People are low-class, selfish and disgusting out there. They just don’t care, unless it’s about themselves. A lowest common denominator and ever present race to the bottom in our new hillbilly & hip-hop culture. No one cares.
Looks like a nice spot. Should have some nice sunsets/sunrises camped there. You need to get yourself one or two removable flags you can put on the truck and see in your mirror(s). Something a bit taller than your highest point on the camper so you'll know you might make contact before you do. I used to have one on my truck back when I towed a trailer. It was helpful in letting me know I might be making some incidental contact. Enjoy your new digs. AE

I look forward to seeing more of your videos. How do you decide which direction to head towards, having the entire country as your office?
Glad you are enjoying the videos! I tend to travel towards where I have friends or family, or towards different events. In the summer, I also try to avoid the heat for the animals, so we head to higher elevations.
Hey Cass...Im not 100% sure but....i saw on another post where they said that they didnt 'get paid much ' for their shorter length vlogs but if they did vlogs longer than 10 mins ( even 10m10 secs) their monatized vids earned 4 x more ( dont quote me on the figures lol ).. Worth a check to see if this is accurate tho...Enjoying your vids & living the dream thru yours and others adventures..Stay safe and keep the vlogs rolling out..All the best
Thank you Simon, I truly appreciate the insight on that! I am not yet at the point where I can monetize my UA-cam (still need more viewer hours), so I haven't done much research into strategies. I'll keep the 10+ minute in mind. Thank you!!
The spot you left at the beginning looks very Familiar Right outside of Leadville below Turquoise lake ?! It's been one of my yearly destinations for the past 7 years!
The site looks great. Good choice 👍. How long did you stay there? From watching your other videos, I know that you work full time. On the recreational side, what did you do in that location for the rest of the time?
Thanks for the comment! Trying to work on a day in the life video so will try to touch on those items! Usually I am working and then hiking/cooking in the evenings.
Great, informative video as usual. I am relatively new to the RV / camping adventure. Like you, I am a remote worker in the healthcare industry and decided it’s time to see more. I have primarily stayed at “resorts” but want more of the boondocking. Any tips, especially apps or online that you have found useful to find locations open to boondocking?
The basecamp comes with a combined Black & Grey water tank. That seems to tie you to having to search out dump stations on a frequent basis. How do you address that when you are boondocking for extended periods? Many state parks have grey water only dump areas. It seems to me that you would fill the combo tank in 3-4 days if you take showers inside and then you have to search out a dump station.
Great questions! I’ll work on a video on that in the future. I can comfortably do a week with the tanks. If I really try to conserve, I can go two weeks in between dumps.
Great video ! Really impressed by how good your editing and content has gotten in just a few videos. Showing your normal day to day processes are exactly what I personally like to see. So when you say that you can stay 14-18 days... is there someone who holds you to that or is it just a guideline? Do you register to get into the area? Thx again for doing these!
Cassie, your middle name should be Charisma...because you've got it in abundance. I stumbled on some videos you're in and you mentioned working on a master's degree. I have no no doubt you'll do great! Trust me Cassie, I know these things!!! On a more serious note, we have two 4Runners in our family as potential tow vehicles and I've been taking a serious look at the Basecamp. Did you consider or actually modify the Toyota in any way, like, adding a transmission cooler, or, rear air shocks to keep the vehicle level? Also, any thoughts on how the 4Runner might handle the larger 20 foot Basecamp? Mileage while towing? Thank you!
Hi Joe! Thank you very much for the kind words! I did add air bags to the rear suspension to help with the sag. I originally had larger bump stops, but I don't recommend those for any off-road driving. Here's all the info: tailsofwanderlust.com/2020/08/26/toyota-4runner-mods/ Technically, the 20X is over tongue weight capacity of the 4Runner, although within towable weight. I personally wouldn't tow it with the 4Runner. As for mileage, I can get anywhere from 9mpg (high winds) to 13 mpg (slower speeds, hills where I just cruise downhill, etc.). Average is 11 mpg.
Thanks for the reply Cassie. Nice write-up for the 4Runner and very useful. I drive a 2008 4Runner with almost 190K miles and it has been super reliable. You've convinced me the rear air bags are a necessity after seeing the pics of your vehicle. Also like the on-board compressor. The transmission cooler add is arguable, though, installation would void the warranty. All the best Cassie!
Howdy! Ok I’m days away from getting the basecamp finally, and I need some advice. Airstream is offering additional things like the Weboost, airstream connect and surge protector. Because I work remotely I do want those things (although it’s my understanding that AS connect works with ATT which I have) but the issue I’m having are the exorbitant fees they’re charging for the hardware and installation. And I quote- The WeBoost is $1035 installed. The Airstream Connect is $1599 installed. The portable surge protector is $332 I wanted to ask if you had it done at the dealer, if you experienced similar prices, or if you did it yourself and it was easy? Many thanks! Still loving your content and refer back to it always as I prepare for my first set of adventures this winter :)
Hi! Thanks for reaching out! I have a WeBoost, but installed it myself. It is not permanently mounted, but instead I put on or off the roof via suction cups when needed. If you check out my internet video, you'll see the setup there. Others have mounted it to their trucks, but I feel that would be less convenient. I don't know much about the Airstream connect. I use a regular AT&T Hotspot as well as the WeBoost or Mimo antenna and that works for me (also in the internet video). Not sure what extra you get from Airstream connect. As for the surge protector, I don't have one as I boondock majority of the time. So I don't have to worry about hooking up my electrical. However, check out: campaddict.com/best-rv-surge-protector/. There are several options and it comes down to what you feel safest with. Hopefully that helps but comment back if you have more questions!
@@TailsofWanderlust Did you get the nighthawk hotspot or just a hotspot unlimited plan through ATT? Just now getting to that piece of the puzzle and seeing what equipment is necessary. Thanks again.
@@thomaswilson4441 Just the unlimited plan. But it is an old plan they don’t offer anymore. I put the SIM from the old device into the nighthawk I bought at Best Buy.
Thanks Jason! I have thought of one, but they do make hooking up a bit more complicated. Instead I went with air bags in the rear suspension, and the 4Runner has no issues towing with the current weight setup.
Sadly not on this trip, but I have in the past. With COVID I'm extra cautious since I'm traveling around and stay out of the towns. I really miss the food and breweries!
Hi, thanks for the great videos and I love your rig. I am picking up new 4Runner ORP with KDSS tomorrow. And just wondering, what are the average MPG pulling your Airstream? Happy Trails.

