Just a little error, Jonathan Penner was on Fans vs Favourites!
Ive done a bit of a deep dive on who was considered and such, and it seems that those who accepted but left out are Sandra Diaz-Twine, Twila Tanner, Coby Archa, Judd Sergeant, Lydia Morales, Courtney Marit, Shane Powers, Terry Dietz, Yul Kwon, Michelle Yi, Earl Cole and Peih-Gee Law.
I didn't meant to imply that Penner wasn't on the season, just that he was wanted from the start, though I can definitely see how it came across that way.
I've always been a bit doubtful of the Coby one since he was the source of a lot of the leaks at the time himself, which is probably why they also included Janu as a possible returnee (and I just don't see how that could have been true). It'll always be disappointing that Earl in particular keeps just barely being unable to play though. Watching him and Yul with Malcolm on Snake in the Grass was great.

Honestly the whole idea of fans vs favorites is really dumb to me, you have one tribe of players who have an obvious advantage over the other. So every time the favorites dominate the game, even in Caramoan when the favorites aren’t really strategic
I definitely agree, but I also think there's an element of how casting worked at the time that really exaggerated it. The fan tribes had some of the least game-aware people on them, mixed with 2-3 people who were just there to be star-struck.

There was a Fans vs Favorites season in the Bulgarian edition of survivor which was actually won by a fan. However it was a shit show in other ways. There was a pre game corruption scheme between the members of the Favorites tribe to split the money with each other post game. This scheme got reported to the production crew by a couple of snitch Favorites contestants during the post merge section and those 2 contestants happened to make the final 3 with one of the fans. So obviously they wouldn't get any votes from the Favorites in the jury after this betrayal.
That doesn't make sense.. the favorites would always be obvious targets, making it only much harder for them
Worth noting that Tom declined and that Coby confirmed himself, Yul, and Shane would likely be on the cast before it became Fans vs Favorites.

Noo Micronesia was a bad season. bad boot order basically. A full all-star season would have saved it.
