finally, it's about time i see something other than people projecting things onto a 2D glass screen and calling it a hologram, now this, this is more like it. it's like fuckin mass effect technology
Decades ago (~30 years) at the Disneyland Haunted Mansion, when you exited the car you had to walk a little ways to exit the ride. There are various things to look at along the walk and one was a small glass window on the wall that you could look into what appeared to be a box, or "room". Inside was a hologram of a woman standing there and talking. Almost nobody would look at the display or if they did would hastily continue. I was fascinated. I thought it was the highlight of the ride.
this is brilliant. holography, and the holographic potential of consciousness itself, will play a large part in the evolution of our beliefs regarding our own infinite potentials. show someone from merely 50 years a holographic projection like this and it would have been earth-shattering in scope. This is a breakthrough, the future is here, and ready to peak
Holograph is actually projecting 3d images in 3d world space using just a projector and persistent light source, but indeed that techonology will take years to come. I will have to make it i think.
Reason 1, this is far easier. Reason 2, for medicine and stuff it doesn't need to, just having a 3D image of organ scans and stuff will be brilliant compared to current technology.
They are projecting on the order of 5000fps onto that mirror..... how? Most screens and projectors only have a screen refresh rate between 60 and 120Hz. Is this a DLP projector? What is going on?
Get Minecraft, add the clay soldiers mod and put on red blue glasses. Then let the fighting begin. You could also use a 3d TV with Minecraft for a even better picture. With this many armies can fight at once.
looking forward to that holographic technology... When it's finally finished and is released ill say i'm a proud human being who lived in the FUTURE! In the sci-fi world of the old movie where holographic images were just a sci-fi thing. =D
if only it could display full colors. its pretty amazing, and real holography or not, it effectively works. at least until 'real' holography is practical and available
Wow, I can see where this is heading. However, I would not want to be sitting around the "cube" with the family watching the Holographic remastering of Star Wars when the rotating assembly lets go though :-) Grandma could cop a chunk of mirror to the forehead.
That's what I said, when I saw better holograms than this 10 years ago. There was a display, I can't remember the name, but it was projected on mist and you could actually TOUCH and interact with the hologram, moving it in 3d space. 10 years ago.
@ChaseParkison So, you would suggest that we use generally pointless innovations as stepping stones to ground-breaking technological developments? An interesting theory.
whats the name of the software for 3d animations or any similar software that i can use for similar 3d animations in my Imac, like those that is just the vector or lines? anyone? thanks
Hologram is hologram, and there are several other optical tricks. Hologram is a light interference anomaly but this on the video is just an optical illusion which makes a hologram-like optical trick, created with rotating mirrors. For a 3D hologram, you need polarized lasers projecting through a holographic image. Read about holography on Wikipedia, e.g.
A hologram is still a projection... But one that'll give you the feeling of it being a 3D object of lights. I believe the Tupac "hologram" gave only a 2D feeling, so it's only a regular projection and nothing more.
@ChaseParkison I might. While I think that such a method of cancer treatment is far more dangerous than any current method (intense burns and trauma death being the first health risks that come to mind), it does create a potential avenue for non-invasive surgery; given several decades of tuning, this might actually work.
wow holographic technology!! and 240p on yt..
Lol now we got 720 1080 and 4k
This is probably the best hologram display today. Very similar to one that projected by R2D2. Thumbs up!
sarah: look mommy its a hologram! *sarah reaches over to touch it*
mom: no sarah! dont touch the holog....
*finger flies across the room*
AWeSOME!!! I hope this technology will replace lcd,led and 3d displays in future
+Yaseen Mallick Do you want your TV Screen to be a giant rotating mirror?
Vader: What thy bidding my Master?
Emperor: Is this thing on?
finally, it's about time i see something other than people projecting things onto a 2D glass screen and calling it a hologram, now this, this is more like it. it's like fuckin mass effect technology
I am SO GLAD that they showed a Tie Fighter lol
I've seen this device in person and it looks great. Get it out on the market!

i have been waiting my whole life for mini hologram soldiers They need to try to design that!
Technology so advanced it can only be captured in 240p.
Now i wanna talk with Emperor Palpatine Palpatine with this thing. Only please get the ship away from the Asteroids so the transmission will be in HD.
Prepare to see one of these in 2012, except in the sky.

Not a hologram, just an image projected off a surface
+RetroGamerVX most likely 3d-projector sort of but very cool
I want to see that thing saying "Bruno, your dinner is ready!" :D
If this technology's so good, why is the video only 240p?
Luke, you are our only hope!
Any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic.

