Hey y’all, sorry I’ve been slacking on responding to comments. I see quite a few reoccurring comments so I’d like to state a few answers here:
How to get an apprenticeship - everyone is different / every shop is different! Start with making a strong portfolio, include pieces you think an owner of a tattoo studio would be impressed by. Don’t immediately ask for one, find a shop that has great artists, get tattooed by them / draw with them. Apply for a job at the front desk if they’re hiring.
Did you go straight to tattooing during the apprenticeship - NO, my mentor had me drawing, tracing, watching him tattoo and learning how a machine works way before I was allowed to even hold one. An apprenticeship is hard work, don’t expect to jump right into tattooing. It’s important to master the basics first.
Type of fake skin - there’s not a brand name I use but you can order fake skin off of amazon, I do recommend ordering thicker ones then thinner.
Gloves - yes I know, wear gloves when you set up. I do for my clients but this fake skin didn’t seem to mind haha. (But it is super important to get in the habit of it, so don’t make the mistake I made in this video)
What kind of machine made the stencil - well it’s a stencil machine, my bosses got it so unfortunately I don’t know too much about it!
What tattoo machine do you use - it’s a rotary Cheyenne hawk thunder.
Thank you to everyone who gave such nice feedback on this video! I appreciate all the likes and views. I truly did not expect this video to spark so much interest!
More videos are coming very soon! Thank you for all the support :)
But again...how do you keep it clean when working with it ?
I use Vaseline while tattooing fake skin, it helps get the ink off while tattooing it. There’s no real trick, even the Vaseline doesn’t completely clean the whole surface
Have you used the Cheyenne Hawk pen yet? If so what are your thoughts on it? I'm not an artist however I was given one as a graduation present from an older cousin of mine who was intrigued by my lettering because im guilty of being a scratcher and using a homemade machine on a few family members he was gonna take me in as an apprentice but sadly he passed away I still have my Hawk pen I use it for practicing and I love it so much but I'm hoping to finish up my portfolio and get an apprenticeship somewhere around the tattoo shops in my town
Those lines are clean you should be a master to an apprentice
I have not used that! I do love my Cheyenne thunder though and I’ve never used a product from them that I haven’t liked!
This song is the exact noises i make when getting a tattoo
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Lmao it was a perfect fit then
O O O O O O A A A A O W O W O W O W
Lol😳😅
😂😂😂
Love this video! Interesting to see the way an apprentice practices.
Some mighty clean line work✨ I hope to get as good as you soon gurl
Sis your lines are amazing!!!
Hell yes girl!! Keep up the amazing work!
This is so cool... I wish I could get apprentice somewhere.. so far I am just designing tattoos and training to get better 😍😍 good luck with your work
What thermal printer brand are you using?
Amaizing! What kind of fake skin is that?
How does one go about getting an apprenticeship?
Hey yea if your in ner jersey and need a canvas il donate some real estate. Im bout to star myself. Those lines do look pretty damn good.
How do you prep your fake skin? Is there a specific solution or just soap, water and pat dry with towel?
Ik nothing about tattoos ur good
amazing lines, they both look ace! :) .. also is that a Cheyenne hawk thunder i see?!
So nice!! Can I know how you clean the fake skin after tattoo? When I practice always make the fake skin dirty with surplus ink then can't see clearly to my artwork :(
That's 🔥
Love it! What size of needle did you use?
Great job beautiful girl 🌹 you're going to be a great tattoo artist.💪🏻❤️
What size needles are you using in this video?
What tattoo machine do you use?
What machine was you using to feed the tattoo stencil through?
I use a hair dryer to dry my stencil hahahaha works like a charm
What kind of skin do you use ?
this fake skin need so long times to waiting to dry,i used to useing the hair dryer
What did you use to get the excess ink off??
I want to help my friend to start tattooing, what are the best toola for a beginer to purchase
A easy and simple set up for tattooing for beginners would be to purchase a coil machine and a variety of sized needles. Also you can order cheap machines and kits on line, also I’d make the purchase of fake skin to practice on and recommend not to practice on yourself or a friend/ family member.
I need that printer or what ever it is
Not bad keep it up
What kind of transfer paper is that??
What stencil machine name ??
Zsot Carlos did you find out what stencil machine that was?
What size cartridges?
Would have failed at any tattoo shop I know for preparing everything without gloves
I’ve said in a previous comment, I set up with gloves for all my clients.
Doesn’t matter... I know tattoo shops that will let go anyone even when tested
Cleaner lines than some so called “professional” practicing artists lol.
Agree.. and sadly some of those lines are on me..
There is no comparison between tattooing fake skin on flat surface and real person
Right!
