I'm so pleased that your neighbour gifted you with this olive tree. These trees as you already know are strongwilled when it comes to surviving whatever is thrown at them; they even recover from a fire so why not being re-homed. In another comment someone suggested coffee grounds - great idea, I totally agree (in moderation mixed well with other compost additions). As you well know olive trees prefer a neutral to alkaline soil pH of 7.0 to 8.0 and "too much" coffee grounds can lower soil pH), but for sure do your own research. Andrew started well by giving Oliver a hug before he was pulled from its initial home. 😉😊😇 Lots of hugs, talking & tlc will make a massive difference; Oliver will survive. Enjoy your 'rescued' Oliver. 🤗🤓

Did I miss where you explained why you went to all this effort instead of planting a sapling? I know mature olive trees are resilient but that was a heck of an effort if the tree only has a 50/50 chance of rooting etc? However, I know bugger all about olive trees in general so I will only add that I hope it works out for you guys! Your puppy is thriving and already noticeably bigger.
