Great Wolf Lodge - Colorado Springs, Colorado

Kim's parents blessed us by giving us a 1 night stay at the newly-opened Great Wolf Lodge in Colorado Springs, Colorado. The resort is only 10 miles from our house. We had watched the construction over the past year and were BEYOND excited to stay for the first time.
We loved it! The water park was excellent, the pizza restaurant (Hungry as a Wolf) served delicious New York-style pizza, the arcade was a blast, and the room was great. My only real complaint was that the pillows were very uncomfortable....way too large. Hey, I had to find one thing to complain about, right?
We stayed Thursday into Friday. We checked in at noon, got our wristbands, and had a great time walking around the facility. We got a text saying that our room was ready about 2:30 pm.
Other than the pizza shop, we only purchased food at Dunkin Donuts. The donuts and coffee were delicious.
I realize many of the complaints online are regarding long lines and wait times. WE DID NOT EXPERIENCE THIS. Since we arrived on a Thursday, while most children were in school, there were not long lines. We literally waited in line for the front desk for less than 3 minutes. The ride lines were very quick. Most of the time, we didn't have to wait. We were the first in most lines. When we did have to wait, we never waited longer than 5 minutes.
I asked the front desk clerk how filled the resort was. She said it was probably 40 or 45% booked the night we stayed. She said there were probably 400-450 guests staying. She also said there were 100% booked the following night (the day we checked out) and that full capacity was around 1,400 people. The long lines were building as we were leaving.
Here's the way I look at it, if you go to an amusement park on the 4th of July, you're going to wait in long lines. If you go to any outdoor water park on any weekend throughout the summer, you're going to wait in a long line. If you fly during the Thanksgiving or Christmas holidays, you're going to wait in a long line. Don't be surprised if you wait in a long line depending on when you stay! I suggest trying to go in the middle of the week and not on a major holiday!
In the end, we had an absolutely wonderful time at Great Wolf Lodge. The good times far outweighed the few bad things such as an uncomfPlease buy something from my store to show your support!
