City of God and do a top 20 crime tv shows of the 21st century.
@@ultronxmonika4292 they are not just going to make it because you ask for it
My favorite is The Departed (2006).
Where are The Gentlemen and Hot Fuzz?
@@zohan9094 Hot Fuzz is more of a action comedy!
Prisoners definitely deserved at least honorable mention
That's my favorite movie right now!
Easily top 10.
Prisoners is top tier.
Most underrated movie of the century so far
I like how quickly everyone got on the torture train.
The Nice Guys needs a goddamn sequel.
Goddamn right you are you f***er!
Drive is a cinematic masterpiece. It's not a regular crime/gangster movie. It has so many layers of deep meaning inside it.
And the soundtrack is awesome.
Nightcrawler is easily one of my favorite movies
I keep mistaking that one as an X-Men origin story because of the name. They should do an origin story for Nightcrawler
If want to you have to buy the ticket
This is probably the best list of 2021, especially putting NCFOM at number 1 is just damn right!
Leonardo is just amazing at anything he does
I have yet to see him act in a bad movie. Everything he does is a home run
@@alolandonaldtrump8368 Django Unchained?
@@hmshakib2400 Leo is awesome in Django Unchained.
He is Legend.
@@tennesseegirl9724 He nailed it. Always wanted to see him as villain, and it perfectly satisfied me.
I can’t believe none of Guy Ritchie’s films are on this list 🤔
Now that’s something to talk about...
Yeah i honestly was perplexed
Snatch
Lock, Stock and two smoking barrels
The Gentlemen
@@ikennaonwunli5072 The gentlemen looks like shitty movie. It is overrated
@@watchlistsclips3196 looks like? Have you actually seen the movie?
Just rewatched No country for old men .. its freakin good from start to finish , the ending is kinda confusing .. But still great
City of God is the best movie ever! Glad to see it’s getting it’s respect in this list
Lil Ze was crazy as hell, City of Men isn't bad either though
Never. Overrated movie. It was like a documentary. Bullshit movie
@@super60tv19 What?
@@super60tv19 Are you crazy?
Definitely a nominee for GOAT
The departed is such a great movie I’m glad to see it in the top 5
Leo is one of the GOATs is what I take from this list
Hell Or High Water deserved much mention here. As brilliant and triumphant as No Country is, The Irishman has deconstructed and adds more dimensions to the crime genre by people who have arguably perfected the craft. Other than that, solid list although Spotlight has been associated with crime very, very loosely
Oh yes indeed, a wonderful movie. Great performances.
Good list!
For those who want the list without watching the entire video, it's, note, the list, not my list:
#20 The Nice Guys
#19 Gone Girl (the film)
#18 American Gangster
#17 Collateral
#16 In Bruges
#15 Oldboy (the original 2003 version)

HM5: The Town (the 2010 film)
#1 No Country for Old Men (the film)
ofc movie
@@iamapokerface8992 chill man
'The Departed' became one of the best crime drama movies ever made.
Jack Nicholson, Leonardo DiCaprio, Matt Damon, Mark Wahlberg, and Martin Scorsese did a great job on that film.
COLLATERAL is BETTER
You should like the original Hong Kong version "Infernal Affairs " as well.
@@yeoedwin1619 Alright. I'll go watch it very soon.
@yeoedwin1619 bruh that shit has a 6.5 on imdb. Wtf
Martin sheen too
Now make a list of the top crime movies of the 80s and 90s. A lot o great films!!!
In my opinion collateral is one of the most underrated movies ever.
Thank you for the update, WatchMojo..!! I agree with the picks..!! Also, there's The Wizard of Lies (2017) starting Robert De Niro.
