Hey Pdubs!! 1st of all, turn on those cabs behind you!! lol These look okay, sorta low res/low rent pinball. IMHO, FX3 has everything tight and right. These would be in-line with the AtGames tables that came out over the past few years I think. Overall, better than nothing, but this is certainly more budget v-pin. Regardless, great video! Thanks!
reminds me of the Amiga virtual pinball era. I'll pick it up because I'm a sucker for anything pinball... but a cabinet mode would have gotten this thing much more play!
Ahhhhh, 90s video pinball... I always viewed the scrolling table as something of a necessity for the smaller and lower-resolution monitors of the day, but it is definitely less than pleasing to look at. (Originally released by Apogee, not Atari. It is interesting that Atari's wound up with this one. I know they've been actively seeking rights to a bunch of lost games, most notably doing the legwork to hunt down Berzerk and Frenzy.)
I have to give this a sidenote. i play the darkside theme, and there is a hard crash on the version i played from abandonware. when you play the green multiball mode and that mode exits due to losing 2 out of 3 balls, sometimes a memory can't be read. the game subsequently freezes and then exits. Therefor, even though this release only allows the small play window, i gave it a shot. Boy has this got many bugs. in your review here you mainly just play for videocontent while your head is talking. But if you had actually entered the shuttle video mode for example, you would have crashed into invisible asteroids. if you played some of the games you had noticed wrongly looping music. Most notably final assault. Oh my fucking god, they totally butchered final assault. It is the most valuable, ' endboss'-like startmode mission which only unlocks after you played all 7 other startmode missions. When you painstakingly work your way up to even be awarded the privilege of playing it, and the 5 balls pop out from all directions, you feel so TERRIBLY FRUSTRATED AND DISAPPOINTED when the music only loops the first 2 ro 3 seconds instead of the whole theme. It makes you feel the game just froze/glitched out. But then you start playing despite the weird noise the supposed music is making, and then the script that resets the jackpots is broken, so you stay in the game mode but cannot earn any points. One of the main points generating features of the table turned to ruins... Worst of all, the problem i mentioned at the beginning of my rant? it's still there. They didn't solve sh!t. I had thought that the reason they charge money for a game that was free upon release, was because issues which cause the game to be unplayable had been solved. apparently not. Go try playing 3 or 7 hours and enjoy NOT entering your highscore because during extra ball nr 21 the game goes alt-F4. This is worthy of a class action lawsuit. Who can help me with that?
No cabinet mode is and will always be a hard pass. I just don't understand these releases except as a money grab which is total bs. If I want to play PC Pinball I'll go play Space Cadet Pinball!

my advice, get it from abandonware. it's much more stable and bugfree. steam version is filled with bugs (at least on darkside table which i play)
