ZooTV was a grand dream that came true..... has anybody surpassed this in the last twenty years? ZooTV set the standards for how a rock show could be performed.... and they are still light years ahead of the competition
Still after 16 years the best concert of all time, U2 was at their peak here, a peak that no other band ever have reached. This is concert is the finest thing i music history. Or at least, that's my opinion.
I was 12 when Achtung Baby came out, The Fly played on repeat on MTV. I was hooked. Bono was a rock God. They were the epitome of cool, during college rock radio and early 90’s alternative. I fell in love, hard. And my older brother took me to see the Zoo TV tour. Wow what a night. I will never forget it. I have seen them many times since but nothing, NOTHING, comes close to Zoo TV. And most people don’t get it. They don’t “get” Bono or U2. Until you have felt the loss of a parents at age 14/15 then you won’t catch it when Bono mentions it. I got it. The pain & loss you always carry with you from a young age. They are my first real love, they are the soundtrack to my life, songs that got me through parents deaths, divorce, betrayal, hope for the future, Joy, sadness, pain, new love, you name it. They were there. This is U2 for me. And what’s so great is U2 always plays these 2 songs back to back. Almost like they did it just for me (they obviously did not). Until the end of the world has been my favorite song since Achtung baby came out. Knowing it was about Judas betraying Jesus. Betrayal in general. Then New Years Day, he says, I will be with you again. The day my father died and we had to make a long trip home since he died in another state. My dad & I would watch the stars together. So all the ride home, I listened to New Year’s Day, I will be with you again and longed for my dad. I was 14. Then fast forward a few years ago when my husband at the time of 20 years wanted a divorce. Boy I really understood until the end of the world then. U2 helped me through again. btw first husband looked like Larry, 2nd husband looks like Bono. 🥰
The line "in my dreams I was drowning my sorrows, my sorrows they learned to swim helped me so much during the early days of my sobriety when I stopped drinking thirteen years ago and still does.
Bono’s true command of the stage and crowd is truly uplifting and inspirational. The raw energy he brings to get and keep the crowd excited is truly immense. The end of the song with him and edge battling each other and Bono’s complete live and respect for him and the rest of the band is something many bands have ever been able to attain much less keep for over 43 years. So glad I saw this tour at Dodger Stadium with my future wife of over 30 years now was a magical experience. Too bad age and time have took that that energy away but still a phenomenal band. One of the greatest ever bands.
One of the best live concerts ever captured!!!!!!! The energy of the fantastic crowd, the performance is killer, and the production is top notch! AND ALL BEFORE cell phones and the internet.......when you could absolutely loose yourself in the power of a great concert!!!!
Straight FIRE! U2 in full flight is bulletproof. Haven't been more than a handful of bands that could even hold a stage w them. This is absolutely an incredible moment in Rock N Roll history.
I remember being at this exact concert.... truly life changing!!! The entire thing was a roller coaster of confrontation, emotion and raw energy. I remember every single moment with intense clarity and I STILL get chills all over every time I watch it.
Caught them in Italy in 92. Didn’t think it at the time that it would capture a snapshot of arguably the greatest rock tour ever. It still holds its head as utterly brilliant.
Bono used to be such an amazing singer, songwriter, showman, U2’s music has always had a special place in my heart. Especially songs like these. And EVERY song off The Joshua Tree. Had good times and memories listening to all those tracks. Now... well I ain’t fussed about there recent offerings. I still respect and admire them, for what they once was.
couldn't have said it better myself mate.... their recent work doesn't strike the same emotional chord it once did. I wonder if I just got older and jaded, or what. These guys gave me such incredible times.
@@Will21stI think you got jaded. I'm still super passionate about their latest releases. Raised by Wolves is phenomenal, so is magnificent, the black out and volcano
man, if this came out today, I would still be blown away. even after 23 years, it sounds epic. And the fact people say Edge is crap at guitar. WTF is with that.
