Lekker vid my bru. :) I'm from the Bluff. Currently in Cape Town though. My granadilla is doing amazing except it doesn't produce much fruit. We are getting hit hard by these invasive German wasps and they are scaring off all the pollinators, not sure if this is why they don't produce? What do you think? (The flowers yellow and fall off but the plant itself is ridiculously healthy)
Hey Dylan Yeah the wasp, if not stopped will have potentially devastating effects on insect populations, bees and other such pollinators included. Granadillas should not have any issues with pollination and fruit production, so this may already be a sign but can also attest to the reality of decline in insect populations in general. You could pollinate them by hand if you really wanted to... ha ha ha...
Hey there I have a plant that I bought from Woolworths it says to only plant into the ground at the end of Winter should I pot it up in the mean time and keep it indoors? Cape Town doesn't freeze or anything so not sure if you could help I'd appreciate it 🙏🦋
Hey Natasha I would not repot it just yet, I'd give it as much sunlight as possible until at most, June or when winter really begins its grip then put it in a protected spot(from cold and wind) and then plant it out in full sun in late August or if you can wait September.
Hi Jennifer, I regularly cut it back (say once per year) round the last quarter of winter. Place a layer of wood chips over its feet and I then give it some liquid kelp based fertiliser twice in the growing season. Once in spring and once at the start of summer. Happy Gardening!
Hey Cliff, thanks for the question. You would need to move pollen from the male anthers and place them on the stigmas of the flowers. You may need to do this multiple times per flower starting in the morning when the flowers open.
Oh no, I'm sorry to hear that. That'd be a first for me, I'm not so sure that it was because you planted the carrots? Can you think of anything else you may have noticed? That is very curious, no?
The common name hardly ever refers to the particular species or cultivar w.r.t. a plant. In this case this fruit is huge in my country, as granadillas go. Apologies about the confusion and thanks for your comment.
Ive learnt so much from these videos

Thanks for that, love learning the correct pronunciation of anything. So I don't sound like the bleb I am sometimes...LOL!

My granadilla just died in the middle of summer. Im thinking its because i planted carrots at the base.

This isn't the giant Granadilla. They are just normal one. Giant ones are about 2kg weight.
