I'm glad that they never had Lee get a crush on Elle, or even remotely tease at their relationship becoming romantic. It's sweet to see a platonic guy/girl friendship, even though it's majorly toxic at times.

Their friendship isn’t realistic, it’s the female fantasy.
The fact that a lot of people from their class is at those things from their beach summer list, and also participating in some of them (Mario Karting and the Waterpark), is just what makes this movie also awesome and makes my heart whole. I think at those moments it's not just them in character, but the cast having fun too
I don’t care how dumb the Kissing Booth movies are, the friendship of Elle and Lee is the reason I watch them.
