Jade, Rebecca and Flávia. All of them have a history of injuries, and when they are finally all healthy at the same time, they win an unprecedented medal for Brazil. It's like a movie
I gotta say I love the narrator’s effort to properly pronounce our Brazilian athletes’ names! Very happy as a Brazilian with our whole team, they made one more chapter of a beautiful history today! Also very impressed with Melanie’s performance overall, and glad she got to carry her team to a medal!
So, so, so happy for Melanie in particular. I hope this encourages her to believe in herself and the work she has obviously put in and give her very best for AA.
Even though im from the US, and of course im happy for the girls - theres just something so beautiful about brazil & france's reactions. Such emotion, excitement & pure JOY. Maybe when you're used to or expected to win, it just takes some of the beauty out of it?
Well let us think of that for a minute. This is only the 2nd WC for Shilese, Skye and Leanne and the first for Joscelyn. Simone is just coming back after TWO years during which time she had to deal with a lot of mental issues so although there was expectation for them to win, there was still pressure to win it, pressure they ALL felt. So, I think this win meant VERY much to them as individuals and as a team.
yes it's more expected, more conceivable, so the reaction is less ecstatic joy and surprise. These firsts are huge for the entire country, to achieve what felt impossible, proof of the strength of the gymnastics team/federation into the future, and it will inspire young children knowing that it's possible, especially for the South American continent which does not have much gymnastics history
I think unexpected/underdog wins are always sweeter. And wins you have to fight for are sweeter (the US, despite its issues today, still won by over two points, their win was never in doubt). Add into that that the US had a really rough day today with Josc's last minute injury, leading everyone but Simone looking a little shakier than usual, and then you add in Leanne's nasty beam fall. They had their own kind of fight, but not the kind that is uplifting. I think they were all just glad to get through the day.
I think a lot of it has to do with the problems they had. Joscelyn got injured, Leanne stepped up and did a damn good job, but I know she's upset about her BB routine. She was put on this team for her consistency, and even though I think personally going up and hitting on TWO events you weren't even warmed up for or expecting to compete DEFINITELY counts... Joscelyn getting injured, Leanne falling from the beam, and Skye (one of our superstar beamers) falling in Quals after falling in 2022 Worlds, I think our girls just had a LOT going on. They definitely aren't taking it for granted at all. They just have a lot of other things coloring the win, too. But you're absolutely right: I'm American, and I'm super happy and proud for the Brazilian and French Teams! They both made me cry!! 😭 I'm also proud (as a Mexican) of Brazil putting Latinos on the map in the Gymnastics world! It's the first ever Team Medal for all of Latin America for WAG OR MAG!! ❤
As a brazilian man, I was waiting for this moment for so long time. I'm so happy for these girls. The TF in this worlds was amazing! God bless our girls.
Tearing up for Brazil and France even though I wanted Italy to medal. Italy did great, the others did better, they deserved their medals, and they all - medalist or not - are incredible and show us what perseverance and mental strength can achieve. A wonderful night. It was sport at its finest, and I can't wait for Paris.

Brazilians will never forget this moment. I was expecting for a bronze at best, but the girls did the damn thing. It was magic.

brazil should have gotten silver. congrats team brazil!
I wonder if Melanie has Brazilian ancestry, because "de Jesus dos Santos" is a Brazilian name.
Best world championship ever!!!
Wait, the french girl is called " Melanie De Jesus dos Santos "? This is a very common brazilian name
Her father is from Portugal.
I see, thanks@@valeriacalvi2495

Why is this called World Championships if Russia wasn't allowed to attend? lol
This should be called "Half World Championships" 😂
At least we have many countries, while World Series baseball has only Americans
they were banned from all international meets in 2023 bc of doping
Because Russia's absence makes no difference at all, especially after all the dropping scandals they were involved in. Simple like that
