Practical EDC VS 3 Gun match - how far can you shoot a simple 10.5 inch AR?
Переглядів 5521 день тому
This weekend I went to a 3-gun shooting match to have fun and practice firearm technique! I used tactical equipment, my EDC Glock 19, my go-to 10.5 inch AR, and my old Ithaca 37 clone shotgun, to engage targets out to 500 yds, from inside of vehicles through auto glass, and into a vehicle through auto glass. No "competition" equipment, spandex, shotgun shell caddies, or other specialized gear. ...

bersa thunder cc .380 review - excellent budget carry option!

The bersa thunder 380 CC is an excellent choice for concealed carry. It's slim, lightweight, has a reasonable capacity for its size, and is priced for even the most modest budget. It's also packed with safety features that appeal to new firearm owners. And looks great on top of that!

VOZAPOW Airsoft goggle review part 1 - before the field
Isn't it strange the U.S. MILITARY went away from the H-harness? The earliest H-harness kits in Vietnam were way better than the Y-HARNESS. the Airforce GWOT YRS H-harness is a fantastic setup it's padded shoulders & waist pluss its split in front and the pals back panel for packs/pouches . Thanks for sharing ❤
Really glad you liked this! What kind of rig do you use? And I definitely agree. Our experience with belt kit dating back to World War II and possibly before all indicated that the h harness was extremely effective. The switch to the Y harness doesn't make any sense except perhaps to save a little bit on nylon cost. I'm sure somewhere a document exists where design teams laid out logic for the change and it was approved. I'd love to read those one day.
I like this setup. I just looked and because I recognized those strap end attachments. On the back straps of the TAPS chest rig have those same metal tabs but instead of the old clip snaps you just thread the webbing. I built my web gear back in 1977 but I used the 1950s H-harness and butpack with the BAR pouches and belt. When the BAR pouches broke I went in for the Alice pouches in the 90s. I just up graded in 2024 I grabbed a FLC then rapidly went to the airforce LCS H-harness a TAPS a padded battle belt and a London bridge plate carrier 😅 I went bonkers this year fell in love with the ABU tigerstripe all of it is in this camouflage. with the exception of the taps. Fun to find your site and somebody else into web gear....yes I still call it that😊
O on your sons kit you can put the 100 ounce bladder on the back and use it as a nice size backpack pocket . I haven't invested in LCS V2 they do have that extra belt pals space. Yes it dose seem the airforce went with the more battle ready web gear versus the ground assaulting military.
@@DefiantTacticalTn I'm using the Airforce H-harness now. Plus I can throw my battle belt on for more mags. I live behind enemy lines California 10 round magazine's.
How do you dye your pouches and what are they? Guessing USMC surplus because it's all one flat color instead of a pattern. I'd love to do this to some of my kit so it doesn't stick out so much when worn.
Most of that gear started life as army surplus UCP, believe it or not. I used Rust-Oleum camo colors from Walmart! It worked really well, though with enough scrubbing it will rub off a little. No matter, easy to reapply or change for changing seasons.
@@DefiantTacticalTn Really, just straight up spray paint? I've used that on other stuff but haven't tried it on any nylon or anything. That's really the biggest reason I asked honestly. They practically sell UCP by the pound and dying or painting it into something usable would be really cost effective. Awesome stuff, thank you so much!
Love those H-types
Nice kit! Well done 👍🏽
Exquisite video and very informative, awesome job! Definitely subscribing and hoping to see future videos from you.
I was looking to make this exact rig w my flc belt, those other rigs were very cool. I have a og camelback assault pack, I think I may be able to combine the flc vest with that, to make a SADF style battle jacket.
Thanks very much! I have slowed down a bit while figuring out how to use a new go pro camera but have some more footage to put up this week hopefully!!!
The PPK is not a great gun to shoot, the PPS (which the Bersa Thunder was based upon) is much more shoot-able, don't overlook it.
Do you mean the PP? I can see the resemblance of the PP to the Bersa Thunder, But the PPS looks like a more modern pistol. I'm not very experienced with Walther's offerings or German guns in general, thank you very much for the input!
this is for air force security, hence defensor fortis, part of their motto. so they do have to patrol the base and airfields on foot with this
That definitely makes sense for the design and use case then. Thanks for the comment!
If you can't reach behind your butt pack you need to do some yoga or some shit lol how are you wiping your ass😂
Good layout. True a out having to take off to reach rear as I had to do to reach my medical gear and got into fire fight. Used similar layout for e&e in case I had dump my ruck. Used in Vietnam on recon missions.
@@ReinaldLPope You wound up in a firefight while you had your gear off to reach for medical equipment? Talk about bad timing 😂 I'd love to hear more about your experience if you feel up to sharing. Thank you for answering the call when the time came for the Vietnam War!
Had the cc upgraded to the plus ... Also have the TPR9 LOVE THEM. THE PLUS is my EDC. The cc is very thin you forget its on you.
That's exactly right! That's what I love so much about it. It's the polar opposite of my Glock 19 - which isn't exactly huge, but the difference is big enough that I think it fills a very different role. You don't have the CC anymore? Did you not like it, or just needed something with more capacity?
@@DefiantTacticalTn wanted the capacity, and i live between 2 commie states and have to cross the Imaginary line. Like i said id forget i had it on me.. Learn something every day…. Great idea. Just a guess on that mystery pouch. It kinda looks like a 40 mm M203 Grenade Pouch. Not for HEDP but for the oversized signaling rounds. Star Cluster or Star Parachute rounds. They are way longer than the more typical HEDP (High Explosive Duel Purpose) 40 mm rounds.
Thanks! You might be right about the pouch. It's a lot thinner than the 40MM pouches I've seen in the past. When I put my tomahawk in it, the thin grip just about fills it. Although now that you mention 40MM, I bet you could make a pretty good grenade bandoleer / belt out of one of these....maybe that needs to be my next project for my 37mm launcher........
