    Very good tutorial. I was intimidated by the FX particle generator but your tutorial made it straightforward to execute. Thank-you. GCG

    I updated the blog page with instructions for how to hold the cache read on a single frame. Just disconnect currentTime and set it to whatever cached frame you want to read.

      Hi there, what version of Maya are you using? For some reason, when I create a Bifrost Aero out of the shape, it doesn't have any detail, it just renders out as a gray dull blob...Have you encountered this problem as well?

  • @jdamagedgoods
    @jdamagedgoods 6 років тому

    If your aero doesn't apply correctly once you assign it, try making a copy of the cloud geo, delete the old geo and assign the aero to the cloud duplicate. This worked for me.

    great tutorial, but in the beginning how did you get the two spheres to move together like that? is the large sphere parent to the small sphere? I'm not quite sure how you got all those little spheres to go around the vertices

    This cant be rendable on Arnold render? When I do the render it just creats a "black square" ... anyway to render it on arnold that actualy shows the real cloud?

    how did you get the ball container? mine is a square by default

    This was the ugliest hack (boolean) I've ever seen to produce such a beautiful result. What a fluffy, happy little cloud! Well done.

    If your sphere isn't flooding, make sure to change the name of your second sphere (the inner one) to "ball" and it should flood.

    Possible workflow:
    Maya Fluid Cloud Preset > convert fluid to geometry > geometryPaint (use a variety of shapes) > bitfrost Aero

    Very good tutorial!!! But how can I get a frozen sim from frame 1 to end? I know the alembic cache workflow but for the areo solver this dont help :(!

    This looks amazing. I tried it out at my home computer (which is older) and it was far too slow. I would like to try it out here at work on our much more powerful workstations, but we are on 2015 at the moment. Is there a method of single frame cache without using alembic? I tried disabling the sim but then it disappears? We have numerous projects with extensive cloud fly throughs and this could be invaluable if we could get it working in VP 2.0, but light way to get realtime playback with say 100 or more clouds?? Or maybe 20 or so hero clouds and cards or maya fluids for the bgs???

    with your container now in read mode, disconnect the currentTime attribute on the container itself (by default it gets its connection from outTime1.time)
    This is driving me crazy! where do find this?!?!

    Hi can you export.this cloud to game engine like unreal engine 4??

  • @qaisbachir206
    @qaisbachir206 6 років тому

    If you could show your outliner in future instruction, that could help in solving most questions if certain objects are effecting each other which i am not too familiar with Bitfrost.

      As soon as i try to flood the cloud, my whole Maya scene closes out. it doesn't say it crashed or anything it just closes out and i am back in my Desktop? i am confused on why that could happen. tried it twice exactly the same result.

    My Poly Move Face History -> random is by default on 1.00. Nothing happens when I change the value. How can I fix this?

    • @jonmaster2143
      @jonmaster2143 6 років тому

      what version of maya are you using? if using 17 and above, select sphere => Edit Mesh => Transform Component => click square box => set to 1.0 on random => Apply => Transform Vertex. Then use X,Y, Z arrow to tune the faces.
      Typical of some video broadcasters to skip essential steps/parts of tutorial......

    • @AlyFuzzo
      @AlyFuzzo 6 років тому

      after you set random to 1 you need to move the components that you selected.