20. Eastern Promises
19. Traffic
18. Shot Caller
17. The Gentlemen
16. Joker
15. Gone Baby Gone
14. American Made
13. Parasite
12. Thoroughbreds
11. Chicago
10. City of God
9. Lord of War
8. Kill Bill: Vol. 2
7. The Departed
6. American Hustle
5. John Wick: Chapter 2
4. Catch Me if You Can
3. Sin City
2. Elite Squad: The Enemy Within
1. The Wolf of Wall St.
One movie per franchise.
Have you seen Memories of Murder?
@@Rilumai no, but I will eventually
@@poihpioakarp8845 Nice! It's absolutely amazing.
@@Rilumai agreed
Even more: The Dark Knight, American Psycho, Gone, Baby, Gone, Public Enemies, Black Mass, A Most Violent Year, Inside Man, Training Day, Four Brothers, Tsotsi, Alpha Dog, Snatch, The Bank Job, Lawless, 21 Jump Street, Cellular, Phone Booth, Running Scared, End of Watch, Prisoners
There's enough crime / crime thrillers to make a second list.
Finally someone gave A Most Violent Year a mention, I feel for me that this film was underappreciated. I think it's really that underrated and Isaac and Chastain were really good.
Collateral is so underrated, movie does not get enough recognition
Reminds me of your channel 😉
I agree
I think he means maybe it's forgotten about in the public eye lol
It is very well rated by critics & was a box office hit .. I don't call that underrated
@@chinortega3 that’s more like it
I feel like we love crime movies and shows because deep inside i feel like we find some of those acts exiting because it takes some nerve to go against society in those many ways, maybe we would like to do some of those things and act in those kinds of ways, we find it badass, and who doesnt like being a badass?
2007's 'American Gangster' was also pretty good.
Hollywood film legend and two-time Oscar winner Denzel Washington did a very good job playing Frank Lucas.
@Tigon the ones above it are better. gone girl is better too.
would've preferred "training day" over "american gangster" and it would've also made the list higher.
the basement scene in zodiac got me hidin under my blankets
Great list, loved all these and can't complain or say one deserved higher or lower ranking
The Nice Guys was such an underrated movie.......Shane Black should make a sequel
Dope list here... Have seen everything except 3 - gotta backup..
But No.1 pic?? Hmmm, I don’t really know
Altough i agree with this list and there are many great movies, but Gomorra would have deserved even a mention. It was super dark and one of the most realistic films ever made and it inspired the awesome Gomorrah tv-series.
Thanks for including Zodiac!!
That’s my favorite movie!!
Also, Infernal Affairs(the original) is a lot better than The Departed in my opinion.
I saw the departed first and wasn’t a huge fan, but then I saw Infernal Affairs. I thought it was much better.
I think if you watch infernal affairs first part departed is good because the language is english so it's very good and we will listen to Chinese language here which will be disgusting to many people.
Drive is amazing. I found it almost perfect with its characters, score, writing, and limited but brutal action. It has a solid cast of talented actors and actresses. I even played a game that was partially inspired by Drive.
Hotline Miami?
it was boring for me
Definitely a hidden gem in a way . It's sound track , atmosphere
I love how he silently fucked everyone
@@chosa6158 same
All these awesome moives but Blow isn't on here? That is easily one of the best crime moives ever!!!
You finally got a good list.
Also worth mentioning:
Eastern Promise, Panic Room, Lost Bullet (France), The Raid 2, Election 1 & 2 (Hong Kong), Trivisa (Hong Kong), Exiled (Hong Kong), Vengeance (Hong Kong), Kabali (India), Don 1 & 2 (India), Raess (India), Outrage trilogy (Japan), The Cop The Gangster And The Devil (Korea), Public Enemy series (Korea), Friend 1& 2 (Korea), Monga (Taiwan), Gatao series (Taiwan)
I enjoyed The Nice Guys, especially the ending. Too bad there wasn't a sequel. And I think it could be developed into a series. But it didn't turn a profit.
Eastern Promises continues to be severely underrated I see.
