Another phrase for “woke mind virus” is “being considerate”.
Now that is woke.
And, yet they use it as an insult, What kind of person would consider "being considerate" an insult?
It’s “being considerate to people I want to hate” that makes it an insult.
"being respectful of others and supporting their civil rights"
...and I'd like to *think* being considerate is contagious, but I have seen little evidence of that.

Someone tried to insult me by the use of calling me woke on Twitter yesterday. I pointed out that it wasn't an insult because woke is actually a positive of being aware. Same person said it would be the biggest insult to them, so I had to assure them that I wouldn't use it to describe them. 👍

Yeah same here. From what Iv heard from Trump lawyers in court its someone who believes that there are systemic injustices in the criminal justice system. Basically any activists seeking fair and equal justice under the law is "woke". If you read the history of “woke” it’s an AAVE term that implies an alertness to “important societal facts and issues,” especially those of racial and social injustice. So its a word that was used by mostly black American's to say "stay active or awake" to social injustice but right wingers decided to steal even that from them. Also about right wingers like Elon telling "Woke people to wake up" Yeah they've no idea what it means or how to use it in a sentence.

If you are the type of person using 'Woke' as an insult, you show only one thing; it matters more to you that you think you should have the right to hurt others, rather than be held accountable for it. You think your right to cause others pain, suffering, in whatever negative form that comes, should supersede another person's right to not be treated that way. Therefore, you feel yourself superior to them. What I find most strange about these people, is most often they claim to be religious in some form. Most especially Republicans on Twitter. Oh the irony. Love thy Neighbour. Last time I checked, there is no caveat to that.

Thing is, you DO have the right to hurt others, whether or not there are woke people. What people seem to want is to be allowed to hurt others, and to be immune from anyone calling them out on it. I can’t believe people use plurals and want other people to address them as a plural with a straight face.
Woke simply meant people being awakened to the fact that people are discriminated against based on their race,class, gender etc. Its mutated into term the right use to describe anyone who disagrees with them on any social issues so has lost any real meaning. The problem is none of that discrimination has gone away.
even worse, by slowly and surely turning it into a pejorative instead of a descriptive term, they've made it so anyone who gets labelled woke gets a free character assassination to go along with it. Like that one caller on jame's show who said woke means "people who get offended without valid reasons" in which case everyone would agree that being woke is bad, but it's the people who they assign that label to that matters, because it becomes a matter of making people out to be woke rather than calling them out for being woke, because woke is now an objectively pejorative term.

I think you will find the term was commandeered by the left initially (see many a Guardian article) before the term was criticised by those on the right. The left recently has not actually being used it in its initial terms you mentioned as it was purely racial and meant to be awake to racial predudice. (There was little reference to gender ideology in the 1930's and no reference was made to class as being black in 1930's America it was a given in general). The left then said oh you have made this term up, whilst sadly not acknowledging that their articles using the term are still on the internet.

My thanks to you James and all the commentators here. I often wondered what or how the term "Woke" was being used other than as a meaningless insult and/or something a person should not be. If as it seems to me, that being "Woke" is to be awake to the biasses, prejudices, and discriminatory forces within society and ourselves, perhaps we should call the anti-woke brigade "Sleepers". They are asleep to their own biasses, prejudices and discriminatory tendencies.

You call something or someone "woke" because you haven't a valid argument, but want to pretend to people on your level that you do. Calling "being woke" a disease is like calling empathy a weakness or compassion a flaw - it doesn't make you seem reasonable, it's more of an indictment of your lack of humanity and wilful ignorance to the world.

He is not a darling of the right either. He is, usually, very funny in my personal opinion and, sometimes, rather insightful. If I had to guess, I would say that Chappelle took money for having Musk appear on stage with him, but I don’t know. The video is all over UA-cam now. But this radio host is asking, “why?” That was the why if it. Which still leaves the question . . . WHY? If you see what I mean.

Dictionary definition of WOKE is "aware of and actively attentive to important societal facts and issues (especially issues of racial and social justice)." In other words, learning, understanding, and applying to analysis. Anti-woke means not being aware of these issues and being against those who strive to be - I believe the term we use in the US for Musk and his kind is "@$$hole".

Outrage = engagement, and that is the name of the game. The longer he can keep peoples eyeballs on Twitter, the more adverts he can place in front of them. He spent way more than he could afford on the Twitter deal so is now desperate to stop the haemmorhaging of money. I read somewhere that Twitter is losing something like $4 million per day, which is a lot, even for a multibillionaire.

@@dendradwar9464 You don't need to be an expert at anything to see that Musk desperately tried and failed to back out of the deal to buy Twitter, and is now stuck with a company losing 1.46 BILLION dollars a year. He might be worth $170 billion but that doesn't mean he has that kind of money laying around in cash, he's going to have to sell shares in his profitable businesses to pay for Twitter's losses.
As an American I wish I could call in. There's so much to unpack when it comes to understanding the US in 2022.
