It really bothers me that almost everyone wants to know, "What's next". I mean, this guy is playing on the very razor's edge between living and dying. If he never plays that close to the edge again, it does not diminish his accomplishments or his prowess. I think we lose too many high adventure folks to the pressure that once something is accomplished, something else is expected that is as equally or more dangerous. I hope this guy sticks to using fall protection and gives raising a family a try...
I don't think he cares about living or dying which explains why he climbs but I think once he has a family, he will care about someone else and will start to reconsider his methods.

I used to be really scared of heights… i worked construction and being on roofs and ladders helped me overcome that fear… the feeling of overcoming that was so empowering, and it was only a tiny step up. Face ur fears, you will be so much stronger on the other side

Sucks, I don't have an IMAX theater here, at my house lol the film was only in theaters up around here, where I live, for a few months back in like 2018 (ish) Thankfully I got to see it once but the IMAX cinema was full that night, so I had to settle for watching it in the regular one. (Still, better than nothing, of course.) It would be cool if they re-released it every so often again, in IMAX so everybody in successive generations can have the experience. 👍

There was some luck in Honnold's survival of it and I doubt anyone can ever repeat it.
andytim what luck? He was rock solid on the entire route. He may not want to chance the Boulder Problem or Freeblast pitches again, but otherwise he notes in his book that it was all “pretty chill” climbing. There’s a lot of 5.10 and 5.11 pitches on the route that aren’t even consequential to any climber that’s thinking about climbing El Cap. Albeit Honnold did it without a rope, but that’s not exactly an alien feeling to him. You’re probably also one of the guys that thought Ondra couldn’t climb the Dawn Wall before he crushed it. 😂
Just PLEASE don't TRY anything without ropes, Alex! What you did on El Cap was phenomenal but please don't do that again, you've proved yourself, you don't need to anymore! The film was a major disappointment. No footage of Alex's epic climb until the last 15 mins or so. I wanted to see the climb not everyone else's anxiety about Alex. It was a total joke and did such a disservice to Alex's accomplishment on so many levels. This was arguably the most astonishing human feat ever recorded. It took the first guys who climbed it with gear in the 50's seven weeks! And they were world news! Imagine telling them that in the year 2018 some guy would do it free solo in under 4 hours. You'd have been locked up in a straight jacket. I still want to see the whole climb in real time. Like the film should have at least made an attempt to accomplish.
I hear you. The adventurer in me wants to see every single detail of the climb, the technical aspect of each section, each foot/hand hold, Alex's thoughts on each specific section. But then I realize that as far as making movie goes, most people aren't like I am. And they just want to hear/see a good story and such technical details would not be interest to the average watcher. I just bought Alex Honnold’s Signature Glider 9.9 mm X 70 Meter bi-pattern Climbing rope, definitely the nicest rope I’ve ever had!

Also the beauty of this film was how normal alex is and yet how extraordinary at the same time. Being a normal person does not mean you cant live a life of intention and worth. Not all achievements are the kind you make a doc about but how you treat people and connect with them, your priorities and the joy you bring to the world that is important. Its nice to think that you think you know better than alex who is clearly one of the most practical and smart worldly people out there.