A shame to miss Denis Villeneuve's Prisoners :(
Great Underrated films that deserve a mention:
Training Day
Den Of Thieves
The Equalizer
Mystic River
Wind River
Hell Or High Water
End Of Watch
Bad Times At The El Royale
hell or high water is dope af
Remove Den of Thieves and put instead Heat.
Good list 👍
Ambrosaur 36 Heat would top every single movie...but it was released in 1995.
@@ambrosaur3646 Den of thieves is great and in every way it is way better heat.Old-fashion movie.
How is Prisoners not on the list the complete disrespect smh
your right 🤦🏿♂️ that movie gives chills
Dope list here... Have seen everything except 3 - gotta backup..
But No.1 pic?? Hmmm, I don’t really know 🤔
Great list! Just surprised The Usual Suspects wasn’t mentioned
that not from this century
@@jimbo9208 Oh yeah! Haha thanks
pretty solid list other than the Irishmen and the foreign films.
Great list surprisingly. In Bruges an memories of murder are masterpieces
I've damn near seen ever movie on this list and I agree ,good shit WatchMojo 😃👍🏿
Public Enemies is probably my favorite crime film. It seems to be forgotten for some reason.
Black Mass as well, both should've at least got an honorable mention plus, Johnny Depp's portrayal of Whitey Bulger is great.
The Departed, The Town, and Uncut Gems gotta be my top picks
I thought the British crime film " Harry Brown" with Michael Cain was very realistic and that made it very scary, In fact I think the British make very good crime films, An Aussie crime film I liked was " The Dry " with Eric Bana...
Man I love catch me if you can great cast great movie sooooo underrated
Wolf of Wall Street the departed the town and drive are amazing crime movies
The town was kinda week
Add some camas bro 😂
Ok Leo fangirl .. wall of wall Street is not a crime movie & The Departed is a gangster movie not crime
We need more films like Public Enemy. So many good real life stories to be told.
How Michael Mann's 1995 'Heat' with Robert De Niro and Al Pachino failed to even get an honorable mention is beyond me.
That was last century.
@@michellefurness454lol
I like the crime movie Criminal. The one with that diego guy.
Drive is such an underrated masterpiece! Also, The Dark Knight is more of a crime movie than a superhero flick, deserves a place here.
I thought it will be number 1
What about Sin City, Kill Bill, Taken, Mission Impossible franchise, Knives Out, and many many more...
IN BRUGES is just an awesome movie.
COLLATERAL = MASTERPIECE 😁
I agree
I was really surprised when I saw Tom in that role
That piece of shit a masterpiece?.
Half the films here star either Leonardo Dicaprio, Jake Gyllenhaal, or Ryan Gosling
Also Matt Damon
The nice guys, crime movies of the century, really😳🇬🇧
I always root for the bad guys. Everytime can't help it.🤷♂️
My Top 10 Favourite Crime Movies of All Time:
01. The Godfather (1972)
02. Pulp Fiction (1994)
03. Goodfellas (1990)
04. Se7en (1995)
05. The Departed (2006)
06. Taxi Driver (1976)
07. No Country for Old Men (2007)
08. The Usual Suspects (1995)
09. L.A. Confidential (1997)
10. Heat (1995)
The first couple of mins of drive are bad ass. Love that movie. Especially the face stomp in
Good list! If there was room for a few more spots, The Gentlemen would have been there.
We like crime movies because we enjoy watching characters do things we are not capable of.
Training Day BETTER be on here man
Edit: Wow, not even an honorable mention...
Ikr what a sick film
Go off. Get em. Put em on blast, fiercequeen!
They ain't know what to do when you give em the ol' one, two, buckle your shoe!
Gone Girl is a batshit crazy movie.
I’ve known of Bong Joon-Ho way before Parasite
Baby Driver deserved a mention.
it did
the best is objectively the departed, the acting, entertainment value, the writing and how the movie really doesnt give you a second to breathe is what makes it the best I think. I also think city of god is great.
