    ABOUT
    Howdy! My name is Scott. In 2017, I was unhappy with a traditional house (aka, storage unit) and a long Chicago commute. "$154,000 for a DIY van" are the easiest 5 words to explain why manufacturers haven't tapped into that segment. Completely antithetical to the DIY crowd

      McClains has the 22’s priced at 98k now, because obvs NO ONE is going to pay what they thought they’d be able to get originally. Meanwhile 24’s are rolling out and they still have a ton of 23’s…Insanity!

    Thanks for showing this. A work van during the week and a stealth adventure vehicle on the weekends. And it’s considered an RV not just a van. Neat.
    Adventure Wagon has tons of other cool accessories too. Otherwise I think those tracks are pretty much standard so almost everything works with them.
    I’m sure no one pays close to the MSRP. Funny how people can’t think out of the box.

    Genius marketing. Charge insane amount of money by not giving anything. And minimal labour's required to put this together. And less likely for any warranty work except the L tracks.😂

    • @gransport4246
      @gransport4246 11 місяців тому

      However, no one ever pays MSRP for an RV and it’s an actual RV. A DIY van isn’t an RV and can’t be financed in the same way or are accepted in many places.

    • @APHATMOUSE

      @@gransport4246 it’s not comparable to other rv’s. It’s an “rv” in title only. Have you seen all the other rv’s at the 155k mark? Actual finished products, not some cash grab.

    Nope. We’ve spent about 9 months in our van, and I can’t imagine how gross the walls would be with time ( I used marine vinyl which cleans up nicely). Same with the l track on the floor. Can’t imagine keeping that clean! Gotta agree, marketing to charge more for less

    I like the size of it but I think they should have still put an ac system in it as well&at least give the person an option to use it,then use their Solar power for other things when they want&need to use it!Thanks for sharing👍😊

  • @jamestreanor182
    @jamestreanor182 11 місяців тому +1

    So odd that they refer to a power bank (ecoflow) as a generator, when it actually has no ability to generate anything. Winnebago could sure upgrade this by adding a DC-DC charger, alternator, and doing the wiring for that before the walls are put up...

    Cool concept. People freak over MSRP but you font pay that. This would be good for a work van 9-5 and a quick change over to weekend or vacay camper!

    • @gransport4246
      @gransport4246 11 місяців тому +1

      Exactly. Contractor by week and off grid adventurer on the weekend and it’s an RV. Not a van.

    • @deborah4579
      @deborah4579 11 місяців тому

      @@gransport4246 i find it amusing you would correct me over the use of the word van. In its own promotional literature and product marketing, Winnebago describes it an “ An Adventure Wagon Van ” so, while an RV it’s also a van.

      @gransport4246 11 місяців тому

      @@deborah4579 I wasn’t correcting you on using the word van. Sorry for my poor wording. I was referencing the regulatory and RVIA classification which considers it a RV so RV financing, licensing, various parks, etc. gives it advantages over a DIY van.

    Not my cup of tea." Less is not more" in this version . "Less" means a much smaller price, not the case.Maybe the minimalists crowd will like it. I am going for the travato 2023, KL.

  • @volofly2011
    @volofly2011 11 місяців тому

    I don't get it. For that price you should get a lot more... like an A/C and a subzero heater and a better battery system and a better toilet and a shower and more water storage... oh yeah someplace besides the front sets to sit and a table.
    I understand that this is MSRP but even at the usual discount of 25% it still not a good value.
    Only thing going for it is configurability and maybe being able to add all the other stuff as you wish or not.
    IDK, maybe if you could get this for $115k you could get all that the likes of an Embassy RV provides and still save some money but is it worth it?
    Maybe we're talking apples and oranges, I'm new to this, but it doesn't seem to measure up to me.

    • @gransport4246
      @gransport4246 11 місяців тому

      Can you use any other RV as a work van during the week? Nope. And is a DIY van a RV? Nope.

    • @volofly2011
      @volofly2011 11 місяців тому

      @@gransport4246 ok, it is apples and oranges as this really isn't an RV like others. It's meant to fit a specific niche for those who want a single vehicle to use for the work week and then use it to go "adventuring" on the weekend.
      That being the case, it might make sense for someone. I can't therefore speak to value as that's not what I'm looking for.
      Someone else said that this would be a $90k value if a DIY, maybe the $115k after discount buys you the benefit of warranty, service, certification, insurability, etc. that Scott mentioned this would have over the DIY.
      I get it now.
      Thanks
