  • Designed by my father the Zala Boss. He's been on a trepanning kick lately and designed and made 3 different size of trepanning tools for our use. This is the largest the smallest I am trying now on the CNC for large quantity job. Very good design and manufacturing by our team of manual machinists. We are one of only a few shops that I know that offer trepanning service. I plan to make and sell the custom tools that we make here. Each designer gets a portion of the profits for retirement. That's the plan at least.
    This is Zala Custom Tool (Stanley Edition)
    Let me know if you have questions.
    And if you have a trepanning application and need a tool let me know at Sales@zalamachine.com
    Thanks for Watching.

    Just a heads up guys. The coolant should be run through the tool.. especially on long jobs like this. What can happen is the core gets bigger and the bore gets smaller which can result in the tool getting jammed in the job. The flow of coolant reduces to almost nothing coming out as the core gets tighter in the tool.

    The guy below userwl2850 ( Dave ) has A Lot of experience with Trepanning.
    It,s mostly all he does.
    I have to agree with the comment about the Coolant.
    And Add that if you use More Coolant it will help to flush the chips from the tool also.
    When you withdrew the tool there was a lot of build up along your tool.
    Not trying to be negative just involved in your channel.
    Enjoying your video,s looking forward to more.
    Thanks for sharing.
    Peter.

    Gratulacje Panowie, piękny warsztat. Niesamowite maszyny, niesamowita robota. Fachowcy uczyli się fachu w Polsce i wyjechali? Czy już jesteście długo w USA? Jak ma być u nas dobrze jak tacy specjaliści wyjechali:) . Ja działam w CNC od 5 lat, mam 3 Haas -y :), ale przy Waszej robocie to wyglądam jak amator:). Fajnie też że macie kilka polskich maszyn, te nasze tokarki konwencjonalne są chyba na prawdę dobre w porównaniu do innych? Chyba dużo ich w stanach nie ma?:) moja ulubiona to TUE35 , idealnie pod rękę do małych prac.
    W jakim programie robicie CAMa? ( ja fusion360) Szkoda też że nie ma u nas takich kanałów technicznych do nauki jak te w ameryce ( NYC CNC , Titan CNC , JohnGrinsmo, Edge precision itp) Ja w sumie większości wiedzy zdobyłem na YouTubie. Tyle te ich cale... cieżko się przestawić było? :) dalej myślicie w mm? Czy już w ułamkach?:) Pozdrawiam serdecznie, i oby jak najlepiej :)

    Hello, very interesting model drill, Especially the solution with the supply of liquid from the outside of the drill through a special channel, tell the channel what is closed ? Sealing rubber ?

    • @zalamachineshop
      @zalamachineshop  3 роки тому

      Actually yes we sealed it with rubber. Works good and we use this tool all the time. In the past we just drilled it now we trepan to save time and get a nice chunk of good material.

    You should have flood coolant directly through the centre of the trepanning tool, as no dwarf can clog up coolant flow, as it can with the design of the trepanning tool used in the film clip, especially when cutting g tough material

    Why can't you just use a long stick with an insert on it? Like a boring bar the just lets the face run over the insert. Why do you need to catch the slug as you go?

    • @zalamachineshop
      @zalamachineshop  2 роки тому

      This is a proven technique for over a hundred of years now. The slug has to go somewhere and if there is no support it will slump over and possible pinch a single point tool. Plus in order to do this type of cut you need a thin fixturing for the cutting insert and a single boring bar just wouldn't cut it. Literally.

    How deep? How did you centralise the tool to the steady? How much time saved from boring and drilling?

    • @seanb9818
      @seanb9818 4 роки тому

      A trepan tool will go as deep as the depth of the bore of the tool. This particular tool used in the video has a shank which is clamp by the tail stock or saddle (depending on the machine) and is often set within 0.010" thus allowing the steady to be touched on to the diameter of the tool and locked.
      The tools we use bolt onto our combination turret. With 4 nuts and threaded bar. And because they are old machines we have to use a dti on the work piece to check the tool for concentricity. If we are trepanning inconel or other none magnetic materials we use the chuck to set the tool before loading the work piece.