@@sophieamaliepetersen7563 me too lol
@@kattodoggo3868 this!! When you actually do it yourself you understand how difficult it actually is lol
Video: this is how you dry the stencil *waves around violently*
Me, who just placed a stencil on someone's arm: okay, whatever ya say
Lmao make em do the helicopter
single pass lines don't get much cleaner than that dingus :p LOL ... keep it up you're already better than allot of shop artists ...
Thank you, I really appreciate that!
@@jodiobrien835 for sure 😁 ... I'm just a scratchedy scratcher LOL... but I know some clean ass lines when I see em 😋
No where as clean as you want them to be? Those were some of the cleanest lines I've seen! They would've looked good with some power lining on the outside
Thank you! Everyone is their own worst critique haha
Jodi O'Brien what’s that stencil machine ?
I agree! if I were you I would tatoo myself
Logan Light that’s exactly what I was gonna comment! Better than I’ve gotten in some shops!
Those are really clean lines girl what are you talking about??
You should wear gloves when you set up! Just a tip.
Thank you, I do when I set up for clients :)
You are really good a tattooing do a video when you copy that design on a real person please I would love to see that .
Gloves are not sterile anyways, I just use 99% alcohol when I setup ofcorse after washing my hands
No need to set up with gloves, hands washed and desinfected are waaaay cleaner than regular gloves so :)
Amanda Lai that’s what I was thinking.
You can always practice on me if you’re ever in Houston. I fw your style, lines, and dedication. Keep up the hard work!
First time seeing that machine for the stencil
gengar_ate_me Do you know what machine she used?
Mark Isaacs a printer
Im Smoky lol I think he meant what brand
@@Hector-xf4of Wow really? that's look like a calculator
gengar_ate_me it looks like a thermal laminator but I have no idea. def not a regular printer lol
First mistake, no gloves on set ups. That right there is a big slip up. Cant forget the gloves girl.
Yeah the tattooed latex will be infected or something.....
@@gertigurra5626 Not at all, it's about developing good habits.
@@gertigurra5626 No, but ofc she use same things to tattoo peoples too.
Oh shit your right the latex will catch something......
@@dieselboyu96 it's common sense to put gloves on when doing an actual tattoo on real skin? Who's not going to put gloves on?
Tell more about this "printer". Model and brand maybe?
Is fake skin reusable? Can you clean the ink out of it and reuse it or is it a one time deal kind of thing?
It's not reusable and you can't get it out
ya id like the same answer, how do you keep the skin clean when wiping away ink ive never had mine look that clean
Sean Killough wondering the same thing
Vaseline! You’ll need quite a bit but it definitely helps keep it clean
Could you please be so kind to share with us the type/name of your thermal printer? Thanks in advance! Much love from Italy
Good lines. my practice was my arm i watched a few videos on setup. did stencils and went straight to my arm. but i have been playing with cuthroats for years so i have a steady hand. I stopped about 8 years ago just about to fix a super messed tribal next week into a curved line piece cant wait.
Them lines are completely fine, I too am apprenticing at the moment for the local shop and I'm loving it, I have a full-time job working nights at a warehouse and 5 hour's a day at the shop and I wouldn't trade my life for anything at the moment....love your skin drying technic I lost it laughing my ass of and rewound it a few times laughing as if it was the first time I watched it haha... you're great.
Wear gloves when setting up. Add green soap to distilled water. 2nd water with witch hazle. Lose the nails❤
Um if your practicing on fake skin you dont have to be so protective your not gonna get or give a disease tattooing on Silicone or Rubber unless you reuse needle which I know you wouldnt. It is good to be in practice of being safe so its like breathing air when it come to the real deal. Anyone that tells you different is just forcing their personal opinion in to how you do things yes your an apprentice and your learning but no two two artists tattoo the same you will have your own process and style
i love this video so much. its so cool to see the process as someone who is thinking about looking into becoming a tattoo artist. thanks so much for filming this.
I do drawings, and I wanna be a tattoo artist but I'm a newbie to tattooing. This video helped me! Thanks!
You’re already so good! When you become a professional you’ll be insane at tattoos! Keep working hard 💖
I’ve recently decided I wanted to become a tattoo artist during my level 2 BTEC at College because I personally think it would be absolutely awesome doing the art I love on actual PEOPLE!
What do you do with artificial skin so that it stays clean, after coaching, I have everything in color paint?))
Hey girl ! What brand tattoo gun are you using ?
Found this video as I am trying to get once more into the tattoo business after working on my confidence as an artist and this fake skin is a godsend! Will do more research on this and the tattoo guns to see which ones are perfect for me as as well as looking for an apprenticeship given whenever I think of working in this industry I dont get the dread of having to work, I do realize it is work but I feel this is the right industry for me as I have delved in a few other work environments such as veterinary and such.
