True that everyone is different. I prefer to not use the clutch unless I am creeping along and I want to slip into a gear at idle speed. One thing to stop the clunk In split shifts is to move the gear lever into neutral and back into gear. I also find splitting the downshift makes it easier to downshift on the Jake's or a small downhill.
Thats how i change from a standing position going up hill,split the gear push into neutral and back in,only in bottom box though because the shifts are so short,otherwise the revs drop faster then you can get into the next gear like if you were on flat ground.. i also found,unless im going uphill,if i need to split shift going down gears to do the same,pre-select,push the stick in neutral and back again after ive gently lifted the revs,sometimes if you time it spot on you barely even have to rev up..

Hi John. Most are going to auto. the small companies still have sticks, old school. Some driver say it auto's make them tired on the highway, nothing to do. I don't find that, I'm tired all the time. lol

HQ Monaro. Was going to buy one when I was younger, red with a 308, did not have the $1200, would not get one for $12,000 now. LOL. Did have a basic HQ sedan with a 173.Brown with red vinyl interior, bench seat, 3 on the tree.Did good burnouts with the crap tyres.

Hi Michael. Just 10 hrs trips each way now, with a break in between. Run in the east from Melbourne to Sydney return. Easy job and boring most of the time. Have an auto now, so just in D most of the time. Lol.😆. Have a great day.
What sort of $$$ is your K200 worth Rod? Do you use the sleeper much? How comfortable is it in the height of summer? Would you leave the truck on idle overnight to power A/C and systems etc. in the cab if you're overnighting in it? It's a fantastic piece of machinery Enjoying your vids
RoadGoose: Hi. I would only be guessing the big cab k200 would be around $400/450 thousand. Sleep 5 nights every two weeks. It has a separate diesel motor to run the refrigerated cooling, runs off the fuel tanks. Is quite noisy, try to park away from other trucks.
If I remember rightly no matter how much a company pays an owner driver for their services depending on truck type, the payment is worth roughly around $30 per hour after truck expenses on average. So the more economical your truck is and depending on how you drive it, the more money you will earn. The way I see it, the only benefit to being an owner driver is the tax break you get?? Correct me if I'm wrong....
MTF Sweeping. Have driven the older auto Kenworths when they had a clutch. I liked them, but was better to change manually when starting off, just push the button to change.
Ivan Milja. Have thought about it when I had surgery about 6 years ogo. Be an instructor instead of full time drive. Not much money in it at the time. Maybe a job before retirement. Have a great day.

one thing I have found, floating gears in a ford transit van is actually quite easy once you know the rev bands.
