  • These two rifles are iconic pieces of Americana.
While it would be very unusual to go for either instead of something more modern, it's important (and fun) to still have a LBE setup for each.
Let's explore how we can use existing milsurp gear to carry ammo for both!

Thanks Rob! Glad to hear you've got some equipment over there. Can you tell me what gun culture is like where you live? Are there a lot of people that own? Do you get to train or shoot often?

@@DefiantTacticalTn It is a bit diffrent here we don't have protections in our amendments but we have a thriving gun culture despite that. We can get hunting licenses and that eables us to own semiaction and diffrent kind of manual action rifles. We also have gun clubs that enables us to own the same type of riles with less restrictions on barrel lenths (below 18,5"). There are also pistol clubs, so you can own most caliber revolvers and semiaction handguns. Everything is regulated by the police so there are a bunch of obsticles to pass. But it is worth it in my opinion as there is no other way if you are a law abiding citizen. I have pistol training tomorrow and prs raining Sunday :)
The one upside is that we can get suppresers without taxstamp, and you only need to own a weapon that accept one.

These systems were modified to great extent during the Vietnam War by both sides. Absolutely take what you have and make it work. Thank you Andrew for taking time out of your day to make these videos. I look forward to seeing more content, Bill..

Absolutely true! Grunts have been improvising and adapting with their equipment basically since the dawn of time.
I'm glad you enjoyed the video! As hard as it sounds I still can't believe that other people find this kind of stuff interesting just like me lol.

Andrew there is no shortage of people out there who want content on gear mods. I was issued Alice in the late 80’s and early 90’s. Mods were not part of our SOP. Thank you and I look forward to seeing what else you have in the works.

@@billdaniels8784 That's very cool. When you get a moment I'd love to hear about any of the mods or interesting setups that you remember from your time in the service.
And of course thank you for serving!

@@billdaniels8784 I first started using LBE in the late '90s for paintball, and for a very long time I used an LC2 Alice rig.
I played long duration scenario games that would last 24 or 48 hours all of which was on foot and I found the load-bearing vests and chest rig style gear at the time to be inferior to a good belt rig.

Andrew I firmly believe our friends in the Airsoft community have a great deal to offer by the testing of the gear they use. This is a great asset for the minute man to glean from.

Nice. I stuffed rags in a sks 10 pouch chest rig and sewn on some Velcro/buckles as well as using some old surplus east german grenade pouches.

Very cool! Not sure how I missed this, I try to respond to comments quickly. I'd love to see what you put together, it's awesome to repurpose surplus equipment like that.
You should throw together a video and share what you've got!

The extra snap on the Alice 3 mag pouch was use for mag retention or silencer flaps. Look like they were cut out of yours.

Interesting, I don't think I've ever seen another Alice mag pouch that had those buttons, and I've owned quite a few. Was that an early or later generation mag pouch? Or issued only in areas or climates where that would be necessary?

@@DefiantTacticalTn not sure how or when they were used. I got a couple with the flaps still in tact.

I think the molle M4 (stanag) two mag pouches in the end of the video. Where intended for the M1/M14 mags, aswell as the new at the time in service ar10 (sr25/m110) mags. Don't qute me on that though hehe
