Falcon Crest is an American prime time television soap opera that aired for nine seasons on CBS from December 4, 1981, to May 17, 1990. The series revolves around the feuding factions of the wealthy Gioberti/Channing family in the California wine industry. Jane Wyman stars as Angela Channing, the tyrannical matriarch of the Falcon Crest Winery, opposite Robert Foxworth as Chase Gioberti, Angela's nephew, and later David Selby as Richard Channing, the illegitimate son of Angela's ex-husband. Other notable series regulars include Lorenzo Lamas as Angela's grandson Lance Cumson; William R. Moses as Chase's son Cole Gioberti; Abby Dalton as Angela's daughter and Lance's mother Julia Cumson; Susan Sullivan as Chase's wife Maggie Gioberti; Ana Alicia as heiress Melissa Agretti; and Margaret Ladd as Angela's younger daughter Emma Channing. The series is set in the fictitious Tuscany Valley (modeled after the Napa Valley) northeast of San Francisco.

My Father had two favourite actresses, Jane Wyman and Margaret Lockwood. Pity we do not see their like any more.

This was when TV was at its best. This was my favourite, then Dallas, knots Landing, then Dynasty. TV has never been the same since.
Why do we not see shows such as this on terrestrial TV any more? There must be a reason so what is it? The 70s & 80s were great for TV series like this.

The reason is us. As long as the public watches crap like the Bachelorette, the bachelor, stupid cooking shows and whatever crap the Kardashians cook up this is what your going to see.

The 80's were great weren't they..loved the power dressing..i was a personnel manager and loved my shoulder pads and primary colours !! And Big hair!!

Cesar Romero & Anne Archer? They both played significant characters on the show. Matter of fact, Mr. Romero was on the show for about 3 seasons. I think Ms. Archer was on there for about 2 seasons, not sure.

This was one of the greatest soaps ever. It was on Friday nights on CBS right after Dallas. Oscar winner Jane Wyman, the first Mrs. Reagan, played her matriarch role masterfully. David Selby and Robert Foxworth were equally good. Top notch all the way!

The late Edward Albert was missing. He played villain Jeff Wainwright for two seasons I think.

I got the chance to rewatch all the 70s, 80's and 90s TV series with the Internet application Prime Video. Such as: Dallas, Dinasty Charly's Angel, Miami Vice, Baywatch, Starsky and Hutch, Melrose Place, Night Rider, Différent Strokes, Falcon Crest, Beverly Hills 90210, all 5 Rockys and many more.

It was my favorite soap, even preferred it to dallas . The first season was perfection. Seasons 2 and 3 were also excellent, but after the plane crash finale of season 3 it started to go downhill for me. I think i stopped midway in season 4 but when it started its run in french in quebec, i rewatched those from the beginning to get back into it and continued on while also returning to the cbs broadcasts on friday nights with chase's death. The final season was awful. What they did to maggie in the first episode was bs. The rest of the season was trash. Nearly all the original characters were gone but i stayed with it because id seen every episode so far...still it was trash.
I disagree. Season 1-4 were great. But then it got better Season 5. 6 7 were the best ever. The music was to die for. Love the Richard and Maggie romance. I agree the final season went downhill a bit. But I still think it was the best TV series ever.

I want to go back and live it all over again. We had the best TV shows back then and lived in the last of the best decades in America..it was the party of a life time and we lived it well. We had the best TV then. Falcon Crest, Dallas, Knots Landing, Dynasty to name a few and growing up we had, The Waltons, Little House on the Prairie, and for the first time ever the motion pictures of, Star Wars, Star Trek, Superman, Close Encounters of the third kind, E.T., Poltergeist, Jaws, Friday the 13th, Aliens, (No not the ones being aloud to just walk into our country right now in 2023), Predator and many more… We also celebrated the bicentennial in the 70’s when the entire country celebrated it from Apr 1, 1975 - Jul 4, 1976. It was like the 4th of July every day. It was fantastic!.…it was such a better time to be alive in this county. We never had the problems that are here today. It was unheard of for kids being shot and men walking around dressed as women. It was the last of America and we were lucky to have experienced it.
