Thank you so much, I could not have changed the battery without your help. It was so clear and so absolutely helpful. We had an old 4 runner, 1998, and it did have a key fob, but it was much easier. There was a very small screw, and when you removed the screw, it came apart, the battery was sitting right inside, so it was easy to remove and change, and put it back with the little screw. I always wonder why they have to make it more complicated, not less or so it seems. There may be another explanation, but in my mind, it seems they just make things less simple. KISS is always the best if possible, but you have made this one much more simple in spite of what Toyota did to create the fob. Always Keep It Simple Stupid is good!
Got my dads old 2014 4Runner and the batter died 6 months back and didn’t wanna bother taking it to the dealership cause ik I would be overcharged and originally got discouraged seeing the housing thinking I’m not getting into that. But you just saved this 20 yr old probably a good 70 bucks so thank you sir🫡
I couldn't figure out why my fob had a four-sided black battery instead of the CR2016 round battery...because the actual battery is inside the four-sided black case which I mistook for the battery. Thanks for clarifying and saving me a trip to the dealer.
I've followed all the same steps you've lined out and for some reason the new battery won't just "click" back into place. It is the correct battery, I cannot see anything visibly out of place. When I try to snap the whole component back together the alarm starts going off on my vehicle and I have to pull the whole key apart again. Any help would be great!!
Does your battery have a bitterant coating so kids won’t swallow? I checked on reddit after my kid-repellant battery was a dud and one of the reasons why it might not work is because of that coating.
Inside my 2017 key fob it was all clear no black and way harder to open. I kind of damaged the plastic and my hand. The battery inside is CR 2025 not CR 2016. Wonder why mine was different.
CR2016 Coin Battery 🪙 you need: amzn.to/3GgXWgZ
Wtf. He put the wrong link and I didn't realize until it arrived. Come on!
Wrong battery link!!!
The replacement is very intuitive to some, but your guide made me feel less confident of breaking something in the process 😅 thank you sir!
Thanks. This video was clutch. I have a 2019 Toyota 4Runner and thought the dealership was gonna get me. Appreciate you.
