I'm a 71 yr old boomer who grew up with the Beatles. I started playing guitar before they hit America because all the pretty girls were into folk music and Peter Paul and Mary were the big name. I played some early rock, learned some of those lame ballads like those done by Pat Boone. When I heard the countdown to I Saw Her Standing There, it was like a spaceship had landed. The Beatles changed everything and were largely responsible for the advent of flower power. For a lot of us boomers, the Beatles are part of our DNA. I'm very happy about that. I'm also very happy about your channel. You do it right. Thanks.
im there with you will.....im 71 also and have been playing keyboards since 57 and guitar since 64 thanks to the beatles...we were very fortunate to grow up in the 60's and mike is just great breaking the chords down...thanks mike
Dear Will, I am 70 going on 71. I am from Hong Kong and the reason I chose to come to LIverpool is because of the Beatles and the football team.Haha. Now I have 4 beautiful children and 7 grand children, all because of these 4 scouscers.
The best aspect of Mike Pachelli videos is the laying of a foundation for the lesson. The history, the equipment/instruments, the music theory, and the implementation. I always walk away with complete knowledge. Thanks again for the content!
Exactly the set up then the incredible insight the songs I wish I would have had his training when I was 12 trying to learn .hey Mike we love You Man keep it coming.merry Christmas
Believe it or not I’m almost 40 and I’m just now “discovering” The Beatles. Obviously I’ve known about them for my entire life, but for whatever reason I never gave them a listen. I’m just loving them, and I’ve been enjoying learning and playing their songs. Thanks for your videos!
I can believe it. I'm 65 and watched them on the Ed Sullivan show in Feb 1964. I was only 7 years old but it was something I'd remember the rest of my life. Keep listening and enjoying and if you haven't seen the new film Get Back I highly recommend it.
Thanks Mike, that was an awesome video. Met you back in 95 when I lived down in Florida. You were part of a star studded guitar clinic with Slash, Paul Gilbert, and Rick Nielsen. You took a picture with us. Always kind and down to earth. Thank you!!
It still amazes and honestly impresses me that the guys wanted to add these different voicings to their songs, they just add something special that you wouldn't originally think to play and I honestly don't think that the record would be quite the same without them
Hello Mike, you have just revealed some delicious mysteries when in my teens I was listening and trying to play the Beatles. I'm 70 years old and a Rickenbacker Atlanta with two pickups, and I'm going to practice it all. hug
It's almost impossible to understand how these very gifted young guys went about to build such complex chord combinations to make the early Beatles style. It's comparable to the great composers of the distant past. We only get a glimpse of this with the "Get Back" documentary. Thank you for the excellent analysis.
I'm glad the Beatles were adventurous with the chording on their songs and am always amazed that they had great beautiful melodies to flow on top of these chordal oddities. You've got a great ear and passion to explain their music without diffusing the magical mystery element of the Beatles. Great job!
I remember watching the Ed Sullivan show with my parents every Sunday night and seeing the Beatles for their first appearence and just being mesmerized, I was an instant Beatles fan! Thanks for all of your great lessons Mike!
I just adore the chord progressions the Beatles came up with, just sublime and absolute genius for the time…Mike pachelli explains everything with such simple clarity! I played a few Beatles compositions to my girlfriend today and she loved it which made me a very happy guy!😂😂😂
You're as much of a genius as the lads were in figuring out what John and George constructed, as well as putting their chords together. I've always been an early Beatles fan. I'm glad that they live on in you. 👍😁 Thanks for what you do!
Only found your channel a few weeks ago and with out doubt you’re the best teacher of Beatles songs absolute amazing authority you do look a bit like John I’m sure you’ll take that as a compliment .Thanks for such amazing lessons
This was so interesting. Mike is such a gift to those of us in the guitar community and just seems like an all around great guy. His Beatles lessons and interpretations are spot on. Can’t thank him enough for his postings.
Thanks Mike for your disection of all the Beatles tunes that you cover, but like you said in your coverage some of their chord sequences for the early 1960s were breathtaking oozing professionalism, so thank you for your exponency of the fab fours catalogue and moreover your ability to bring it to us mere mortals. Many thanks once again Mike, well done. Ronnie.
Thanks Mike! I continue to be amazed at your explanation of how The Beatles played the songs. The explanation of the opening chord A Hard Day's Night is so good and sounds like it.
I love watching Mike's videos. He's so engaging and seems like a really cool guy it makes you just want to hang out with him. The informative and entertaining way that he talks about the Beatles really holds your attention. The fact that he's met scores of celebrities means he probably has many interesting stories so to listen to him talk and play seems would be really fun.
Me also I'm a 74 yr old boomer and not only grew up with The Beatles, I was a drummer in Cover Bands playing most of The Beatles hits for the audience.. In fact I had a Ludwig Drum kit and the band all dressed up similar to what The Beatles wore on stage.. I only started learning guitar in 2013 as it was just more challenging and melodic. Now I want to dearly include a lot of The Beatles songs in my guitar playing journey and i'm really glad that I came across you and your style of lessons.. I have the song book of The Beatles as well as all their remastered songs on CD.. Watching the uncommon chords does not surprise me because back then they experimented a lot as they did not read music but a Band I was in all the guitarists read music and re-arranged some of the songs to suit our voices.. Many thanks for your lessons from downunder in Oz.
Being 70, I am one of the fundamental fans of the group. Your videos are a blessing to the new generations of Beatles' buffs. Merry Christmas and keep on posting these wonderful videos! ( BTW, the Beatles would have been astonished that they were playing such interesting voicings! They simply played what sounded good! )
YES, VERY INTERSTING CHORDING AND UNORTHODOX! I TRIED SOME OF THESE AND FOUND THAT MY OLD HABITS ARE HARD TO BREAK!...HAA! WHEN I WAS YOUNGER AND WAS LEARNING THE "RAIN SONG" BY ZEPLIN, (IN STANDARD TUNING) FROM LISTENING TO THE LIVE ALBUM I REALIZED YOU CAN GET INTO ANOTHER WORLD OF CHORDING AND IT TAKES A LOT OF PRACTICE!!!!!! GREAT VIDEO AND THANKS MIKE!
Hey Mike. Thanks for your wonderwull video. This is already the third video on "Uncommon Beatles Chords" from you. I like this series very much. Please keep on doing them. Cheers Stephan
That was fantastic Mike! You pretty much summed it all up when you said "Beatle Brilliance"! Thanks for all of your amazing videos! Have a wonderful Holiday Season! 👍👍🎄🎄🎄👍👍
funguy - It's really no mystery - ANYTHING you want to know about the Beatles is available online. Just put a question in the search bar and you'll get TONS of answers.
Dedicating myself to learning all the guitar parts to the AHDN album and this video is invaluable, along with your other lessons. Thanks for all you do Mike!
Subscribed - intense content. Watched a bunch. I picture a lot of coffee, fire in the fireplace, these videos on and my guitar plugged straight into the amp. Cheers!
The London Times critic called them "aeolian chords". They were inventing it as they went along. Every one of us who played helped move the needle forward. We played Folk Music, Tin Pan Alley Pop, and Rock and Roll, with a side of Doo-Wop and and a dollop of Country. The Beatles broke it all loose, got everyone thinking creatively, changed how people thought about music, the sounds and the words. Brian Wilson started his run about the same time as the Fab Fou; he was hitting his stride in '64, with Fun, Fun, Fun, I Get Around, When I Grow Up to Be a Man, and Dance, Dance, Dance, all Top Ten hits, one #1. Words and music were becoming more important to the listening audience, who bought the records that made it all go around.
Thanks Mike. Really good. Wow would it have been interesting to be a fly on the wall and listen to the guys work out these chord voicings and combinations.
This had always been the mystery chord that nobody wanted to tell. With four instruments playing a harmonised chord such as this it's difficult to play correctly if you don't have the other 3 instruments to accompany it. It's a very complicated combination which back the was a revelation in early Beatle music. Thanks 😊
Mike, I have often wondered how John and Paul took it, when their Grammy Award was won for the George Harrison song, I'm Happy Just to Dance With You. When George got the chance to do something, he generally shined. When you think about songs like Here Comes the Sun, Something, My Guitar Gently Weeps, and others........it just shows people that his writing skills were there, but he was stifled a bit. I love seeing Beatle tunes getting a revival from people like the MonaLisa Twins, Josh Turner, Reina Del Cid and other people. I enjoy your videos very much. I generally always learn something that helps me with my own attempts at playing and recording their tunes.
I’m Happy Just to Dance With You was written by Lennon/McCartney and given to George to sing. A Hard Day’s Night is famous for being the only album which is composed entirely of Lennon/McCartney originals.
If I see you are the one producing and hosting the content on any guitar instructional, I know up front it will be accurate and very well explained. Merry Christmas my professor - Joe from LA

