- The video shows the timelapse of the monkeypox by map worldwide in from May to August 2022. The initial cluster of cases was found in the United Kingdom, where the first case was detected on 6 May 2022 in an individual with travel links to Nigeria (where the disease is endemic). The outbreak marked the first time monkeypox has spread widely outside Central and West Africa. From 18 May onwards, cases were reported from an increasing number of countries and regions, predominantly in Europe but also in North and South America, in Asia, in Africa, and in Oceania. On 23 July, the World Health Organization (WHO) declared the outbreak a public health emergency of international concern (PHEIC), raising the status of the outbreak to a global health emergency. As of 2 August, there were a total of 25,436 confirmed cases in nearly 80 countries that do not typically see cases.

I am not really worried. In my country (Germany) the daily cases are going down again since weeks almost without any measures and I dont see a reason why this should not happen in other countries too.

Monkeypox is no where near the same as Covid. So monkeypox was discovered in 1970 while covid 19 was discovered in 2019. When covid was starting to spread back in 2020 there wasn't any vaccine or treatment for it since it was novel. now monkeypox got the vaccine way before the outbreak started. The reason monkeypox is spreading now is because our governments don't have the audacity to try and stop the spread by handing out vaccines to millions of people, testing and doing the lockdown before so we can contain it.

Don't be misinformed. The virus will no doubt spread to straight people overtime . In Africa, most monkeypox cases are in straight couples.

@a c when you get tested that means one more infected person,but if you see your bumps and you're sick, yet you don't tell anyone, you won't be added to the number of infected people. It was the same case with COVID, there were, and there even are way more infected people than confirmed ones, because there are asymptomatic people, and also people with symptomes but no test.

@@armandoreyes779 Indeed, when the virus mutated of course; small pox variants like that of monkey pox is a strand that doesn’t typically mutate, and even if it does and it becomes a issue we have the smallpox vaccine that does negate the negative side effects of monkey pox(it’s spread is also by contact with people who are infected, not airborne). Also monkey pox is easy to identify if you have it, unlike that of Covid in which it took many days to appear and also could be confused with a cold. A lot of the attributes that made Covid spread so quickly and the dangers that it posed are simply not seen in monkey pox; at least for now.
