If we don't change our strategy to get Son more chances, we don't have a better chance of winning. I'd say most of our fan base agrees. there are those who get to enjoy the stadium on a regulare basis, but for the vast majority of the fans, we'd like to see more investment on the pitch than around it or over it.

Whilst I love Ange and all the positivity he has brought to Spurs, the team look they are desperate to score from anywhere due to to the high line. They know they are going to concede goals, so there is a mad incohesive, disjointed rush forward from Spurs to try and score every time which they are not capable of doing. Tactically inept at the mo, and certainly can't defend. I'm not sure what Ange's tactics are anymore.
We had good opportunities, particularly in the first half, especially from turnovers or counterattacks, goals against Arsenal's defense must come in those situations, inadvertant missed pass and before the defense can set plenty of open space and open players, otherwise they are just too solid when in formation. Somehow all the attacking players keep making crappy decisions or take too much time when moving forwards and 'let' the defense take shape, noone seems to have the vision and poise to make a good timely decision. which was baffling. Not sure if thats on them or the manager calling for a very particular build up play style.. Bad teams would eventually fold from the relentless attacking pressure, like they did vs Celtic and the barrage of shots on goal on most days but Arsenal has one of the leagues best defense, Tottenham could barely even get shots off, they looked more nervous attacking than Arsenal looked defending!

Worse team I've witnessed since Gerry Francis era. The possession is an illusion because thats how the opposition wants us. There is no substance to our attacks, just side and back passes, no defence splitting passes, no accuracy in crosses, no clever runs, no creativity, just boring possession. The raw data looks bad, the question is do we believe that Ange can learn fast enough and improve to a top 4 premiership level? the players don't inspire confidence. With the added fullbacks in attack and how many attacking players we have, we are over complicating the play because there are too many options! So when son or brennan are one on one with defenders they have a nice easy option to pass inside and then the inside receiver has a nice and easy pass next to him and all we do is play around the box and nothing penetrative because it's easier to give the open pass on the edge whilst the opposition just pack the box and allow us knock the ball and round and do nothing ! And vicario holds on top the ball for too long now!! He needs to be quicker, he allows the team to push up and man Mark whilst he's messing around trying to find a sneaky pass which normally ends up at van de vens feet under pressure !! And I am finding maddison needs to speed up the play as well! Takes too long on the ball! And my last moan is why on earth did we not buy a proper ball winning midfielder of high quality

Our football is never about control, I think control is a by product and what we do doesn't have to be that. What Ange wants is fight for the ball and then score with it. Its just simple, fast paced transition ball, we currently don't play it great and looks very control esque. If we play great, it would be a joy to watch. You just put balls in and score, win balls high and score. It's pathetic our players give fuck all at this point. But even they will fall in line if we give Ange time.
Looks like we are two players short when we are attacking the box. We are masters of passing around the back four without movement up front so no penetration. Very poor.
I think we should let Ange have the full season even if end up finishing 16th in the league. If we do that, we will get a trophy next season, but will our fans do that, absolutely not. He should be commanding his box and positioning his players where he wants them or just running thru them and clearing them up thats what top goalies do vicario is a reflex shot stopper and quite a good one but he has no box control or leadership thats why you conceded the most set peices
I agree that Son as an out and out winger or as an out and out striker doesn’t get the best out of him. Maybe Udogie can overlap to allow Son be in his best position. We are doing great in general play, just have to stop the switching off at the back and find far better solutions, belief and conviction around the box.
Maassssive over reaction by this fan base. Let Ange cook. The foundations are there. We just need that one or two attacking players to give us that sharp edge. We needed to rid of deadwood and build some depth with quality young players. Let’s see where the squad is after the next two windows when we don’t have to dilute the money over numerous players.
Regarding my earlier post... start with Vicario, Spence, Dragusin, VdV, Davies, Bissouma (if fit), Bergvall, Kulu, Son Solanke and Johnson on Wednesday. That front line needs time to work together, so keep them in. In response to the "Why Werner?" question, perhaps he's just a stop-gap until we can get the player we want (hopefully already approached) in January or next summer. Who knows?

Our problem against Gooners were we revert back as we played against Leicester.... where we used Son on the left. Son played better, his footwork were fantastic but we needed to have Sonny through the middle. We need goals in the first half.... it's just we can't settle our game down because we're forever behind and on the back foot. We must stop being nice guys on the pitch.

Playing too obvious formation is the key failure. Every team now puts double lined defense whenever playing with us. Players keep on the defense trap, there is space to create the chances rather keep passing around the ball around the box.
Poro, BJ, and Kulu had shots 4 times. Poro shots for 6 times from the previous games. Capitalized zero. Who is making the goal for us now?? Whenever put Sunny on the center, no one is able to pass to him since we are not making the spaces. To sad but Angie’s ball is not working out.

