Cats Fan here, you guys are really gonna enjoy Lorentz. He wasnt even a rotation player during the regular season but ended up being a valuable 4th liner during our Playoff run, even scoring goals in important moments. Shows he's a guy who never quits & just keeps working no matter what.

I'm still shocked Masters is somehow able to have a monopoly on this job. Somewhere along the line he's become THE beat guy - gets the first question, gets the last one, asks all the same things to all the players. His go to is asking them about random teammates. Nothing of substance. And anytime the players get annoyed, 95% of the time it's from a Mark Masters question. Surely TSN can get somebody else.

me too...i didnt like any of the pre-season games, until the 2nd game with Detroit..( i know DET didnt have their A-Team that game) i liked the konstant forechecking and doggedness on the puck. so hopefully we will see that all year

He has a really high hockey IQ. I think he could be a mainstay 3rd line centre in the NHL. I thought he looked more NHL ready than Cowan. I think Cowan has more upside, but Minten has much better game awareness and attention to detail. Anyway, two good solid players coming soon.

He knows Tavares value at 2C is brutal, but won't work on draws, compete heavier down low, compete harder is what u need from a 2C vs winger. He puts his hands to his face. This is the result of player making 2 or 3x more than Coach, knows he has leverage in the organization.
3 coaches have tried Nylander at C. It doesn't stick because he isn't a C. The leafs cap structure is very problematic compared to the contenders in the league.
Stats don't lie. Willy is basically net negative for the Leafs, and worse without JT. That's why. Not sure why he's back at wing but I don't think it was Berube's decision.

If the press get to him before he dresses , it's no big deal . Willie doesn't let things get to him and he likes to be casual in the dressing room . That's what we love about him .
Berube killed the middle six players, with him you are either no-contact stars, or 'raw' grinders (like he was); spear carriers. In between, are Lily, Jarny, and McMann, also Domi, they had to devote all of their time and energy to banging and crashing, which they can never match huge unskilled lorenz reaves and myers at, leaving no time and energy to 'finish', they are not Willie, no one is, no one ever was. The energy - effort tiny robertson made to make the team, is unsustainable, not his scoring, but his banging and crashing into players like myers, and that shift by reaves was his best in five years. At best, berube - trev are illegally sitting out jarny bobby and lilly to see if robbie, reaves efforts are fake or sustainable, but if they stay in, the former's trade value just went to late picks.

Nylander can score but only in front of the net with little to no pressure. How many breakaways did he have last year? Why? Because he stood at the Leafs blue line while others did the dirty work. He often would either casually skates back or just leave the ice, when the opposing team broke out and into the Leafs zone, often leading to a goal against. Let's hope he does better this year

Lorentz has really got that positive energy I felt lacked last season
