The Vancouver Anti-Asiatic Riot Of 1907

- In 1907, 10,000 Canadian and Americans marched through Vancouver in a parade organized by the Asiatic Exclusion League, which was pushing for the banning of all Asians from coming to Canada.
The parade quickly turned into a two-day riot that would destroy dozens of homes and businesses in Japantown and Chinatown.
Rather than use this riot as a reason to make Canada more inclusive, the government of British Columbia and Canada used it to double-down on racism.
Today, I look at the riot that changed Vancouver.

The AEL was formed in San Francisco. Vancouver's branch was an adjunct. The Knights of Labour - also of American origins - were essentially defunct by 1907, replaced by a range of other orgs, the foremost of which was the Trades and Labour Council (who were almost certainly represented among the AEL).
The headline at 3:54 is from Bellingham, Washington, not Vancouver. Sikhs were viciously attacked by the American AEL and driven from the city. Many escaped to British Columbia.
As to voting rights, the first act barring Asians from representation was in 1872. A litany of further prohibitive acts and amendments followed, specifically aimed at Chinese, Japanese, and Indian immigrants. The 1908 law you referenced was in fact the 1907 Provincial Elections Act amendment that specifically prohibited "Hindus" from voting.

Because they came in 1914 and the riots started and ended in 1907.

And now you know why people didn't want them to come here the south Asians have conquered surrey and abbotsford to and their not stopping their quest to conquer as much of Canada as they can they come here and build their own city's within the city's and the government invites hundreds of thousands of them to Canada every year and by 2050 the white people will be the minority and the culture will be gone as they have already started changing it and removing certain things like certain celebrations saying they offend their religion like mothers day kids can no longer make arts and crafts for their mothers in school which is something kids in elementary school have done for decades they are working on having the airshows banned ended in Canada because the jets give some of them PTSD they claim reminding them of being in a war zone before they came to Canada I could go on but there is no point but my point is that this is the reason why people didn't want immigration in Canada because they don't come and just live here they change it to be like their home country and take advantage of the freedom and clean environment I might sound racist but I have friends of many different races I just put it like this what would they think if white people moved to their country and started changing laws and culture and taking over whole cities making them the minority do you think they would be smiling happy about it.. Not a chance
south asians were only Punjabis sikhs
Iranian and Afhan are also south asians. There are quite a number of them in Hong Kong.
They were Hong Kong police from the mid 19th century to around the mid 1930's.