All of that said, there's no doubt in my mind that Johnson should be dropped and quite possibly Son as well. No doubt we'll see changes on Wednesday, but that front 3 should stay the same for now, not only for confidence but also as a kick up the arse. No rest until you perform the way we expect you to. Yes there are flaws, but we played reasonably well overall yesterday. Sadly, it wasn't quite good enough. We need to convert our chances, it's as simple as that. If we score on one of those point blank chances we had in the first half, it's an entirely different game. Tough to win when you aren't finishing your chances. I feel like we aren't quite in sync yet, but that it's going to come. The players need to believe. The supporters need to be patient.
Invert the forwards, keep the fullbacks wide and launch early crosses into the box, rather than crossing from the byline. That would be my solution to our low block kryptonite. Currently, we tiki-taka our way up the field, get stuffed by the low block and spend our time controlling the ball around the perimeter of the opponents defensive shape. We need to mix it up and look to play on the counter using the shape described above. However, this team lacks grit, with the exception of a couple players - Mourinho and Conte both commented on it. Like Ben stated, our knife can't cut steak and periodically playing on the counter may not be enough to sharpen it. Ange needs to kick these players in the butt, get them performing and sharpen the knife.
Re Son, you boys were going on and on at start of the season about Son being best at Wing.. Now you're saying he doesn't suit being a winger in this system! Truth is blind freddy could see that Sonny would never work in this system at wing. He is a CF in this system at least. The fans and management misread the problem when they were pushing for a striker. As FourFourTwo analysed end of last season, we desperately needed 2 tricky wingers to trouble low blocks. We bought 1 although he is 19 and another LW, and spunked most of our budget in Solanke even though we already had Richy and Sonny who last season were both ruthless in front of goal. That huge fee spent of Solanke was better spent on a tricky right winger such as Raphinha or Bakayoko.

Signings have been so poor this past summer. None of those players improve our team. I would have preferred no signings and kept some of the players we released.
In defense of Romero, he has not been shocking. Has he been at his best? absolutely not, but one poor moment per game is not shocking. Romero still played relatively well, and with proper support will only improve over the next few games.

Tottenham are currently a reflection of the type of players we buy. We shop at the same old supermarkets lol The wage structure needs to allow players in the range of 200K to 350K mark, Still no guarantees but big clubs pay the wages and keep doing it until they get it right. Spurs dont need to be successful on the pitch to be successful off the pitch and the football side is a "like to have instead of a must have attitude". We will probably finish 6th or 7th which is how i felt when the season started and we will make the Europa league final.

We have two good wingers in kulusexy and son who like to come inside and yet we never changed tactics our fullbacks never go on the outside. If son and johnson come inside and the fullbacks go outside we achieve the same shape because our fullbacks are so high anyway. The substitutions were diabolical timo for maddison. I am not ange out and i hope he can turn it around but there are so many fixable issues that are as clear as day.

That's not entirely true. Ange's system is about taking chances even if it means losing possession. And if they do lose possession, he wants them to press to get the ball back. But he wants his players to take chances even if it means potentially losing the ball. That's why all the players in the interviews say he trusts us to try again even if it means potentially losing the ball.

Whilst I love Ange and all the positivity he has brought to Spurs, the team look they are desperate to score from anywhere due to to the high line. They know they are going to concede goals, so there is a mad incohesive, disjointed rush forward from Spurs to try and score every time which they are not capable of doing. Tactically inept at the mo, and certainly can't defend. I'm not sure what Ange's tactics are anymore.

We had good opportunities, particularly in the first half, especially from turnovers or counterattacks, goals against Arsenal's defense must come in those situations, inadvertant missed pass and before the defense can set plenty of open space and open players, otherwise they are just too solid when in formation. Somehow all the attacking players keep making crappy decisions or take too much time when moving forwards and 'let' the defense take shape, noone seems to have the vision and poise to make a good timely decision. which was baffling. Not sure if thats on them or the manager calling for a very particular build up play style.. Bad teams would eventually fold from the relentless attacking pressure, like they did vs Celtic and the barrage of shots on goal on most days but Arsenal has one of the leagues best defense, Tottenham could barely even get shots off, they looked more nervous attacking than Arsenal looked defending!

Worse team I've witnessed since Gerry Francis era. The possession is an illusion because thats how the opposition wants us. There is no substance to our attacks, just side and back passes, no defence splitting passes, no accuracy in crosses, no clever runs, no creativity, just boring possession. The raw data looks bad, the question is do we believe that Ange can learn fast enough and improve to a top 4 premiership level? the players don't inspire confidence. I would rather he throw the dice and start with the kids. Johnson, Solanke, Maddison, not good enough, bottom league players. We do not have any proven elite players apart from Romero and even he looks bad in this team.

