Traveled international for 40 years now. The advice about not drawing unwanted attention is the best of all. Dilution of assets that could be seen as tactical is excellent but even not wearing a black windbreaker and a wearing a huge black G Shock shock watch……respect for authority. Yes ma’am yes sir etc goes a looooong way. In Africa, Central America and Europe….at least to my experience…….if you have a tac flash with an aggressive bevel that unscrews…..unscrew it and put it in with electronic gizmos far away from the flashlight itself too…..
I own two All steel.. zebra pens.. these are my tactical pens as they don't look tactical at all so they fly into the radar.. something else you can bring with you is a heavy padlock... And a bandana.. slide the bandana through the shackle of the padlock once you're off the plane.. you can then swing the padlock like a bludgeon... A heavy wooden cane is another tactical self-defense implement.. you don't need a doctor's note you can even just say you sprained your ankle if asked about it.. I picked up a super heavy duty wooden cane at tractor supply.. it can be used to jab with or swing at a perpetrator when needed
Wow, yeah I agree. Don't stand out. Mix your rebel pen with your other stuff, and by all means use the rebel pen! My Swat pen isn't likely to work and I agree with that.
I have an atomic bear pen coming for my son (defender) it suits his likes, my ex his mom (Rebel) because its sleek business looking style suits her work position. For myself since i drive all day for a living and am exposed to dirt, grease oil etc and i interact with customers and occasionally law enforcement i got the Stealth pro for its discreet and unassuming design that fits the environment I'm in. In my area anything at all carried for the purpose of self defense is considered a prohibited weapon and a person could be charged. Thats why i love these pens, all three of us can legitimately and honestly say its meant first and far most as a writing implement and for emergency extraction if breaking a window is necessary. Although i have no desire to leave my country all your points are ones i have held since i was young when looking for a pen i liked to use, they had to be solid and feel good in the icepick grip.
I have a Universal permanent marker repacked with G10 to a sharp point. Open the cap and it looks just like a felt tip. I haven’t found a less conspicuous option. That said… it’s not a pen… it has one pokey function. (CRKT pen is pretty sleek, not too tactical looking, but the branding is a give away. Maybe that Rebel brand is less well known.)
Love your video. Thank you. I am a former ex Federal cop. You always take your chance that it can be confiscated. Either you go to an airport or a Federal builing. Pro tip - long lines, busy time is in your favor. Also, look at a TSA agent, if he /she looks so serious or dedicated - take a diff line.

You make fantastic points. But you can do maybe not the same but relatively good damage with a regular pen or just a regular flashlight. Or try a nut on a string. Before you get to the airport you separate the nut from the string. put the nut in one bag the string in the other that looks very unsuspicious. If they ask you why you have the nut in your bag you say hey I forgot it was in there. the string in the other bag I've gotten through TSA thousands of times like that. it's one of the best self defense weapons you crack somebody in the head with a nut on a string you're doing damage.
Hello Aidan, laws and rules change often and from city to city. I would check the local laws on where you plan to carry it. Always better to be safe than sorry. -Hg
If the glass breaker is removable, this is why you should remove it and pack it in a different bag or in a pocket of the same bag away from the flashlight.
Hello VIXER, it depends on the location where you travel. Some locations scrutinize more than others so it is tough to say. I haven't had any issues with tac-pens but others have from what I have been told. -Hg
@@NTCReviews SO THERE'S NO ONE RULE THAT APPLIES TO ALL. IT DEPENDS ON WHERE YOU'RE GOING. SO BEST WAY IS TO BRING A EXTRA NORMAL STEEL PEN JUST IN CASE THE TACTICAL PEN GETS CONFISCATED.
@NTCReviews unfortunately, the TSA may very well do that. Unlikely. My remark is that by having paracord attached, it just brings unwanted attention to it.
@@danaboatman954 tsa is not going to take your parachord. They might question you if you bring a ridiculous amount, but a few inches isnt gonna cause any questions
@NTC Reviews i have a tactical pen since 2018 but I seldom EDC it even locally since I have a boot knife+1 small fixed blade/neck knife and I have never traveled overseas with it. Though rarely travel overseas/once-twice every 3 years for long stay1-18 months i prefer to reach my destination and seek out a sporting goods store buy a new knife/utility/self defense purpose and if on return its on my check in luggage then it's mine to keep otherwise I'll just give it away/friend...or becomes part of my souvenirs.

Been carrying mine for over 5 years in my backpack for many flights. Was confiscated last week by TSA. No explanation
Sorry to hear that, Bob. I am actually heading to Europe next week, we shall see.
Sounds like someone wanted to add your pen to their collection.

Good Stuff, Andrew! 🤣 🍻

Pro Tip: Carry a small note book, and actually write in it.
Good Stuff, dmp762. 👍

Better yet, clip the tactical pen to a small notebook or moleskine. Heightens the impression for TSA that it is a writing implement.

Airport security confiscates all tactical pens! I lose mine as well when gone to Israel.
It's not worth the risk for a branded tactical pen!
I’m planning to buy a tactical pen so I want to ask if it is legal to have it in the UK?

@@NTCReviews I’ll check the law then thank you

nothing is legal in the UK,
Traveled to Japan. Made it there fine. On return trip, was confiscated at customs in Canada. Just letting everyone know.
Thanks for the heads up.
Did they give you a reason as to why they were confiscating it?
@@NTCReviews No, just stated I could not take it with me. They saw it on X-ray and pulled me for secondary search. It was in my carry on.
Glad that you got to keep it.
I travel quite often and so far, so good.
Hopefully, my lucky streak will continue.
Had a flashlight with a glass breaker . They took the glass breaker part
That really sucks.

Short answer no. Otherwise known as how I lost my James Williams crkt pen.
I carry a pen and flashlight attached to parachord
Excellent; thanks for sharing!

I get concerned that anything with paracord will be confiscated
Why though? If the confiscate your paracord, they would also have to confiscate your boot and shoe laces.

@@danaboatman954 tsa is not going to take your parachord. They might question you if you bring a ridiculous amount, but a few inches isnt gonna cause any questions
You forgot about having spare refill for it just in case it wouldn't function when you need to write...
