Last Sunday in the FA Cup between Arsenal and Liverpool, Odegaard several times showed dissent, threw his arms about, screamed at the ref, told him to f-off but no card. 3 times before 70th min he did it. No card. Harvey Elliott does it once and not at the level of Odegaard and he gets booked for dissent. 15 mins later Odegaard does it again. That challenge in isolation may not be a red card but in the context of the application of the rules in the league this season its absolutely a red card
Someone wrote an article about the season Man city won the league by a point and spoke about referees. And how much a different one yellow card could of made in that title challenge. In that title challenge he article referenced Fernandinho and his lack of yellow cards when taking players out when on the break (Tactical foul) - Man City have been getting help from the refs for seasons now
The best MOTD was the no pundits one last year. Sack them all off and reduce our licence fee. Most UA-camrs talk more sense than pundits. I also only watch UA-cam game highlights uploads by Sky, TNT etc.
Bruno probably should've been off for the toe stamp that lead to Rodri fouling him, and getting a yellow for it. But following that both Rodri and Kovacic should've been booked at least 2 or 3 times for complaining to the ref. Rodri should've also been off for a second foul on Bruno.

Far worse than the red card for Curtis Jones when his foot rolled over the top of the ball. The level of consistency is poor and as you said MOTD seem to lurch from one weird comment to another.
When talking with the lads about footy this season i find myself saying "I dont think thats a red, but by the standards that the refs have set. Thats a red card." Far too often. So much inconsistent officiating and its driving everyone mental.

Back in the 80s they had rock hard metal studs they had hard rock balls and the players who played actually like football and the tackles were more brutal then the one yesterday and they werent fouls these new lot are ruining the game by diving and rolling around the floor
Mark is wrong. Not only that, he has criticised previous red cards for similar challenges but now decides that pundits who take his former view are lazy. The ‘rules’ are simple. It’s a foul if the ref deems it a foul. It’s a yellow if the ref deems it a yellow. It’s red if the ref deems it a red. No two fouls are identical. That’s why refs are afforded discretion. Mark can have an opinion. But it’s mystifying that he doesn’t welcome the decision not to give a red. Maybe if it was Casemiro he would do.
Well in this case the tackles were identical with very different outcomes, there isnt even a tiny bit of consistency... and if refs have literally all the power to change the game isnt that bad?
What he isn't wrong about though is City players moaning without getting punished for it. Rodri is literally just the Manchester City Bruno Fernandes if he had positional discipline and was a DM. Both moan all game but only one will get booked.
Mark: From the angle I saw it using slomo, the referee does not have a clear view of the tackle, and even the linesman's view might have been blocked by a player. I don't know how Taylor judged any decision from his view. VAR alone might well have told Taylor to look at the monitor on the basis they considered it might be a red card. Remember also about the red card that Mac Allister got this season, which was later recinded.
Everyone said that all the other red cards were incorrectly given and why are you now against them fixing a problem that everyone asked to be solved? What’s the point of asking for things to get better if you are unhappy when they’re actually changing according to the complaints?
FFP incoming!!! Get ready for tomorrow when the accounts are released….! A lot of points deductions will be handed out in April and will have major impact on relegation and European places. Villa Newcastle Forest Are just a few of teams very close to the deduction.
Yeah - Rodi should have walked for the amount he was in the refs ear yesterday, it was a joke. Very lucky boy. But again, it wasn't a red because it was Man City. Any other player for any other team probably would have seen red. Consistency is a joke in this league. Howard Webb hasn't got a clue.
@@leeterry853 This isn't American football. You can't block and take out a player when you're nowhere near the ball. Dias knew Gordon was going to get the ball before him and so impeded his path and pushed him into the crowd.