With the added fullbacks in attack and how many attacking players we have, we are over complicating the play because there are too many options! So when son or brennan are one on one with defenders they have a nice easy option to pass inside and then the inside receiver has a nice and easy pass next to him and all we do is play around the box and nothing penetrative because it's easier to give the open pass on the edge whilst the opposition just pack the box and allow us knock the ball and round and do nothing ! And vicario holds on top the ball for too long now!! He needs to be quicker, he allows the team to push up and man Mark whilst he's messing around trying to find a sneaky pass which normally ends up at van de vens feet under pressure !! And I am finding maddison needs to speed up the play as well! Takes too long on the ball! And my last moan is why on earth did we not buy a proper ball winning midfielder of high quality

Our football is never about control, I think control is a by product and what we do doesn't have to be that. What Ange wants is fight for the ball and then score with it. Its just simple, fast paced transition ball, we currently don't play it great and looks very control esque. If we play great, it would be a joy to watch. You just put balls in and score, win balls high and score.

In response to the "Why Werner?" question, perhaps he's just a stop-gap until we can get the player we want (hopefully already approached) in January or next summer. Who knows?

Our problem against Gooners were we revert back as we played against Leicester.... where we used Son on the left. Son played better, his footwork were fantastic but we needed to have Sonny through the middle. We need goals in the first half.... it's just we can't settle our game down because we're forever behind and on the back foot. We must stop being nice guys on the pitch.

Playing too obvious formation is the key failure. Every team now puts double lined defense whenever playing with us. Players keep on the defense trap, there is space to create the chances rather keep passing around the ball around the box.
Poro, BJ, and Kulu had shots 4 times. Poro shots for 6 times from the previous games. Capitalized zero. Who is making the goal for us now?? Whenever put Sunny on the center, no one is able to pass to him since we are not making the spaces. To sad but Angie’s ball is not working out.

Look, I'm as frustrated as anybody. Spurs have ruined my week once again, whatever happens at Coventry, but I'm truly sick and tired of all the online abuse, insults and misguided tactical "nous" from online podcasts and twitter posts. "Ange Out!" is a ludicrous and futile petition. There's simply nobody out there who is available anyway. Be careful what you wish for. All of that said, there's no doubt in my mind that Johnson should be dropped and quite possibly Son as well. No doubt we'll see changes on Wednesday, but that front 3 should stay the same for now, not only for confidence but also as a kick up the arse. No rest until you perform the way we expect you to. Yes there are flaws, but we played reasonably well overall yesterday. Sadly, it wasn't quite good enough. Indeed, there's an argument that the goal shouldn't have been allowed, which would be a pointless argument to get into. Lose against Coventry and it will only make things worse unfortunately.

We need to convert our chances, it's as simple as that. If we score on one of those point blank chances we had in the first half, it's an entirely different game. Tough to win when you aren't finishing your chances. I feel like we aren't quite in sync yet, but that it's going to come. The players need to believe. The supporters need to be patient.

Invert the forwards, keep the fullbacks wide and launch early crosses into the box, rather than crossing from the byline. That would be my solution to our low block kryptonite. Currently, we tiki-taka our way up the field, get stuffed by the low block and spend our time controlling the ball around the perimeter of the opponents defensive shape. We need to mix it up and look to play on the counter using the shape described above. However, this team lacks grit, with the exception of a couple players - Mourinho and Conte both commented on it. Like Ben stated, our knife can't cut steak and periodically playing on the counter may not be enough to sharpen it. Ange needs to kick these players in the butt, get them performing and sharpen the knife.

Truth is blind freddy could see that Sonny would never work in this system at wing. He is a CF in this system at least. The fans and management misread the problem when they were pushing for a striker. As FourFourTwo analysed end of last season, we desperately needed 2 tricky wingers to trouble low blocks. We bought 1 although he is 19 and another LW, and spunked most of our budget in Solanke even though we already had Richy and Sonny who last season were both ruthless in front of goal. That huge fee spent of Solanke was better spent on a tricky right winger such as Raphinha or Bakayoko.

Signings have been so poor this past summer. None of those players improve our team. I would have preferred no signings and kept some of the players we released.
In defense of Romero, he has not been shocking. Has he been at his best? absolutely not, but one poor moment per game is not shocking. Romero still played relatively well, and with proper support will only improve over the next few games.

Tottenham are currently a reflection of the type of players we buy. We shop at the same old supermarkets lol The wage structure needs to allow players in the range of 200K to 350K mark, Still no guarantees but big clubs pay the wages and keep doing it until they get it right. Spurs dont need to be successful on the pitch to be successful off the pitch and the football side is a "like to have instead of a must have attitude". We will probably finish 6th or 7th which is how i felt when the season started and we will make the Europa league final.
Our attacking quality is poor
I am not ange out, however i will remind everyone that ange only took the tottenham job when no one else wanted the job. We have two good wingers in kulusexy and son who like to come inside and yet we never changed tactics our fullbacks never go on the outside. If son and johnson come inside and the fullbacks go outside we achieve the same shape because our fullbacks are so high anyway. The substitutions were diabolical timo for maddison. I am not ange out and i hope he can turn it around but there are so many fixable issues that are as clear as day.

That's not entirely true. Ange's system is about taking chances even if it means losing possession. And if they do lose possession, he wants them to press to get the ball back. But he wants his players to take chances even if it means potentially losing the ball. That's why all the players in the interviews say he trusts us to try again even if it means potentially losing the ball.
