- After a few checks on the Rover known as Janet DATA Jackson I decided I may as well bung in the Chaz Lee ECU to see if I can relive some of the fun I had with a previous car called Eric. The Eric playlist is below:

I remember Eric aka zombric good simple engineering diesel with the chaz Lee ecu makes it great in my option well worth doing love a old skool diesel
Dare I say it what about that engine and tuned ecu in nigel with the sdi injectors and some more tuned mods that would make a insane car ?
Chaz Lee, and the spirit of Eric enters another 25. Glad you got to have the Eric experience again.
Just until I sell it.
Love a diesel, love the driving style they give. Love the extra mpg too.
to anyone whos thinking of buying a mg zr or a rover 25 this is a list of parts and work that you will need to be replacing and doing if you own one long enough, rear tailgate loom breaks at the hinges due to poor design, rear wiper motor, rear wheel arches due to rust, rear sills due to rust, front wings due to rust, rear back exhaust, inlet manifold gasket, thermostat housing due to cracks, rear metal water pipe due to rust, head lining, drivers front outer door handle, front window motors, front central locking motors, head gasket, heater bypass valve, wiring by the battery, alarm sounder, relays in the pectron unit, sunroof unit due to rust, headlights due to fade, cam cover gasket due to leaks, steering rack leaks, heater resistor, front seats fall apart,if you have a garage keep the car in it and only take it out in dry weather or it will rust, the early production cars are better built than the new facelift models, also its hard to get decent parts to keep them on the road these days,if you go to test drive one when you first start the car the engine will be noisey on the top end and when driving the car it will rattle and creak etc but all of that is normal with a mg zr and a rover 25.
That tall bloke left a ghost to rattle around in JdataJ, I'd say. You've seen how he hoofs it to work on the back roads when there's wine in the fridge. A very Diesel day for you. At least you can talk about them...on this channel.😂
Diesels or tall men? 😅
There's a great song from the late 70s by the oft underrated and virtuoso band, The Stranglers, called 'No More Heroes'. The lyrics reference the absence of several prominent 'heroic' characters of their time. Perhaps could be a new version called 'No More Rovers' - it would fit the meter of the lyrics well as well as the sentiment.
The late Eric is remembered fondly as one of our lost Rover heroes. 😟 However, together with Chaz Lee, might we have made a new hero? Am (almost) shiny off-white beacon among today's ugly grey boxes on wheels? Time to boldy go where no Chaz Lee L series has gone before!😄
Great idea. I could include Rover in loads of songs, actually.
Rover in Stranglers songs...
Sweet smell of success.
If something's gonna kill me.
Something Better Change.
Let me down easy.
No mercy.
Hanging around
In the sewer.
No more heroes.
😉
I know all the songs but where does Rover come in?
@@D.Dastardly perhaps look at it as a time line? The history of Rover perhaps. From success to gone...
@ Ok I see 😄! I guess you must be a longtime Stranglers follower like myself.
I love L series i must admit i prefer them in the 45. I miss my old 45 i missed my audi so much I bought another one 😂😂😂
Another good video Paul 👍👍👍👍👏👏👏🍻
Oooo bit of l series action 😜
I must get another one of these. I had a scruffy gold three door 25 that used to bother a lot of 'quick' cars. You can modify that engine with an adjustable spanner and a hammer.
Have you fiddled with the nut on the boost control? I gained a mighty 5.5 bhp by increasing the relief pressure.
Amy Winehouse, Kurt Cobain, Elvis, Bon Scott, Buddy Holly, Eric the Rover 25. So many greats taken far too early. It's incredible how diesels have come on isn't it? The first diesel car I drove regularly was my then girlfriend's non-turbo Polo from the mid nineties and it did nothing for my reluctance to ever drive one regularly in the future. I did enjoy never having to put any fuel in it though, that was nice. The first diesel I actually owned was a Mk5 Golf with 170bhp and in gear acceleration that would beat a Ferrari (if you chose the right gear and speed measure) and it was spectacular, like it was powered by rocket fuel in comparison to the Polo from a decade and a bit prior. The downside was it had terrible fuel economy for a diesel because sticking your foot down and feeling the thing surge forwards was far too addictive. I'm sure driven normally it would have returned perfectly acceptable economy but I wouldn't know. It sounds very much like you have something similar in Janet Jackson, hopefully without having to mourn the demise of your mpgs.
Why do we love acceleration? Even us proper grown-ups
@@ProjectNigelI think it's because for most of us, life is quite sanitised and there are very few opportunities to experience a real physical force. The only visceral experience readily available to the modern man is briefly flooring it in a diesel hatchback.
Because we haven't grown up yet😂@@ProjectNigel
🤪👍
It's an angry granny car.......grangry😂
😅
Wow, what a transformation! However making an ordinary 25 into a hot hatch is all very well, but if you were to do the same to the tourer, which is your everyday car, could you cope with the extra fuel consumption? 🤔
I wouldn't actually do it.
@@ProjectNigel I know, Iwas just being hypothetical 😆 (Ooh read my belated comment on your Voivod video).
Need sdi's aswel captain 😂
How much is this £500 CL ecu'd Rover R3 😊
50 billion £££s
@@ProjectNigel50 billion and a freshly cooked pizza 😂
"Chaz Lee." He's not related to Bruce Lee? Is he?😏
Driving has got so boring in the last few years, if it's not dodge the potholes it's an Audi/BMW up your tailgate
What was the point of having/ making a diesel car? Yes , fuel economy! So why make diesels fast? What happens to the fuel consumption? Pointless! Watching my fuel consumption is not fun Paul. I have a car because I enjoy driving it, not worried about how many miles it does to the gallon! If I was worried about that, I would catch the bus. That has to be the best fuel consumption for your penny. So diesels are a waste of time for me, but then again I'm a petrol head😊