dumb question: when you say boondocking, you mean camp grounds where you go in, pay, they have store where you can buy things like fire wood, ice, water and the whole 9 yards or is this simply a national park that you can drive into and find a spot to park? I want to do this for next couple years across this beautiful country, i work remote so perfect opportunity for me to do this. excited but I have so many questions. looking for my tiny RV now.
Boondocking is when you camp without any hookups. This kind of boondocking is camping on public lands such as National Forests or BLM land. There's typically designated spots, but it's free camping.
I would guess that would be about accurate. When I camp with others with larger RVs I'm usually packed up and ready to go before them. Just a lot less stuff to pack up.
The kitty gets the front seat!! Why doesn't this surprise me!? Jasper is so sweet too... Great travel companions (easier than humans)!! ❤❤🐕🐈

I Can't wait to get out there and start my traveling days 🤓
I wish you the best on your future travels!
Thank YOU for sharing
You’re welcome!
Amazing mountain views!
Thanks for the comment Jennifer!
Great info. Learned a lot. thanks.
So glad, thank you Maria!
Loved the video! Such a beautiful area, I live just down the road in Pueblo! 😁
Oh that's awesome! Such a great place to be!
@@TailsofWanderlust If you get a chance, you should head south to San Isabel National Forest! That's our favorite place to take our travel trailer.
@@AnythingEverythingAshley awesome thanks for the suggestion! I haven’t been into that area before so added it to my places to go list.
Thanks for sharing the process of breaking down camp, and finding a new spot! I am infatuated with the nomad lifestyle and am so jealous of everyone that can work from the road.
Does Napoleon have a litter box? And what do you do for clothes washing? Really enjoying and learning from your videos. Thanks!
Hi Joan! Yes his litter box is underneath the bed, and we use laundromats when I need to wash clothes.
I think you are amazing I hope to experience life the same way soon.
Thank you very much, I hope you are able to someday!
Thank you!!
@@TailsofWanderlust no probs..hope its valid info for you.. viewers and vlogs will increase, im sure.. Take it easy
@@EnglishDude1668 Thank you, you as well!