Layer Cake is one for the books you missed
As an international movie "Bullhead" or "Rundskop" is worth the watch. Thank me later.
im kinda disappointed Good Time wasnt on here but still, a really good list
I think reservoir dogs needs to be here
Uncut Gems is a Masterpiece
Sicario and Lights Out are still the most overlooked movies in my book. 🤔😏
Nice guys did finish last on your list. 😆
Do crime games of the century version
Why the place beyond the pines is not in the list?
It's quite sad that i have already watched the whole list of my favourite movies.
Heat, hands down, Where is Blow, and Thief, Once upon a time in America? The Untouchables, Crossing Delancey, Donnie Brasco ,Carlito's Way. The Bank Job are all superior movies, not just crime movies. To live and die in L.A.Hard Boiled by John Woo is nice.
Top 1 is raid shadow legends
While I agree with most of the films I've seen here (15 out of 20) being really good, I was never a big fan of The Departed. I'm especially sad that Prisoners and The Place beyond the Pines were ignored though, my two personal favourites aren't even Honourable Mentions...
These two are my favourites too
Heat, goodfellas, casino?
WTF! Prisoners (2013) not including on the list even honorable mention is a crime
That's more of mystery-thriller.
@@ThePrinceofHisOwnKingdom kidnapping is a crime
It's kind of funny how many actors appear twice in this list, except Leo who appeared 3 times (4 if you count the HM). I think Inception should have been included as well.
Great list. The crime genre is my favorite movie genre, and I like everything on this list. I might switch the order around a little, but that's about it.
1. The Wolf of Wall Street
2. Drive
3. Uncut Gems
4. No Country For Old Men
5. Good Time
6. Sicario
7. The Irishman
8. Gone Girl
9. Training Day
10. The Departed
11. Nightcrawler
12. Zodiac
13. City of God
14. Once Upon a Time In Hollywood
15. American Hustle
16. Traffic
17. Gangs of New York
18. Catch Me If You Can
19. The Nice Guys
20. Baby Driver
From what I can see, you are a Leonardo Dicaprio fan
@@harshghetiya9864 That, and a huge Martin Scorsese fan!
Drive is a masterpiece it’s so nostalgic and shit
Once Upon in Hollywood? I don't see that as a crime movie
none of the main characters are involved in crime. I can only think of 2 events that can be considered as crimes, one of which happens in a flashback and is extremely ambiguous as to what happened, and the other doesn't happen until the last 15 minutes of the film and is inflicted on the protagonists rather than inflicted by them.
All boring and over the top.
Snatch deserved to be on this list
I LOVE “DRIVE”
If "Matchstick Men" isn't in this list, I'm going to call shenanigans.
Not even a mention of prisoners ?..
I just decided to watch collateral again.
We can only guess where Honor Among Thieves would be on this list. It's an intriguing (if unlikely) spec script that got shopped around about talented burglars competing as a matter of pride.
It got picked up and assimilated so one film on this list could become a franchise. You know Honor Among Thieves by the title Ocean's Twelve.
pretty good list, but when I saw nightcrawler I thought it was going to be an X-men movie. still pretty good though
No Training Day, wow.
Blood Diamond? Bloody hell!
not really a crime movie
If we’re classing Gone Girl as a crime film then that is easily my favourite. Aside from that, I think the best are No Country For Old Men, Memories of Murder, the Departed and the Irishman
If you haven't already, I recommend watching Infernal Affairs which The Departed was inspired by. I think it's a tighter film IMO.
@@TheRumblewagon thanks for the recommendation. Will definitely check that out 👍
Gone girl had so many plot holes and overall unbelievable
Collateral is like a mysterious, thrilling & sneaky movie. I luvvvvv it but I'm so clueless as to why its underrated. Jamie & Collin work so well together...!!
Who is Collin?
The departed should be no 1
Javier Bardem 🔥🔥🔥🔥
out of all the movies on this list, idrc about the rest but my top 3 are zodiac, the departed and no country for old men (no specific order)