Nope! Not a 3D hologram, or holographic display. BUT! It is a very cool semi 3D, volumetric display technique. Thanks for sharing this.
Awesome! The only problem I can foresee is how much processor power, rendering, and such will be required to generate movies in such a fashion.
thats cool, obviously still in early development but it would be awesome to see something on a larger scale
So frickin cool. i want that! itll help in school presentations
yes... we're almost there... we can make real life Rimmer in a few more years
@LittlePikachu you cant go to another since we cant even go to the moon... lol
Why we still don't get this thing at least as a toy ?
Reason 1, this is far easier.
Reason 2, for medicine and stuff it doesn't need to, just having a 3D image of organ scans and stuff will be brilliant compared to current technology.

Kind of old news, but still very cool technology.
we need more of this shit. owning a computer like the one in the iron man movies is my dream -_-
What I want to know is how much computer memory was needed to make the image of the person running.
Try explaining that to your common Joe. They'll think this straight from Star Wars
Screw tiny soldiers, I want tiny hologram Pokemon battles!
DUUUUDE
THIS IS AWESOME!
Many Bothans died to bring you this video.
I don't see how this can be the future of 3D entertainment if it's very dangerous.
3:59 Reminds me of "Peppers Ghost" Illusion.
and who was the Guy at 2:13 : Muh- Gawd He's Gorgeous! and A genius Too!
what about changing the mirror to plexiglass and encasing the thing in it?
looks very awesome great work!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
but how to make that image and project it with which type of projector any recommendation or names.
It's jumping around a lot, is this motion tracked CGI?

The Tie Fighter is so appropriate....
is that really exist if yes so can i able to make it my home
I must build one of these! If anybody has instructions on how to build one please post a link.
The level of awesome that device creates is way over 9000
I thought the same thing and it will happen. A moving cinema.
and here...
we...
go!
Yeah, this is really cool stuff.
looking forward to that holographic technology... When it's finally finished and is released ill say i'm a proud human being who lived in the FUTURE! In the sci-fi world of the old movie where holographic images were just a sci-fi thing. =D
Very clever and VERY cool!
if only it could display full colors. its pretty amazing, and real holography or not, it effectively works. at least until 'real' holography is practical and available
ive always wanted that, imagine army men in 10 yrs
I would love a I Dream of Jeannie one.
i knew that Star Wars was involved in this... i'll really like to see a tie fighter in a real hologram....
Now we just have to recreate what the mirror is doing without the mirror...
how is it possible that the light stops at a place u want?
The Sultan of Brunei already uses this tech
Your wish will be real someday.
Will be fun to see it.
hi, would you recall please where you have seen it or at the leastr to have some link to inet where is more info about such technology ?
Where is doctor from the voyager? Or is his matrix in his transportable emmiter? ^^
you will hear a loud knocking noise and feel pain as your blood flies everywhere X0))
i say we have another 10-15 years before this technology is perfected... like the T.V :P
me too ! long time I didn't looking for holograms
ohhh!!!! man... how you do it??? please tellme!!!
i wanna makeit
Can't wait to hear about people hospitalized because they tried to get their parts near it LOL
Wow, I can see where this is heading. However,

they should make a mini movie

Merion if it works it is, thats what logic mean
Nope. That's what under-education means. :)
Merion nope, you are wrong
Whats the point of having a hologram if it has to stay inside a giant plastic box so that it doesnt ginsu everything in the same room?
IT LOOKS SO REAL I CAN JUST TOUCH IT! ... o wait
can you put your hand through it or look all the way around the projection? yeah its not a hologram
That's Gideon from Legends of Tommorow
One of the cool things about holograms is that you can try to touch them and miss. I don't think that is advisable with this one..... :)
help us obi wan kanobi, you're our only hope
and don't forget to touch the hologram when you are drunk
How the hell could a rap legend bring you to hologram programs?!
Amazing..
incredible!!!!!
@ChaseParkison I've seen Total Recall. What I don't see is the relevance that film has on this conversation.
this reminds me of tat scene from starwars order 66
@HelpMyFellowPeople No no, what i meant is why would ANYONE want to fake it when it is very possible physically and technologically to land there?
Good luck on putting this in a phone!
Mmm, The evolution time of thechnology is much more faster than before.
Hmm.... I WANNA SEE HATSUNE MIKU IN 3D NOW!
congraz collage man. Now lets figure out how to project by using that by using lights it self to highly figure out to do it.
OMG! star wars age is near!!
thats some darth vader sh*t
i hope they or he/she realize/realizes this
A hologram is still a projection... But one that'll give you the feeling of it being a 3D object of lights. I believe the Tupac "hologram" gave only a 2D feeling, so it's only a regular projection and nothing more.
@HelpMyFellowPeople We had it back then too.
but will it blend?
amazing work though. im impressed.
it's very cool!
Why haven't we STARTED funding this?
@ChaseParkison I might. While I think that such a method of cancer treatment is far more dangerous than any current method (intense burns and trauma death being the first health risks that come to mind), it does create a potential avenue for non-invasive surgery; given several decades of tuning, this might actually work.
@CorvetteBG We have the technology now.
