He is the friend Wille made independently, introduced himself to, and who knows him as Wille, not Wilhelm or Crown Prince. Simon is the kind of friend who asks for nothing in return. Wille is currently in a desperate situation, having lost his only other trusted person, his brother. While I may not agree with Wille's behaviour, I do understand the reasons behind it.

August committed a crime against your brother. Even if I was in a rough patch with my siblings I would still put them first over someone I hardly know. The rose-colored glasses are on hard with her smh. And when I watched this show the first time I sorta felt the way you did about the queen and Wille's conversation. However, when I watched it a second time recently, I realized how fucked up it is, and how Wille just sadly doesn't realize the subtle unacceptance his mother has for his coming out. Like she's not outwardly pushing him away, but she is actively trying to keep him in the closet, and clearly hoping it's a "just a phase" thing by saying oh well maybe Wille won't feel the same way at 18. All Simon wants from Wille is open communication and trust. Wille keeps secrets from Simon or makes decisions that affect Simon without talking to him about it first. He is also not honest about how he is feeling - or what he is going through. Simon was asking after Erik died, via text message, what he could do to help or for Wille to talk to him. Wille's response was to ask him to delete all his texts. He not only rejected Simon as a lover at that point but he rejected his friendship. He was obviously grieving and not able to make good decisions. In fact the only person we see him talking to about Erik is August - when he's drunk and when he's distressed about the leaked tape.

I think Simone was kinda being ridiculous. Will is a fucking crown prince a prince if anyone knows anything about how the crown worked it was the kids in that school. He’s not gonna be able to just night and day make changes to the way it works. Being a 2 year secret is a sacrifice but for a future king, and someone you love its not much. All Simon wants from Wille is open communication and trust. Wille keeps secrets from Simon or makes decisions that affect Simon without talking to him about it first. He is also not honest about how he is feeling - or what he is going through. Simon was asking after Erik died, via text message, what he could do to help or for Wille to talk to him. Wille's response was to ask him to delete all his texts. He not only rejected Simon as a lover at that point but he rejected his friendship. He was obviously grieving and not able to make good decisions.
In fact the only person we see him talking to about Erik is August - when he's drunk and when he's distressed about the leaked tape.
This series and heartbreak high are one of the best series on Netflix..❤

I think Simone was kinda being ridiculous. Will is a fucking crown prince a prince if anyone knows anything about how the crown worked it was the kids in that school. He’s not gonna be able to just night and day make changes to the way it works. Being a 2 year secret is a sacrifice but for a future king, and someone you love its not much. Gay people live in the closet for years for self preservation so it’s kinda hypocritical to judge will when he just now is figuring out his sexuality and also just started dating Simon. Like it’s common to not even introduce your dating life to your family until you are fully sure and know. So why put so much pressure on him when he still a kid and in such a huge position and has a huge responsibility on his back.
I actually don't get Simon from the perspective of someone who was 16 once I did not want anyone to know at that age nor did I care to go public, I mean we were still kids we were not getting married at that age, and was no one business ... so it's strange to me... Everything that Wilhelm does is in the public eye. He has to be careful about how he is seen in public. S1E1 shows that. He got into a fight and it’s all over the news. He had to apologize for his behavior. Then he had to ask Simon to take down the video at the football game because that might get picked up by the news.
Simon just wants to be able to put a cute video of his boyfriend at a football game or at karaoke night on social media, and not have it picked up by every news outlet. He wants to go on dates and not worry about paparazzi. He’s not used to thinking about how the public might react to something he does. It’s not that he wants to announce anything. He just wants to be a normal teen and not hide who he’s dating.
