You have to respect a company like Traxxas. I know there's allot of people saying it's still the same platform, blah blah blah. Think about the support their platforms receive. It's not because they're the best, it's because aftermarket companies know this platform won't be discontinued two years from now. Even if they do make changes or improvements, it's most likely going to fit legacy models. I've got an OG T-MAXX that has been updated many times over the years. With every new release and new and improved part. Guess what, they all retrofit perfectly in that old truck. Same with my old Stampede from the early to mid 90's. Not one part has been difficult to get and it's a Nitro version. Yeah it's the same old chassis, but you'll be able to improve it and tweak it more than any other model out there for many years to come. Traxxas vehicles are more of an investment. The rest are just disposable once the parts supply dries up.

Just another TRX4. That chassis is getting a little long in the tooth. If it was a TRX4 II, I might be impressed.

For comparison, Axial released the SCX10 in ‘08 and the SCX10 II in 2017. The SCX10 III released in 2020, which was a much shorter timeframe, but that was also after Horizon acquired Axial in 2018, and I think they’re a little more aggressive with releases. I think they may have also wanted to push out a new platform sooner precisely because of the change in ownership. I think they were also probably surprised by how strong of a competitor the TRX4 proved to be with its release in 2017.
Comparatively, though, it hasn’t been out THAT long, even if it may seem like it. Traxxas definitely isn’t the type of company to push out new versions of a truck just because. I suspect we may see more incremental differences (like the lift kit on this model) between TRX-4 releases until eventually a revamp sometime down the road - I wouldn’t expect it to be too soon, though. The Stampede, for example, is largely the same truck it was 20 years ago. When you don’t already have a track-record of constantly revamping mainline platforms, it can be a big risk, so I would absolutely expect years of development before a 2.0.

Had to remove some of the noise from the furnace kicking on halfway through. It’s better than it was. Good audio equipment is definitely the next thing we invest in.
