Ron DeSantis signed an anti-immigration bill that he spearheaded in FL this Spring, and migrant workers fled the state. Migrant truck drivers wouldn't even take routes thru FL. Spring is a prime time for construction in FL, but after the anti-migrant bill passed, migrant workers left their jobs, and construction sites were empty, no work was being done. Where were the MAGAs who supposedly lost jobs to migrants? No where. White MAGAs did not flood FL looking for work. FL famers were also losing workers during planting season, in the Autumn, farms need even more workers for the harvest, but FL farmers realized they weren't getting those workers, so they planted less. FL is one of the largest growers of produce in the US, planting less, means less produce for grocery stores, for canners, for frozen dinners etc. Republicans blame Dems for high food prices, yet it was Donald Trump's tariffs that kicked off inflation, and it's DeSantis' anti-immigration law that will make produce scarcer which will further drive up food prices.

I don’t remember who said it, but the problem for Republicans is that they don’t have an equivalent of Nancy Pelosi. I’m not sure that’s the wrong take if your focus is winning. I also wish that we had a focused Conservative Party in this country. The GOP is a ghost of its former self. I'm a Swiss following the 2024 election and I have problems to understand something: Is it really possible - or even: is it in accordance with the U.S. laws - to lie to such an extent on facts which are publicly available and verifiable as Trump does? Isn't it of vital importance for democracy not to mislead the voters? Since I know for sure that American citizens are committed, honest and truth loving folks, I would imagine that a lot of people in the U.S. must have a similar feeling as I have. People are not only registering to vote. Many of us are checking a couple time a month to make sure we haven't been removed from the voter rolls. Paxton in TX is specifically going after those registered as Democrat. There should be a law that states cannot remove registered voters any closer than 6 months before any election!