Did I see Mount Albert and Massive? Use to live in Leadville ❤️
You did!! That's where I started in this video.
Thanks for sharing. Great tips.
Thanks for watching!
The spot you left at the beginning looks very Familiar Right outside of Leadville below Turquoise lake ?! It's been one of my yearly destinations for the past 7 years!
That’s the one!!
@@TailsofWanderlust enjoying life be safe and healthy 🙏🏼😍😗🤗

Already a big fan of your page. Thanks for those wonderful videos.
Is it safe to stay in the boondocking spot? How do you analyze the safety of spots.
You are welcome, really appreciate you checking the videos out! I'll cover more on safety in the future, but I rely heavily on reviews and my gut.
That is such a cute rv
Thanks Lori!
Hi Doug! Check out Campendium. That's a really good one for finding boondocking spots.
Like the videos would you do one on winter camping 🏕?
Will do!
Hi Drew! Thank you very much! Some places do have rangers that drive through and enforce the timeline, while others don't, so it can vary.
I can’t believe people leave their trash behind
Such a beautiful place and people don’t pick up after themselves
It is really sad, especially how much it happens. I just arrived to a place completely covered in beer cans.
Here's all the info: tailsofwanderlust.com/2020/08/26/toyota-4runner-mods/
Technically, the 20X is over tongue weight capacity of the 4Runner, although within towable weight.
Nice Love the set up
Thank you!
Were you popping popcorn every time you filmed? Hah. But seriously, thanks for the vid.
Thankfully, I've upgraded my audio equipment since then so no more annoying sounds!
And I quote-
The WeBoost is $1035 installed.
The Airstream Connect is $1599 installed.
The portable surge protector is $332
I wanted to ask if you had it done at the dealer, if you experienced similar prices, or if you did it yourself and it was easy?
@@TailsofWanderlust awesome, off to Best Buy, thanks so much!!!
Hey there. Have you ever considered a weight-distribution hitch? Or does it tow well enough that it’s not needed? Great video!
Thanks Jason! I have thought of one, but they do make hooking up a bit more complicated. Instead I went with air bags in the rear suspension, and the 4Runner has no issues towing with the current weight setup.
Nice spot! Makes me sick when people trash up sites.
Agree with you on that!
Did you go into town at all? I lived in Salida for several years and miss it so much. I miss that view too!
Sadly not on this trip, but I have in the past. With COVID I'm extra cautious since I'm traveling around and stay out of the towns. I really miss the food and breweries!
Great content! What happens when someone camps next to you and they allow their dogs to roam?
Unfortunately, if they are letting their dogs roam uncontrolled then we have to pack up and move.
Hi, thanks for the great videos and I love your rig. I am picking up new 4Runner ORP with KDSS tomorrow. And just wondering, what are the average MPG pulling your Airstream? Happy Trails.
Hi! Congrats on the new 4Runner. I get anywhere from 9mpg-14mpg depending on wind, speed & terrain.
Great video. How is the basecamp holding up through your ownership so far? I’m looking into them and I am also in the Austin area. Really enjoy your videos! Appreciate it
Thanks for watching the videos! So far the Basecamp has done very well. I do have a post with everything I've had to fix if you are interested: tailsofwanderlust.com/2019/01/30/airstream-basecamp-repairs-warranty-work/
@@TailsofWanderlust thank you so much. I read the review on your blog. Sorry late response but I appreciate it.

Thanks Travis!
dumb question: when you say boondocking, you mean camp grounds where you go in, pay, they have store where you can buy things like fire wood, ice, water and the whole 9 yards or is this simply a national park that you can drive into and find a spot to park? I want to do this for next couple years across this beautiful country, i work remote so perfect opportunity for me to do this. excited but I have so many questions. looking for my tiny RV now.
Boondocking is when you camp without any hookups. This kind of boondocking is camping on public lands such as National Forests or BLM land. There's typically designated spots, but it's free camping.
You are not pulling an "RV" you are pulling a travail trailer. A damn nice one at that.
Thanks for watching John!
If I had to make a guess, your pack up chores for a Basecamp seem about half as long as for a 30’ Airstream.
I would guess that would be about accurate. When I camp with others with larger RVs I'm usually packed up and ready to go before them. Just a lot less stuff to pack up.
Good video, nice channel.
Thank you very much!
Good info! Thanks!
Thanks for checking out the video Mike!
Do you have any problems not using a sway control or weight distribution hitch? It’s really sad that people don’t pack out their trash!
So far, with over 40,000 miles of towing, no issues with not having the sway or WDH. Thanks for watching!
