  • This is a very high quality REPLICA of a Medieval clock from between the 14th & 15th century. Buco Swiss manufactured these around the 60's, 70's & into the 80's I believe. It runs very quiet, unlike some that tick rather loudly this one could easily be placed in a bedroom. It runs as soon as the weights hang without issue. I believe the company stopped manufacturing around 1988. I can say that ch-9444 is likely the street address in Switzerland and these were made between the 60's & 70's... possibly into the 80's as well. I've not seen one in such preserved condition as this one is. The counter weights on the Foliot escapement are easily adjusted for managing the speed at which it runs. Thats about all I know about it other than it is a wonderful and simple example of how basic timekeeping (mechanically that is) works. It is capable of accurate time keeping however I would categorize it more as a novelty clock.
    Dimensions: 13"H x 7"W x 5"D
    THIS IS UP FOR SALE

Hello Ed, they aren't to my knowledge, they closed their doors in the late 80'S if I recall. You're lucky to have found one new in the box although I have seen one or two sell on eBay. Perhaps people buy them and never get around to putting them up on the wall.

Is there a place where you can buy parts for these, I have one of these and the string at the top is gone and so is the hand. The top part that goes back and forwards (dont know what its called) mines broken in half and I dont have it or the blocks. Mine doesnt have the notches eaither.

These parts are very easy to duplicate, find someone handy with wood to cut it out on a scroll saw. The wood cubes are also fairly easy to replicate. The only other option is to watch eBay for a similar one and use it for parts.