It is your video that I want to watch over and over again, even if I watch it over and over again. I fell in love at first sight while watching your video by myself. It is a video of you that I think I will meet by chance someday. I fell in love with a good video like yours for the first time today. Just like it happens in a movie... I can't even guess you, but I'll see you when time goes by. But if I consistently play harmonica every day, you may one day know even a little bit of my heart like this. How wonderful it would be when a day comes when we can sit face to face and look at each other after a long time and look at the past videos and be happy... ? I was amazed at the excellence of your skills and was moved by your sincerity and hard work while watching the video. I hope your video will bloom as a flower in my heart and stay as a flower of undying love for a long time. I'm looking at your video like a dream. I want my heart to reach you someday. I will cherish your image as beautiful as the starlight in an empty place in my heart. When I close my eyes, your image that was shining because of you is clearer, and when my harmonica performance, which bloomed with tears in my weary heart, reaches your heart, slowly come to me like a dream. Wouldn't it be great if my playing could become a purple star in the morning and my heart could reach you?

That's the best explanation of the opening chord to A Hard Day's Night I've ever heard. Thanks Mike.
I agree. A friend of mine is a musician and tried to explain it to me but he only seemed to understand half of what was going on.
I'm a 71 yr old boomer who grew up with the Beatles. I started playing guitar before they hit America because all the pretty girls were into folk music and Peter Paul and Mary were the big name. The Beatles were simply amazing with their guitar work...and they were so incredibly young!! Obviously...musical geniuses!
They probably had no idea that people would trying to figure out the opening chord for over 50 years…you have incredible ears my friend!
That CHORD! The ultimate mystery solved! Very many thanks

Check out the Beatles first concerts in the States. Unless I'm mistaken, they played live in front of screaming audiences without monitors.
Welcome to our heros music. Spell binding Beatles I loved them since I Ed Sullivan I was 9 years old
There later career overshadows that they were a great rock and roll band!
Mike it blows my mind how young George was & He was so talented on the guitar for his time.

I've skipped your videos for a long time but stopped on this one. So glad I did. I'm a Beatles and guitar snob and thought I knew everything.