@@DefiantTacticalTn That’s actually a really good idea. I no longer carry a M203 but if I did… I think that belt would work perfect. And you could customize where each individual type could be placed. If you needed more signaling… just un-Molle and stick what you need on it. In Iraq I got sent out an old Vietnam Grenadiers vest… but it took a tremendous amount of stiching ot make it work. the old HE aren’t the same dimensions as the HEDP.
Great video, thank you!!!
You're welcome! Hope it was useful.
Great comparison video. Thank you!
You're welcome. Thanks for watching!
Thank you for your review. I'm working through setting up a belt now from an FLC. I don't have a lot of confidence in the Fastex buckle. Does anyone have any recommendations for an upgrade there?
Hi thanks for watching! So, I've been running this battle belt for several years now. I've never had a problem with the fastex buckle itself breaking or disconnecting. If that's what you're worried about, you might consider looking into aftermarket fastex buckles that are maybe higher quality, or a different kind of buckle (metal maybe?) that fits the same width nylon strap (2.5 inch if memory serves, could be wrong). What I have had a problem with is loosening. That's less of a problem with the Velcro modification I made since, even if the buckle were to loosen the velcro keeps the belt in place. The solution to that for me at least was to add triglides behind the buckles. The triglides prevent slippage on the nylon. I hope that helps, and whatever you end up doing I'd love to hear more.
@@DefiantTacticalTn Thank you. I will be ready to wear the belt for a range trip in the next couple of weeks. I’ll try the Fastex buckle before making a change. My concern is having the belt tight enough to hold a holster securely enough for a draw. We’ll see, and I’ll try to remember to report back.
I see. That is a valid concern. But I found is that without the Velcro backing to hold the belt in place, you will experience some shift which can foul a draw. And with rapid movement you may also experience that movement causing the buckle to loosen. That was one factor that led me to the triglides. A high holster will also tend to tip away from the belt from the top, so I'd recommend using a mid or low ride holster if you can.
I considered getting one of these in the doublestack model but could not find one anywhere near me to look and fondle first. There is a U tube video walkthru of the Bersa factory and these are almost totally made on CNC machines these days. I have a couple other larger 380 pistols I ended up buying that I enjoy. I have yet to shoot a blowback style, fixed barrel 380 but I hope to find a Bersa Thunder Plus 15+1 someday just to plink with etc.
@@PatriotPaulUSA I used to own a single stack full size bersa thunder. Honestly it's width at the grip was pretty close to the width of my Glock 19 and so I got rid of it because if I was going to carry something that large I'd rather have the Glock with my red dot and 9 mm ammo. To me where this platform shines is when it can be significantly smaller and slimmer than a full size double stack pistol, and that's why the bersa thunder CC model I review here is so interesting to me. The doublestacks are definitely hard to find. If you do share a video I'd love to know how You like it once you get hands on!
@@PatriotPaulUSA i waited over a year to find the Plus. Between Scarce availability, and the fact they sell out quickly i jumped on it when they got a few in.
The regular mag holds 8 rounds not 7. With the long double action trigger you can pocket carry it also without a holster. The sights are very small but in a close selfdefense situation you would hardly use sights anyhow.
@@Gieszkanne You're right, 8 rounds not 7. And I agree with a double action with safety, you can carry it a lot of ways you can't carry a striker fired pistol. I often carry mine appendix with a simple holster I made that clips onto my belt and inserts into the barrel. I can tuck my shirt around it and it's pretty much invisible. In general I would disagree with the assertion that sights aren't used in self-defense, but I think you're kind of right in the case of this pistol. It's not meant for precision shooting at distance. It's sights are a compromise. For me, point shooting I can get torso hits out to about 15 yd reliably, even with movement. 25 yards becomes a little dicey.
I have the Plus version. Extra rounds in a superb piece .
That's awesome! I had a full sized bersa thunder for a while and it was truly a pleasure to shoot. I think I've seen the Plus model once in the wild maybe...do you see them often?
@@DefiantTacticalTn I don't see the Plus version around, but that extra fire power is amazing. I have 2.
Local surplus store has full rifleman flcs, gonna make some rifleman belt kits now for 15 a pop.
Fantastic; I'd love to see what you come up with!
Ive got MOLLE plate carrier but i perfer a.l.i.c.e. style gear, even i use suspenders on my duty belt when i work armed security. Even my carpentry belt i swear looks like a.l.i.c.e. gear to me.
@@Kq4hcuDan it all definitely has its place. ALICE It's hard to beat if you're walking around on foot a lot. Our bodies simply carry weight better around our waste than anywhere else. Be careful out there running security!
@@DefiantTacticalTn I worked it for 13 years and four months all facets from executive protection, high threat psd convoys, to regular armed security guard lol. Not anymore lol
I've had ALICE gear for 40 years and now have just about everything that is issued in MOLLE II with the exception any Air Force issued gear. I have several FLCs and just got a TAP panel. I like the fact that with your example I can integrate ALICE and MOLLE II gear to make something unique. Thanks for sharing.
@@steveturner3999 thanks! I'm glad you liked it. It kind of is sort of a best of both worlds in some ways. What do you think of the TAP? I have one too, I don't know if I've done a video on it. I think it's a little too big to be a real chest rig, but I like wearing it a little bit lower over my belly. I like the built-in mag pouches, and I don't like having a whole lot right over the center. Gets bulky fast.
@@DefiantTacticalTn I agree with you about wearing the TAP lower down. I like it overall as it gives you options and can be "tricked out" like any of the load carrying gear. I’m so glad for UA-cam in that it can put people together from all over to share their ideas and actually show the results of their ingenuity. Thanks again for sharing yours.

