  • Jack Gilford was a versatile actor who could do straight drama well but did comedy even better. Some of you might remember him from his memorable commercials he did for Cracker Jack. Others might remember him from movies like "A Funny Thing Happened On The Way To The Forum", "Catch-22", and "Save The Tiger".
This reading PSA was produced by the American Library Association and the National Book Committee and encourages youngsters to forego the TV, radio, movies, and dolls that snore.
Highly fun - and I'll bet you'll be humming this one for days.

I only remember the name Y.A. Tittle because of this public service ad, which I positively loved when I was ten years old. Today I read in the New York Times obituaries that Y.A. Tittle died at the age of 90.

Yes, I saw that obituary too, which made me think of this commercial.

I remember this from when I was 7 or 8 years old. Hard to believe that there used to be PSA's for libraries, and commercials for items that cost 19 cents.