Hey! How is it going with tattoos?
Those lines are cleaner than 90% of the artist in my city
I've been practising on a fake skin myself and I was wondering how you get the ink to not smudge or run? Do you treat the fake skin or is it just my technique? Thanks
Use Vaseline or buy hustle butter to put on the skin while tattooing
You also might be loading too much ink and you might also be running your machine too fast hope this helps
Don't be to hard on yourself girl! those are some fine lines! Love those classic roses
Satisfying sound when you peel the stencil.
I like how you dried that stencil up😂😂😂💓💓
How long have you been apprenticing for? Those a very clean lines
Hey thank you I appreciate it! I’ve been apprenticing for a little over a year now
Hey thank you I appreciate it! I’ve been apprenticing for a little over a year now
You’re very welcome ☺️
Those line are looking pretty crisp to me keep up the great (hard) work
Thank you, much appreciated!
What Kind of printer do you use for stencils? 😊😊
Apprenticeship in 93 so I learned old school but very nice line work and yes I know you’ve been hearing it ever where yes put on gloves for set up only down fall but other then that keep it up you will achieve your goals just work hard
Cant wait to see what see cam do with real skin.
Those lines actually are pretty clean. Give yourself some credit. You’ve earned it.
You absolutely wrong. your line work is so crisp you just need perfection to finish the peace.
Can you do a video on your equipment? Want to know what’s quality and what’s not.
RESPECT-practice makes progress
Honestly everything is great just found you, only thing I dislike is how far away everything is from you. It's just rather have everything super close by just don't like moving around to much.
I'm just starting to tattoo, not even on an apprentice level... I'd pray for lines like what's on your practice skin 😂
The horrendous "music" makes the video impossible to watch
Shebnem Dignity watch it with the volume down then 😂😂
I would have appreciated a little more explanation of what you're doing and why. Even if it was just pop up words or something.
Should really be wearing gloves when setting up your station especiallt when bagging power supply and machines.
Lines crisp as fuck.reel skin practice skin is amazing stuff.if that's Ur linework as an apprentice Ur going to be a fucking awesome tattooer
There should be note female ink slingers. A lot do guys would rather a female to their work
Buen trabajo chica
It’s great to see people actually teaching their apprentices i tried at multiple shops to get an apprenticeship and one said they couldn’t take one on at the moment which I get the owner is a family friend another just told me they would call me when they start and never did but started posting on instagram then the owner tried to figure out who made a smoke shop their nfc business cards so he could get some made (it was me) then the third shop I ended up leaving because no one was really teaching me anything because the only artist in there who was doing tattoos was afraid if he taught me he would get fired because of some stuff he does which I won’t get into so yeah I’m learning on my own have all my own supplies and have clients already who I am having wait until I get more practice in
you can do all preparation before shooting video,,, not 60% video is this -_-
Im really late to this and you may have gotten 100x better. But those were clean !!
I thought your lines were great we have apprentice at our shop she been tattooing for two years and your practice skin way better. I’m front desk watching now to see if it’s what I want to do
So glad I found this channel . So real. Love it
why did you cover the equipment with plastics is the purpose of that for splash of ink or?
Them lines juicy asf 😩🙌🏽 I can only hope to fully master
Hi! I would love to know the type of machine you are using for the stencil. THNKS!
what kind of board do you have under the fake skin? I don't want to damage my needles 😬
Your lines are still really solid I’m learning alot from you... respect
I appreciate it man!
Hello, thank you for sharing your experience. How long have you practiced on a fake skin before tattooing a real one?
Hey! I practiced on fake skin somewhere between 8-10 months
What? Estas preparando tu campo de trabajo sin guantes ?? Cortarte las uñas ?
How u clean it meanwhile ur still working? I rub vaseline on it, but it smears
hi new sub here...what motor r u using? im planing to do apprentice soon...
Great video..
Plz how to make tattoo for pigmentation to make the same skin color tatto..
Is the machine really hard to hold? Just imagining all that power coursing through the machine coupled with the constant motion of the needles coming in and out must be hard to have clean lines (props to you for having them though!)
Great question! At first it was difficult for me because when I draw I hold my pencil very close to the tip, which I can’t do with a machine or I’d be holding the needle. Once I figured out a comfortable spot for my hand it was a lot easier
@@jodiobrien835 Ahhh I see, thanks for your reply!
Dope. What's that machine you used to transfer the design?
issa thermofax
No lie. Those lines are way nicer that the lines on my tattoo that an apprentice who was had like 6 months left did.
Yoo where can I book a appointment with you I got
Some skills
Keep doing your thing girl 👍🏽👍🏽
Nice
And that client sat pretty still
Best client I’ve had!
What do you use to in the stencilling process? Transfer paper or?