Good, very balanced deployment on both right/left sides to ensure body movement & payload in equal.
@@juweikwen4030 thanks! Yes, balance is super important for this sort of gear. One of those things you might not notice to begin with, but a couple hours into wearing full kit you sure do 😂
I have an alice kit setup and love it with the only downsides being the y strap to a degree for comfort, the mag pouches being still quite small compares to eagle mag pouches or those that you have. Next is the butt pouch, Ive yet to find one that is even slightly reasonably priced, and thats for the black hawk ones alone. Went with a rothco I sprayed with some couch water repellent spray, and then shoe gooed some of the weak stitching lines.
Very nice. Definitely consider looking into a h harness to replace that y harness. As for the mag pouches, I think the Alice triple mag pouches are about the same size as the universal mag pouches I have mounted in this video, are they not? The only thing is that the universal ones can be cinched down to hold less, while the Alice mag pouch is fixed. As for the butt pack, That's definitely a struggle. The repro ones are not always great and the USGI ones you can find are not always cheap. Hopefully you can find something that does the job or swap out for a waist pack like in the video.
Yes, it was always by intent. Great to see it being used that way….
That's good to know! Can you give any more details on the design intent of the FLC or inner belt, generally? I love that kind of info, if you have it.

The FLC innerbelt is a very underrated belt. I would buy the FLC for about $4 and would cannibalize the belt, straps, and panels. Even made one into being a belted harness very much like what my dad rocked out with in Vietnam. For the price, they are perfect kits for budget friendly builds.

Where's your knife, compass, ifak, sidearm?
@@tonyvillarreal3610 I use a Gerber strong arm and when wearing this LBE I would put it on my belt instead of on the LBE. There isn't any space on the LBE itself and I'd rather have it right on my person. My compass, which when I filmed this video was in another rig, would go in one of the side pouches on the GP/canteen pouches. In the video I mentioned that an IFAK could fit in a number of different pouches. Since I typically run a USGI IFAK, The insert can go in one of the GP pouches as well. Finally, there's no sidearm with this rig. How does it ride with an Alice pack?
@@blakebrewton9346 as with any web kit, when worn at the right height, the waist pack / butt pack sits right where the kidney pad on a ALICE pack should sit. That said, it works fine with a medium Alice pack without a frame especially if it's being carried in the assault configuration. Maybe I'll do a video on that sometime too. Thanks for the question and thanks for watching!
@@DefiantTacticalTn web gear was before my time but I am starting to see the need for the belt style setup.
@@blakebrewton9346 no worries! :-) I was a teen during the early 2000s when we were transitioning so my earliest kit was ALICE LC2 kit. Belt kit like this is typically worn right around the kidneys / small of back. I wasn't in the service, but for road marches or when wearing an ALICE pack, the front would be unbuckled and lowered / the back raised up. The butt pack could also be removed and stowed while rucking, but then you still have the kidney pad against the belt, which has keepers / suspender hooks in it, which would dig into you, so that's not a great option either. A small pack that sits on the upper back integrates well, but that limits amount of weight you can carry.

@@DefiantTacticalTn It is a bit diffrent here we don't have protections in our amendments but we have a thriving gun culture despite that. We can get hunting licenses and that eables us to own semiaction and diffrent kind of manual action rifles. We also have gun clubs that enables us to own the same type of riles with less restrictions on barrel lenths (below 18,5"). There are also pistol clubs, so you can own most caliber revolvers and semiaction handguns. Everything is regulated by the police so there are a bunch of obsticles to pass. But it is worth it in my opinion as there is no other way if you are a law abiding citizen.
