Being baptized does not remove your stains or sins and is not the gospel by which we are saved. Only by believing on the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus Christ can your sins be forgiven and by which you are saved according to apostle Paul’s gospel (1 Corinthians 15:1-4). Acts 2:38 was written to the Jews at that time (Acts 1:22, 29, 36), not to the gentiles. The book of Acts transitions to the gentiles and there are other verses that clearly shows salvation comes by believing first to recieve the Holy Spirit and then getting baptized after receiving the Holy Spirit (Acts 8:36-38, 10:43-48, 15:6-11, 16:30-31). Apostle Paul was sent to the gentiles and says we are to imitate him as he imitate’s Christ (1 Cor. 11:1) and held the gospel above baptism (1 Cor. 1:14-17). For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast. - Ephesians 2:8-9 Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to His mercy He saved us, through the washing of regeneration and renewing of the Holy Spirit. - Titus 3:5 Now to him who works, the wages are not counted as grace but as debt. But to him who does not work but believes on Him who justifies the ungodly, his faith is accounted for righteousness - Romans 4:4-5 If anyone preach any other gospel to you other than what apostle Paul preached to you, let him be accursed. - Galatians 1:6-9 I pray God give you understunderstanding. God bless!
