  • This is the follow up from part one, the conditions are met for a successful detection and measure of accelerated particles in a homemade Linac.
The results are cross checked and scrutinized for reliability. A lot more work and footages did not make it to the final video, but I am very happy with the results. Obviously, I do not have the power needed for nuclear reaction, but the principle of operation are here. Enjoy!

What your doing reminds me of the story I heard Michio Kaku talk about years ago, How he built a particle accelerator in his garage as a kid. He has gotten too repetitive for me so I have moved on. I think string theory is also dying out as well. But seeing you actually build one is fascinating to me. I drink in physics, I read and search stuff like this. Hearing you talk about the vacuum in the tube, boggles my mind what CERN has to do to achieve the same. Physics is the ultimate description of everything, with math being the universal language describing it. @@Neptunium

@@Neptunium It's only another experimental scientist who can understand what this kind of achievement really takes. It's an uphill battle for sure.
Since the difference between just playing around and science is recording measurements and publishing it, that makes you a experimental scientist in my book. There certainly exist people with PhD's who couldn't manage this much.
I won't name names, but consider the initial velocity one has from thermionic emission, (which leads to self-biasing) and why that means that for a electrostatic fusor with recirculation (the condition that injected electrons are never quite able to reach the outer walls, because of the bias of the grid), that the electron source needs to be placed somewhat inwards from the (conductive, thus always looking like ground because it's a faraday cage) walls, else the electrons will just hit the wall on the far side after a single 'once through' pass. And then, consider that the gun needs also a slight positive bias so as not to interfere with the shape of the electric field to the walls. (else the electrons may as well have been emitted from the walls). It's okay for electrons to come back and hit the emitter - that's just going to create secondary electrons, which will just help conduction, so it's okay that the emitter itself is where recirculating electrons can reach it. No loss of supply current there. The idea is that the grid is the only place they can reach, and for the polywell, that the grid has crucially just enough magnetic field so that only the cooler of the electrons can reach it.
A serious attempt was made to create a polywell fusor, except that the electrons were sourced from a gun *outside* the chamber. They were never able to reach a high beta because of this, since every injected electron ended up reaching the far wall, as you'd expect. This happens no matter what the grid bias is, since it's never able to take away the initial velocity from the electrons, where they had that in a particular direction starting outside of the chamber. It can only subtract as much as it can add.
A paper you'll want to chase down, if you can: link.springer.com/article/10.1007/s10894-017-0147-9
You self-qualification is as good as your data is, and from this video - it's convincing enough. A youtube video may not be a nicely-written pdf generated by Latex, but those are only aping the papers of the giants on whose shoulders we stand. If YT had been around back then, they'd be doing exactly as you are.
      Thanks!
