Is a smartphone with a data plan required to install and or Use the NEST model E smart thermostat? Thanks
Hi there- our question is will the nest work on a heater-only system? We have an evaporative cooler that is separate so we want the nest to JUST operate the heater.
Is the Nest thermostat compatible with the Elan Home Automation Systems?
I have a Carrier infinity system. The wires are labeled A,B,C,D, and E. Google says this is a proprietary system and its incompatible. Is there a way to get it to work?
Ok ..are you covering the nest thermostat and the nest learning thermostat in this video as you refer to both ? Also no one is touching on 2nd stage heat wire and where to hook it up ? As the Google compatibility indicates that 2 stage heat will work with the nest thermostat.
Thanks for breaking down the wires for me. Keep on keepin' on!
You bet!
I have a Trane rooftop unit with 2 stages of cooling, that the new Nest 3rd Gen will not function with.
With C not terminated the Nest goes into a time delay and when that expires it gives e73 error.
With C terminated the Nest seems to be working, though it isn’t passing the 27v through the stat back to my unit and will not energize my unit for cooling.
I have tried everything with C both off and on & cannot get it to function properly and energize the unit.
Any help would be appreciated.
Clear and concise description.
My old thermostat has a “B” and a separate “O” terminal , a blue wire was in the B and a white in the O. The nest only has a “B/O” option. What should I do?
If I have a jumper wire do I remove it ? I have supplemental gas heat & electric heat pump. Will this work with my system. We normally turn on the supplemental gas at 33-34 degrees F. My wife doesn’t like to hear heat pump run.
i put everything like i suppose to and answered all questions and it says its not compatible
Sounds good. So I just power off the thermostat I have from the 80s and yank it off the wall to check the wiring out? I’m really hoping since it appears to be original or very old at least, that this existing thermostat can be upgraded simply.
Hello i have a ptac LG air conditioner that has a option to add a thermostat. If the "plug in" for the optional thermostat has wires C R Y W O GH GL will i be able to hook up a google nest? Thank you
I have an X wire on my thermostat will I be able to use a nest thermostat
I have a Daikin DM96VC furnace. I don't have a 'C' wire but intend to install one. Will the Google Nest Learning thermostat be compatible with this furnace?
Hi, My Ol d Home thermostat have blue wire which is not connected anywhere in Furnace issue is now I have to recharge Nest thermostat manually I have to take it off the wall charge it and put it back on wall, what I want is it should be able to charge automatically by it self how do I modify wiring in Furness
Are you saying that your blue wire isn't connected at the furnace? Was the blue wire connected at either point, furnace or old thermostat? Or, is the blue wire completely missing from your setup?
I only I have a red and white wire will it still work for my house
Yes, the Nest Thermostat 3rd Gen will work with a 2-wire setup. White wire would go to W1 and red to RH, BUT, make sure that your current thermostat is wired in this fashion. It's always a good idea to take a picture of the current wiring when you remove the faceplate before unwiring the old one. Is that the Nest model that you have?
My HVAC system works in 4 zones of my house. My thermostat has 8 wires, will a Nest work? I wasn't able to determine this on the Google site
Your best bet is to get a local HVAC person out to your house and evaluate your setup, wiring, etc..
Thank you for the info, very informative...
How do you know if you have single fuel or dual fuel? I have an outside AC unit as well as an air handler inside my garage. It's electric
What is i have more than one thermostat multiple floors ?
can you install the Nest Learning Thermostat with only 2 wires
What color are you're two existing wires?
@@SmartHomeMojo they are old wires so color not clear, 1 is attached to W and the other to RH and there is also a bridge between RH an RC
@@SmartHomeMojo I've got red and white... will it work?
Does the Nest thermostat work with a geothermal system? I can't seem to find the answer anywhere.
After doing a bit of research, yes, the Nest Learning Thermostat (3rd Gen) is compatible with geothermal HVAC systems. The Nest (3rd Gen) works with about 95% of HVAC systems today. I don't know much about geothermal systems, but it did go on to question the need for a smart thermostat if using a geothermal HVAC system.
You are the man great vidoe
I appreciate that! Thanks Walter?
