Dear Elizabeth, as an Italian and as a former player of medieval and Baroque music in my teens, I feel so honoured that you have been digging up these gems composed by Italian musicians of my favourite period.
The walls of Great Malvern Priory must be proud, warm and glowing after being reminded of such a fitting musical era. Beautiful performance Elizabeth. Also demonstrates that a 6c lute can deliver great musical expectations of its own. I really liked this, and performed in an incomparable setting.
Merci pour ce moment de grâce! Je viens d'apprendre que cet auteur vivait au tout début de la période baroque et qu'on sait très peu de choses à son sujet, sauf les tablatures qu'il a laissé et c'est magnifique!
Just charming--simple pieces, yet so very satisfying when played with the verve you bring to them. And how I love the sound of your lute in that fine, resonant acoustic!
I'm a new lutenist, only been playing since March 2022. This is one of two songs I performed on my 6 course Renaissance lute lute in August 2022 with my guitar meetup group: The Philly Musical Achievers. My version was a bit simplified than your playing. I also played John Johnson's "The Queen's Treble."
