I just replaced mine yesterday. Now, I will open up the old one to check it out. FYI, I got my new servo straight from bowflex. $18 shipped. Ive ordered a new control panel, crank puller, and the washer kit from them too. Very reasonable prices. Don't pay the scalpers on ebay and amazon.
I just replaced mine, and opened the broken one: the teeth of both the driving cog and the cog that drives that cog were stripped. I blame it on the counter spring which is way too strong. I replaced it with one with a wire of 0.7 mm, making it half as strong as the original spring which has a wire of 1 mm.
Thanks for taking the time to post this. I’m experiencing the same issue with mine and narrowed it down to the servo motor. Did you in end up replacing or fixing the motor?
I work on copiers and printers for a living and my experience has also been that motors rarely fail. Usually it is a gear within the drive pack with the motor. On these kinds of motors, often the worm gear is loose and spinning on its drive shaft. I just bought the motor pack from Nautilus for about $23 USD after shipping. No idea why yours was so pricey. Ill open mine up after replacement to see what actually failed.
I opened mine up as it started making a tapping/knocking sound as it tried to pull on the cable. The nylon gear right next to the largest gear was stripped about 20% of the circumference of the gear.. and honestly it's a garbage design.. pulling on that brake cable for the magnet as well as the return spring is a lot of force to hold for such garbage Chinese plastic gears.

If it runs longer than it should it is the B5K 270 degree potentiometer that controls the position of the gears. Fixed mine for $1.50
Do you have a part number for the potentiometer you used?
Just received my servo motor. It would’ve $19, but the Bowflex representative shipped it out to me for free.:)

How did you arrive at the loose wire assessment? I was planning to buy a motor after trying to adjust the brake magnets.

What failed on yours?
@@gewickG I took the motor pack apart and didn't find any failed gearing. So I am left to assume it was the motor itself.
@@YoSpiff thanks

What did you do to fix yours? Replace the servo ?
Thanks, I needed this. You may be interested in P-R-O-M-O-S-M!
