  • In this video I show how to replace the front wheel seals on a mfwd John Deere 410g axle.
    I attribute my successes to god and give him the glory.
    For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of god: not of works, lest any man should boast. For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which god hath before ordained that we should walk in them. (Ephesians 2:8-10)

    That's a nice shiny new jack, great job again thanks for the vids.

      That’s a high performance jack. You can lift like 2000 lbs more with the shiny one. 😂 my last one gave up on me just when I needed it. The piston got stuck and wouldn’t tucka tucka

    Thank you, enjoyed watching the repair. Just curious, how much would that seal replacement kit cost?

      I saw the inner seal at about $100 and the large o-ring was around $7-$15. I don’t have a price on the oil, it held a little over a quart. This is per side.

    What did you pull out with your magnet!? I have a 410j and i cant figure out the next step where you pulled out the lock pins... no lock pins here?!

    Thank you. Again, great teaching. Did you remove the left side just to see an easier way to take the right side apart in the future, or did you replace both right and left seals, figuring if one has gone bad the other was soon to follow? Kind Regards, Craig

      They were both leaking one was worse than the other so I did that one first. I didn’t change them on the same day because they needed the machine, but one was leaking pretty good. I just held onto the video until I changed the other side. The second side came apart a lot easier than the first one did though.

      @@JasonTheMunicipalMechanic Thank you. Keep up the great work. You give me the courage to take on bigger projects. Right now I'm trying to figure out why my John Deere 35d mini excavator has one track that does not automatically revert to neutral when the control lever is released. No evidence of corrosion. I'm going to try to replace the damper assembly. This is something I wouldn't have even tried until I started watching your channel. The spool valves seem to be functioning ok. I'm not really trolling you for advice, I'm just appreciative of how you have empowered me. Thanks again. Craig

      Glad I could help. A lot of what I do is the first time I’ve done it. I just don’t have the kind of job that has a lot of break downs that are out of the ordinary and I only really have the equipment That’s here and the problems that come up. I try to learn as much as I can everyday. I actually still watch a lot of people and repairs on UA-cam still. I find it to be free info and advice. It’s such a wealth of knowledge. But funny you say that My bobcat 335 did that when I first got it and for me it was the pivot pin that goes through the control lever. It just tightened up for some reason. Sometimes grease can dry out and get sticky. I used some penetrating oil and worked it back and forth and got it freed up. That’s where I would look if it’s just not returning to center. If you can definitely feel the lever is going to the center and it’s creeping it could be a oring in the valve Leaking by. Also I’m not sure of the valve without seeing it but there might be a cap on the back of the spool with a spring or two in it that returns the spool to center that could have a problem. I actually just made a video on replacing the spool valve seals on a gresen valve I’ll post Monday that might help.

    Which way does the big hub seal go? Spring towards wheel or machine? I can’t remember for the life of me

      Thank you. We do have a few smaller pickups. A 350, 150, and a 1500 but otherwise yeah it’s all bigger equipment. The smaller vehicles are usually my own that I work on.

    Hi Jason could this oil AW46 fluid used in my hydraulic system and transmission for John Deere 410G backhoe?

    • @JasonTheMunicipalMechanic
      @JasonTheMunicipalMechanic  3 роки тому

      The hydraulic system takes regular oil. I use the John Deere 50 plus 2 15w-40, the transmission uses I think hygaurd j20c. This is what I use. I’m not sure what the regular hydraulic fluid would do and for the price of the fluid I find it worth the peace on mind. I’ve used regular aw46 in the transmissions, axles, and hydraulic systems in a 624j loader, a cat 446b back hoe, and a 772ch grader. When in the axles the brakes started to squeak. Didn’t seem to have any issues other than that but around 6000 hours the backhoe transmission wore out the 4 gear clutch pack and started overheating and slipping. That was the fluid they used before I got there and that’s what they told me to put in them. Now I put in what the machines call for. There is a citgo product I got to replace one of the John Deere fluids I can’t remember which one but I’ll get the info for you tomorrow when I go in. I think it replaces the hygaurd for the trans axles and planetary hubs and I use regular engine oil if I’m out of the 50 plus 2.

      The fluid I got is chevron 1000 thf. It is an equivalent to the hygard j20c