Think only that when you hear a song of him unknown to you, you will recognise quicly Edge's guitar!!! It says it all! Few only have this advantage, like Santana and Jimmy Page!
i was there on my own at 14 years old, my mum gave me a choice to see madonna's (Erotica) tour or Michael jacksons (dangerous) tour which i was very familiar with both artists since i was a baby, i chose U2 Zoo TV, i dont know why i did, even though i only knew 2 songs at the time Lemon and Numb... it was the best decision i have ever made iv never looked back. iv been a massive U2 fan ever since :)
This without doubt is these boys at their peak, I was lucky to see this concert in the uk in sheffield, they were jaw droppingly brilliant, as long as I live I will never forget that night, this concert is just as good, awesome.
Darren Shaw Best Rock show ever. Saw them in Ireland 1993. After the show my mates and myself were lying on the ground in the stadium as the crowd made their way out. We were amazed by what we had witnessed and then saw private jets flying away over the stadium. They were off someplace else I guess, lol. Incredible.
I'm not their biggest fan but this tour was the most ground breaking show of all time. It's still pretty spectacular 30 years later. What a great war to leave the Joshua Tree behind.
Still best rock show ever. Bring a 360 stage, a screen bigger than the Empire State Building or what have you. Still won't top this. I love you, Zoo TV, wish I could time travel.
I saw U2 in Phoenix Arizona in Dec 1987 and the Zoo TV tour in Toronto in 1992 I think it was. ZooTV was awesome, a rock art performance piece. Bono was amazing. the entire concert was magnificent. One of the best I ever saw. They are one of Rocks masters and Bono does have the greatest singing voice on rock bar none.
Tara Greene I was there too. Remember Bono had broken his arm in Tucson a day or 2 before. Everybody in Ariz. was pissed they publicly supported the Mecham recall. U2 was truly using their iconic rock status to bring awareness of injustices still running amuck in the world whenever they could. It was so refreshing to see and hear in those times. Our generation did care about things other than fortune and fame even if we didn't say it or show it like artists from 60's generation. Achtung Baby was the equivalent of Boston's self titled album. Every song on the album became part of radio stations playlist at one time or another. That kind of thing never happens nowadays, no matter how good or popular the artist is. It would be 1 of my "If I could only listen or own 5 albums list. I always felt it went unappreciated by many then I remembered hearing a couple of other artists, Lars Ulrich from Metallica being one, mentioning it as best albums made from first to last song. If released today it would still be a top ten seller and critically acclaimed.
Es memorable, apoteósico, sublime, impresionante, único... U2 en la gira Zoo Tv. Es impresionante y espectacular. Una de los mejores conciertos de rock de todos los tiempos.
I saw the Zoo Tour at Dodger Stadium Live !! Greatest show I ever seen, and I also saw the U2 360 Tour Live at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena . The Zoo Tour was hard to beat.. Thanks for sharing the Memories ..
Yeah he had amazing tones for this tour. That particular guitar (Gibson? Gretsch? I have poor eyesight) seemed to really suit him after years of playing a lot of Fender Strats.
I’ve always loved Adam’s bass playing - from the very early days (1977/1980when the band called him king of fake (since he used all the right and cool musician lingua-words and had an amplifier but may not have been a virtuoso/when it comes to technic playing or even keeping the right tempo or key) and since the time when the music critics slagged him off for his slap bass playing on the October album (maybe I loved his playing even more back then). To me he has always been The King of Cool. And I’ve always seen U2 as a unit, a band in its real meaning - where everyone is just as important, the sum is greater than it’s different parts and who are built on friendship. Not a group of musicians chosen by some music company talent people through auditions where the auditions are more of a competition to get the people who fits the record company’s mould(or is it mold?) and will sell the most records. (I know U2, like many bands, got together via an audition - but it was via Larry and a note he put up in the school they attended and he had seen some of them before)

This is why U2 is THE greatest living rock band in the world (along with Bruce Springsteen and the E-Street Band that is). I saw this U2 tour back in the early 90's and it was just as awesome. The new album will sound great live - definitely looking forward to 360!
