Did this with a rose of mine tht was covered with Black spot and it was like a skeleton and I wasnt sure it would survive Now 2 months later it is covered with fresh beautiful leaves and many lovely flowers Thankyou Simple and clear treatment and cheap too!!
Your explanation of getting rid of diseased leaves, is helpful. I used to clean the plant and just leave the leaves on the ground, not knowing that the fungus is still active. Great video!
Brilliant. I had a massive infection of blackspot, and treated accordingly. Now looking good. Thanks so much. Very well delivered. No nonsense approach. Perfect.
I have a plant that I brought down from her house b4 we had 2 put her in nsg home. She went 2 b with our Lord & my dad on Thanksgiving. It's even more important to me now that I keep it going. Had 32 flowers last yr. Absolutely beautiful.
I can't thank you enough for your recipe to eliminate blackspot, I've treated a very sickly rose this spring that has got progressively worse over the last few years. I was a little concerned initially to see the foliage curl up and go black but it was in a bad way and now four weeks after the first treatment there is new healthy growth on the branches and this old rose looks in good shape again.
Always had problems with blackspot....will try this out....my neighbour lost his whole rose garden to it...such a shame...it pissed him off that much he stopped growing roses completely.... Will give this a go!
Thank you so much for providing such useful information, recently we have been having a lot of rain which seems to aid the fungal growth on the roses so I am going to try your remedy ASAP!
I just want to thank you for being so helpful and informative on here. I have learnt a lot from your videos, I think you have saved my roses for sure! I am pretty new to gardening and you are the first person I have found to explain things really well and clearly and you have definitely given me much more confidence in the garden! I have just learned of your health issues, I wish you all the best in getting better. The NHS can be fantastic as long as you are reffered to the right people. Keep going, don't give up you are great x
I had the same issue for few years, tried pruning, tried spray, which worked for a little while. What worked for me was a hard prune in the autumn, removed approximately 3 to 5 inches deep by 20 inches radius of soil from around the roots, replaced it with horse manure, leave it over the winter then repeat the same in the spring. That worked wonders for me. I had the idea of this because my local garden centre guy told me that, roses are a very hungry plant. I’ve been doing it now for 3 seasons without any problems.
Absolutely love your videos . Easy to understand and really good step by step . I am new to all this and you have made everything more enjoyable. Thank you
I'm so glad I found your videos. My rose is showing signs of black spot and I almost missed it. Watching your video made me look closer at the leaves. The spots are small, so I caught it early. I'm gonna use your recipe to help it. Thank you.
Wow, thank you for explaining this in detail as I love my roses and have just learnt how to clear black spot. I am so glad. You explain things simply and clearly. I will be using this tomorrow. I love your tutorials, I am just starting gardening again. I am learning so much.
Just always test one leave first, over a 24 hour period. i've had a lot of people use this over their entire garden and burn their leaves after not making it right. Always test a small amount first! :)
Great Vid. I battled this for nearly 4 seasons and did all of the suggested stuff and could not get rid of it. I was going to rip out all of my rose bushes (about 20) and plant something else. I did not want to do this and out of desperation I thought" Well if the alcohol will sterilize the cutters why not just spray the rose bushes with it. I used standard rubbing alcohol in a spray bottle and every morning in the early morning 6a.m.ish I went out and saturated the rose bushes with the alcohol, got the underside of every leaf too. I also sprayed all of the ground around them. I did this for 2 weeks and haven't seen a sign of it since. Hope this helps along with all of the the things mentioned in the vid.
i have been battling with black spot too .Some roses seem more prone to it than others .Rambling and climbing roses seem to fair better than bush roses /tea roses .I do all that was mentioned but still having trouble .
Also, it's important to cut the dead canes all the way back to the crown (the base of the rose). And cut the dead branches all the way back to their respective main stem. Why keep all those dead branches? Other than those points, your advice is sensible and well presented.
Very helpful! Thank you for explaining why each step was important... Has anyone ever told you that you come across as a sensible and sweet-tempered version of Russel Brand...?
Great video thanks! My one suggestion is to have your bucket ready as and put the cut the leaves and dead straight into the bucket. Dropping the leaves on the ground can spread the fungus. You spray the ground but just a suggestion.
You should also cut any dead dying or diseased wood from the rose. Any damage to the epidermis (skin) or rotting wood is easy access for new disease. Just like having a cut on your hand and not cleaning it. It will become infected. Dead heading down to the nearest leaf/bud is essential as this prevents rotting and disease access as you so rightly said at the top of the vid.
WOW! Your nature is so smooth and friendly and you have the most angelic voice and such a beautiful face and aura. This video helped me loads, thank you so much! I am now watching the eggshell video you made, really helpful, amazingly informative and British Whoop! really clear, concise, to the point, easy to understand and zero complications well done, don't give up this channel is really amazing, thank you!

Thank you, thank you, thank you! Black spot was the bane of my life but your magic potion has cleared it. I could kiss you, as could my eternally grateful and now very happy, roses!!!
Great great video!! I’ve started paying more attention to my roses this time around. I have three and each has different issues. 1.) It’s a big bush with small roses and it’s getting covered in powdery white mildew and all the buds get covered. 2.) This one has been blooming beautiful but I started seeing that the stems are getting black spots and some leaves are getting a white tint to it. Right now there are about three open roses and 11 buds waiting to bloom. Should I wait for them to bloom or start cutting off the infected stems? 3.) This one hasn’t bloomed yet but it is showing one bud. This rose bush is in a big pot and it is have aphids crawling all around the rim of the pot and onto the leaves that touch the rim. I have used a water/soap mix and a water/soap/baking soda mix and also All-in-One Rose & Flower care. I’m going to remove the dead leaves and other trash from the roots and cover it in mulch like you did and hope that helps. Do you have any other tips or recommendations? I’ve been reading online and watch a bunch of videos to try and save them. Thanks!!
It really doesn’t matter if you remove all the leaves with roses as they are tough as old boots. I usually just cut the whole lot off, even leaves with only a tiny bit of black spot. Then I water and feed, feed, feed like crazy. One month later; beautiful new leaves and a bumper display of flowers. And don’t forget to feed! (No fungicide required).
@@ProjectDiaries I used one teaspoon grape seed oil. I was waiting for the evening to do it so I will make sure to test it out before using it on the whole bush. Thanks again I love your videos ❤️
