Whoever says they thinks MJ was the ONLY skilled person in the league is either trolling or dumb. MJ wasn't even the most skilled person in the NBA during his era. He was the perfect mix of fundamental skill and athletics. And who are these ultra skilled players in this league now(terrible defenders, rebounders, play callers)? Who wouldn't crumble under the officiating of the 80s and 90s. All of todays top scorers stats would drop with out the freedom of movement rules and things like a gather steps. Most of these so called "skilled ball handlers" of today carry every time down the floor. If they had to deal with real physicality and hand checking... streetball moves would get called for carrying and traveling in the 80s and 90s. KD carry every time he do a crossover... NEVER gets called. STOP!
This new era of basketball so watered down with rules it seems like everybody has skills. Defense is basically non-existent. Last season two players scored 70 on the same day. Lol. Come on now. At any given day a player off the bench can lead the team in scoring. Sneezing on a player shooting a three could result in a four-point play. I mean is this even basketball anymore? Lol
That speaks to the change in skill lvl from then til now. Them boys were slow AF back then. Barely leaving the floor when they jumped. They had to be rough back then because they were trash cans. Nothing puts you to sleep faster than a hardwood classic 😂. Stop it
Saying that defense is non existent in this era is just false. The contenders play terrific defense. It’s the bottom feeders that are garbage on D. Same thing in the 90s. That’s why Luka scored 70 vs the Hawks, Embiid 70 vs the Spurs, and KAT 60 vs the Hornets. See the trend? It’s the trash teams that play no defense, not the contenders. So stop generalizing. Boston literally won a championship playing terrific defense.

Everyone knows joker and Luka are highly skilled it's just wembamyama became an unstoppable force bc of his size and skill. I agree ant isn’t as skilled as everybody thinks because he got torched against Dallas see these lil guys now have some type of success and start yapping if his team would have been eliminated or not made the playoffs as usual he would have not even been compared to mj to run his mouth he’s yapping like he’s just the best2 guard

And I can't remember them all.
The top 50 players back then had skill back in the 80's. What Mike brought was skill with athleticism. Guards were not allowed to dominate the offense back in the day. -------- The offense flowed through centers, which is why Hakeem went higher than Jordan in the draft. ------- If you were a scoring guard you would be benched if you took too many shots. Allen Iverson and Gilbert Arenas were one of the first guards to have the offense run through them cause the team didn't have an offensive big man. ------- Gilbert's career benefited from the right situation. When Mark Price could have scored more but he had to pass to Brad Daughtery.

Lol
Can barely watch a whole game anymore..shit is sad for real! 😂😂

I’m sorry but Gil in the arguments about what ant said was bullshitting. First off you can’t add random context to what he said. He never said he was just talking about shooting guards. He was speaking on players from that era as a whole. I wish Rashad had called him out on that.
If Rashad could get his point on correctly he could’ve won this argument, the quote was right there but he got too caught up in what Gil and Brandon said.
Right. He's trying to say what ant meant...when ant clearly said what he meant
None of these dudes today got more moves or skill than A.I. only Harden and kyrie come close with creative skill harden particularly with that and scoring
Confusing skill with talent like Rashad said
I'll take the most talented over skilled.
Quick word to Ant Man, them guys you saying have no skill, are the same ones that a lot of the greats who came after them went to for advice and SKILL lessons. Example: Hakeem, Magic, AI, Dr J, Bird, Moses Malone, Isiah and many more.
Also we’ve seen you before buddy, it’s called Penny (Pre Injury) and D-Wade. Those dudes I mentioned, CHANGED the game! If you don’t know about it, don’t talk about it.
Y'all not tired of these era debates by now?
I think people just forget how superior Jordan was, Jordan could score more in today's league with less defense and no hand checking. So if he can do that in today's league the people who limited him in the past weren't skilled? No one in today's game has Jordan's total package and the man hasn't played over 23 years. It's like if wembamyama dominated the nba for next 10 seasons and wins 6 titles. Will people say joker/luka was not skilled because they didn't win a title during wembamyama stretch run? Everyone knows joker and Luka are highly skilled it's just wembamyama became an unstoppable force bc of his size and skill. Jordan was an unstoppable force and it's not the other players fault he made skilled players look bad. And to be honest I'm sorry but a prime Larry bird would demolish ant Edward's, I saw him destroy Uber athletic players like Shawn Kemp. Most famous quote was when he was pissed a coach put a white player on him, that's how good Larry bird played.
Nobody today is doing what Michael Jordan was doing. Being allowed to carry the ball also doesn’t mean you have more skill
I gotta agree with McCants on the skill debate!
Man , this got me thinking about Gus Williams, World B Free, Mark Price, George Gervin, Reggie Theus, Kevin Johnson, Tim Hardaway, Reggie Lewis, Eric "Sleepy" Floyd, and other guards I enjoyed watching in the 80's.
Edwards said Jordan was the ONLY one, not the best or the most skilled, then said he didn't watch. That's utter nonsense.
Drazen Petrovic, Alex English, Isaiah Thomas, Gervin, Bird, Magic, Mahmoud Abdul Rauf, Strickland, Sabonis, Hardaway, Mullin, Kareem, Hakeem, Rex Champman, Grant Hill.
Allen Iverson shined in Reebok and he still sale shoes
Good to have McCants on to counter Gil’s narrative driven arguments
