I remember having this toy as a kid when the film came out, and I remember losing a wheel the same day I bought it at Universal Studios, but yeah I still liked him and the funny General Grievous gimmick
Gotta say some credit to give for an action gimmick. It a small stretch that might be in reach for a young transformer fan. But to us that stretch is a bit tougher to swallow
Obi wan: "hello there" General grievous prime: "Ah general kenobi, your face will make a fine addiction to my collection" *proceeds to all four arms chopped off*
@@Jcc2224 yeah, but 2014 was a massive shift. The AOE Dinobot toys put out by Hasbro were small, cheaply made, and flimsy, while their KO counterparts were big, sturdy, cheap of cost, and, crucially, featured *metal.*
I remember back when Age of Extinction came out, and how fucking awful the toy launch was in the UK. Even during the initial release date, a few weeks after and even months; it took forever for deluxe's and voyagers to hit shelves.
Thanks for the nostalgia, these shelfwarmed until clearance. These were back then when you could still find Optimus and Bee figures easily and not have to go online.
I hated this time because Hasbro thought it was a good idea to focus on cheaply made easy transformers and use older molds from TF1-TF3 and Prime to make the smaller £10 figures
Transformers come on two classes - brilliantly engineered, accurate and usually expensive... And cheap garbage that wouldn't make the cut for a Happy Meal.
During dotm and AOE, I kinda stopped getting them for a while dude to really cheap and stupid simple designs and just the complete lack of paint. Loke some were just solid colors and it was really jarring. There were some good ones, but the majority just took a nose dive in quality. 😅 it's During that time they wanted really simpler transformers and the over figures kinda suffered a bit.
I had this toy when the movies came out but it was not this version. I don’t know if it’s a japanese exclusive but i had a nemesis prime version because i’m a navy brat so i lived in japan when the movie came out and saw it in the japanese giant convenience store that my family and friends would go to all the time
Looks weird as a toy but if he did that in the movie everyone would lose their minds The idea of an amorphous transformer that can convert his body to anything needed in that moment like that would be awesome

Arguably the most clean looking Knight Optimus figure that Hasbro's ever done

That figure was my first Optimus prime figure EVER

I used to have that optimus figure before. Good times

2014 was the year Transformers became knockoffs, and knockoffs became acceptable.
Transformers has always had trashy toys, the movies just made them more prominent. lol

Atleast thus one doesn't have a giant backpack
GENERAL MEGATRON!
Plugs a bit different but at least truck mode looks pretty cool
I mean that’s kinda clever how the arms hide away and the chest (if you can even call it that) comes forward with arms on its back??
I think it's kinda cool I would buy
My kid would dig it

Idk why they decided to simplify the toy designs as much as possible during the time when Bayformers were the most complex
Cool

I have the dinobot scorn from this subline, he has a "tail whip", it looks very peculiar if you keep the legs squozen

Age of Extinction toy line, truly the toy line of all time.
I have that toy
It is weird because you picked out a weird toy. There are so many great transformers of that version of optimus prime.
Nah I have this one, i broke the sword tho
the sword looks a lot like the dark star saber hilting
Yah, that’s just weird 🤨

this is really specific, but… he swings his sword like he's in a really cheaply made bootleg nes game.
Yooo, I have this one!
That's actually a cool gimmick if done right, and there are TF 4-5 Optimus versions that look worse and have a longer transformation
I got this for my birthday and immediately broke it because it wasn’t using the sword

I always keep by bots in their vehicle mode. I advise y'all ro to so this so they'll be safe if they fall or someone touches them
My brother has over 50 of that specific optimus prime he is obsessed with transformers tbh i do also like transformers
I had an optimus who you pushed down and he transformed but he sucked and his arms always fell off, and he was just bad
Having to make the toys look similar to the characters that were in the Bayverse movies must have limited their creativity. A lot.
Wasn't even made right the two wheels are on his legs not the truck cab as his legs but it was cheaply made clearly

That is actually a pretty cool idea and concept, but you can see that it wasn't really executed as good as other toys released at the time.
Why are optimus' legs his hands now?
Don't forget the bumblebee movie line had some wired toys too
Yeaaaah idk who is giving the okay for these figures, but they need to get fired.
I had that one when I was younger. I had so much fun with it cause it was ridiculous
Besides that.
I hate that the Front of the truck now is his Feet, that is just wrong
I don't think the age of Extinction is bad I really like it.
That looks like a horrible design. Plus terrible playability.
That thing looks like you could squeeze it and it’d shatter to pieces

How many have you a use toy just broken in half trying to transform it
Consequences of having a design that hides all vehicle parts.
What is it attempting to simulate with such a bizarre movement?
i still have that
This is straight up trash, Hasbro's been literally selling trash to us
He’s backwards his arms are usually in front lol
