Hey Geek Climber! I've seen the other video and its so great to see you two climbing together again! I'm excited for our meeting this summer. Hannah Morris may join us if the timing works! 🧗
Thanks so much for showing me around Santee!!! Loved those slabs, and there were SO MANY MORE TO DO! We'll have to do it again, but when it's not super melty hot so we can get that friction 🤌🏽
You gotta do the full traverse of that same boulder in the video… one of the best slabs there. Also there’s some much taller and sketchier slab there too
I would love a video where you go in depth trying different types of shoes! I feel like you could add your “geek” twist to it and come up with some “optimal” numbers that correlate to different climbs
Split screen comparison is a great idea! But for some reason it never crossed my mind when I edit the video 😅. I will keep that in mind for future videos!
Great video, geek climber! Thanks for sharing your struggles with us. That allowed her to provide valuable tips. I can definitely relate to that "trust your foot" part and always have to make me remember how much friction those climbing shoes have.
Awesomely fun video 🤩 Derpy & micro shakes-that’s genuine and cool. Appreciate Anna being like a normal climber, eventhough so high level. That slab is fun-done it with my daughter many times, but of course she was much better. 😆 Had the good fortune of an exclusive outdoor climber that had been climbing at Santee boulder for 25 years and outdoor for 45 years. He showed us how to climb a 5.9 with smear only on top rope. Of course my daughter, Jasmine got it, but not me.
Man I love Amphitheatre, from left to right it goes easy to hard so it's the perfect boulder to practice slab climbs in increasing steepness. I'd recommend to anyone going to Santee boulders to check out the Black Spot Problem and the Lieback on East Mudball/Lieback Rock.
The difference between indoors and outdoors slabs really is massive, especially when smearing, but even on edges (cause there's always some smearing involved) - indoors you can always test a foot before standing on it and tell whether it will hold you. Outdoors there's many footholds that are only good once you decided to just trust them and put all your weight on them, you can't test them or they'll feel like you'll fall - at least that is my experience outdoors. And it's definitely been a challenge but I'm starting to get more used to it.
The slab experience is so relateable, I love that you did not just walk up that rock like Anna but needed some attempts and sometimes lacked the courage. It's so impressive to see the progress throughout. Anna really did a great job with the tips AND encouragement :D
Thats my neck of the woods (Prior to moving to switzerland). literally would run out after work and climb till sundown. Santee can be brutal though, there are some tough climbs as well as Mission Gorge (Can be slick).
East county SD is underrated when you compare it with the rest of California but man we've got Woodson, ECM, Eagle Peak, Corte Madera, VOTM, Culp Valley, and even the small bouldering crags like Santee. We've got slick rock reminiscent of Yosemite all the way through to grippy rough rock reminiscent of JTree, I love it here.
Interesting, I could see Anna stays quite vertical . Her hips don’t come super close to the wall. I’m going to play with that next time I’m in the gym 😊
I used to add music to fill up the silence when no one talks during climbing, but I can fill up the silence with ambient sound on this one since it's outdoor climbing!
Ah, Santee boulders! How many good memories. I just found a very old (and crappy) video of me running up that slab in 2008 :) ua-cam.com/video/kjXG52AZubg/v-deo.html
@@DIYToPen no, she is elite in outdoor climbing. She's not an indoor comp climber. She has done some of the hardest climbs in her style. Climbs that only the top 1-2% of climbers could do
Awesome! It's always so nice when elite climbers can help us improve. I'm so greatful to the people at my gym and to you Geek Climber (and Hannah Morris and Rockentry). 🧗
Check out the other collab I did with Anna: ua-cam.com/video/hvC698j6Vko/v-deo.html, and also check out the BoulderUp app: bit.ly/boulderup!

@ScratchRick Adventures that's amazing! Looking forward to meeting with you and climbing with you!

Thanks again for coaching me to climb the sketchy Santee slabs! I would definitely love to have a second session with you in the near future!
damn this actually made me a fan of you
You climb as elegant as a cat! Thanks for sharing some tips with us geeks 🤓

If you want a fun smeary V2 I''d recommend the Black Spot Problem
Anna's encouragement on that last one was so wholesome, awesome job for pushing through and making it to the end!
Not gonna lie, I don't think I will send the last climb without her encouragement!
I've always loved how kind Anna is and seeing it in this video made me definitely smile:)
Great video as always and Anna is such a lovely and nice person .

I just *willed* you to get to the top, so tense! Great job, greeeeaaat video!
Your personality really shines through in this video Geek Climber! Anna is so confident on slab 😎
she's so underrated, the first accent was like butter.
Geek Climber one of us! Anna makes this stuff look way too easy ;)
So good I watched it twice; would be great to see a split screen comparison.😊

Anna's energy is great

I was waiting to see her pull on Jumpstart (without jumping)!
Nice send on the last slab!
Great teacher very fun to watch.
Ah the Elvis leg, now I finally know the name for it, and remedy! Thanks for this really nice video!
In german Nähmaschine = sewing machine :)

i came here for anna great content geek!
Would be good to see Anna meet Johnny Dawes.

I've literally ran up that first slab barefoot. Kinda fun starting with momentum cuz then you have to pick your foot placements very quickly.
I think it would be fun to get her and Emily together outside for another collab like this.
What Boulder problems are these? I may have missed where it was stated? Thank you 🙏🏽 I’m guessing this is on amphitheater

Slabs are really fun. For me they are just a bit scary, at least if I'm on a multipitch high above the ground and have to trust my feet on "nothing"

Lol she made it look so easy 🤣😂😭
Lol that’s because those problems are all easy
Her footwork is really incredible! She really showed me that climbing is not just all about pulling strength and finger strength.
Kudos!
Slabs are usually not as easy as they might seem ( or other people climbs), so much balance and body tension...
what grades were these? congrats man, nice slab climbing :)
all these banger vids
the first time you have a chance at the top is the second one you get a free pass and you can 🎉
"Just pistol squat up"
Ma'am, I'm a climber, my legs are made of jelly. I can maybe do two, shaking like a madman :D
Try the v-sit or any other of the variations
You should make video on learning flare and then air flare

really enjoyed the ambiant sound! add something more immersive or something

She is a sweetheart🥹
Did she say « modified shoes »?
NORTH WALES?? It’s a good day to live here
So falling off a slab, push so you land on the pad. What do you do if you SLIP? how do you not lose a knee? 😂
I like how physics don't apply to Anna.
Dude after watching some of your challenges why don't you go in the "Physical 100"?
跟壁虎一樣😂

But you didn’t propose.
She's going by "elite climber" now?
She is elite. She's done some very hard climbs in the UK
@@jamesclark6257 she's a good climber, and an influencer. To call everyone an elite climber lowers the bar a bit.

5.14a is pretty elite, isn’t it? How would you call a climber that almost climbs at a pro climber level?