I have no qualms with the dissent law, or with Dalot getting sent off. Sending Dalot off should have been the "this is what's going to happen if you swear at refs" but then you have City swarming the ref, constantly throwing their arms around. Against Newcastle Rodri should've got a yellow for dissent resulting in him going off and KDB should have got a yellow for dissent. Probably more. I was listening about that on the radio. It’s outrageous that filth like that are allowed to own our football clubs.
This was always about city, the Chelsea story was a cover. You banging your head about Rodri complaining what was he protesting for?
Someone wrote an article about the season Man city won the league by a point and spoke about referees. And how much a different one yellow card could of made in that title challenge. In that title challenge he article referenced Fernandinho and his lack of yellow cards when taking players out when on the break (Tactical foul) - Man City have been getting help from the refs for seasons now
That same season Rodri practically caught the ball in his own box v Everton…no penalty was given. Could’ve been a draw that game.
Decisions went against City that season, same with Liverpool. Both teams had bad calls and good calls.

You mean the Bruno that shouldn't have been on the pitch at that point?

Surely, if you're someone with a soap box to stand on, you make sure that your opinion is backed by a basic knowledge of the laws of the game?
Far worse than the red card for Curtis Jones when his foot rolled over the top of the ball. The level of consistency is poor and as you said MOTD seem to lurch from one weird comment to another.
Totally agree Mark.. it does see that some people and officials are on another planet...l am being kind with my wording on this.
Drugs maybe
Exact same challenge in the Bayern game yesterday (same impact on instep) and it was a straight red
When talking with the lads about footy this season i find myself saying "I dont think thats a red, but by the standards that the refs have set. Thats a red card." Far too often.
So much inconsistent officiating and its driving everyone mental.
Mark is correct. The dissent in the city game went unpunished, and the claims of corruption are becoming plausible. 😳

As a city fan. I love the bitterness of mark towards us. Its So funny
Again, the main issue is consistency. Players being sent off for crowding the ref is ridiculous, but I agree as a City fan that we seem to get away with it. Why can they not be consistent in 2024.. it's ridiculous.
City dont get away with anything . Bruno should have off as well even before rodri made the challenge on him. It happen also in the match rodri got the red card against forest. Who commit 3 to 4 fouls but ref did not show a yellow .thats why rodri got angry .
@@Godismighty34 Read my comment. Other players get sent off for crowding the ref. City do it and we haven't had a player sent off for that. Rodri DEFINITELY had a reason to be angry but that wasn't my point.

not given is one thing… curtis jones was not given a red too… but VAR pulled it back… here VAR didn’t bother… PGMOL is corrupt…
as for the pundits? u wonder if they have ever played the game
Back in the 80s they had rock hard metal studs they had hard rock balls and the players who played actually like football and the tackles were more brutal then the one yesterday and they werent fouls these new lot are ruining the game by diving and rolling around the floor
Such a shame that the refs have no consistency and just let all this decent continue!
A compilation vid of all the red and yellow card offences and players not being booked at all would show complete corruption.
Well said
Mark:
From the angle I saw it using slomo, the referee does not have a clear view of the tackle, and even the linesman's view might have been blocked by a player. I don't know how Taylor judged any decision from his view.
VAR alone might well have told Taylor to look at the monitor on the basis they considered it might be a red card.
Remember also about the red card that Mac Allister got this season, which was later recinded.
One thing is consistent, they dont push the rules to punish City like they do with others
Dan Burn tactically fouling outside the box and no card? also shouting abuse at the ref and no card? Bernardo booked for the same foul as Burn?
City was fined over 100k for the players protest during the Spurs game. Mark is just pushing propaganda against City
@PeaceStan 100k is pocket change to Man City and won't stop them doing it again
@@PeaceStan it must have consequenses in match. Money is nothing for City
Totally agree, red card every day of the week. If it was a more high profile game, say City v Liverpool they would have analysed it in more detail

"I'm not happy on this Sunday Morning!"
Honest question. When were you ever happy?
Fodden showned a card and never got booked. Cheaty don't get sendings off as they have a Xmas party to pay for.
Haaland should've been booked for the Spurs game but hey ho, let City go and punish everybody else.
Spot on. It’s the inconsistency of the decisions which ires me. Rodri was constantly moaning decisions and more than earned another yellow. As you said they are a formidable team and don’t need help.
Officials have been inconsistent on these sorts of challenges for every team this season. Mainly because they are a poor bunch of refs. And Mark calling out city and Chelsea for desent, when you have Bruno fernades do it every match and nothing happens haha
