What stops the paint from crossing the borders? Especially at the start, when painting the background, you apply a lot of paint that magically stops right at the sharp border of the cups. UPDATE: Okay, I watched the Daisy video and I think it this happens because the non-cup areas are pre-wetted?
Hey, there! Great question. :) Yes, you are correct. Watercolor expands only into areas that are wet, not dry. Sooo, oftentimes for my backgrounds, or when I'm painting large areas, I pre-wet the area I want the color to expand into with clean water before starting to drop in or paint in my color. Leave sections where you want the white paper unpainted dry, and the color will not expand into those areas. Thanks for watching and for your question!
