They are fine, the quality and durability is pretty good, used the same prescriptions for 2 years, just bought another pair, they really aren’t that expensive.
How can you say that the quality of 80s Ray Ban is the same of modern ones? I'm pretty sure that the quality has improved a lot. You should get a pre-Luxottica pair and make a video comparison.
You are already probably right.. I have owned a brand new pair of 80s new old stock aviators and the quality is worse then a brand new Luxottica pair. But they were sat in the case for 30 years so they just aren’t the same 30 years later as they would be brand new in the 80s so it’s really hard to tell 🤔
You don't know what the hell your talking about, kid. I only wear B&L RayBans and own two pairs (among others) of RB50 Generals that I purchased new in 1989. One pair is still new in the box and worth $600 -$900 today. The other pair I worn at least four days a week every week since 1989. The other days I wear other B&L RayBan Aviators/Outdoorsmans or randolph Engineering Concordes that I bough new. Luxottica RayBans are shit.
Even the ones made in Italy are made in china and the brand asks the manufacturer to write “made in Italy” so that they can raise up prices even higher . A lot of documentaries about this already exist in UA-cam
@@ckhound1 my prescription wayfarers are made in china. But my other 3 pair are made in Italy! One brand new pair of custom aviators and cats 5000. Then I have a vintage BL gold aviator set made in Italy
If i buy off of raybans official site, does that guarantee they'll be made in Italy, id be getting custom ones, polarized, the colors i want, and normal head size.
I bought a pair of RB3527 from the website and they were made in China. Ray-Ban seem to be purposely vague about which models are made in Italy and which models have crystal lenses.
I just got a pair at SunglassHut for $176.99 which were made in Italy and I’m ok with the price. If you have the cash too afford it then eat a pair, well worth it
2x the price is definitely a significant change my guy. Even $80 is the 80s was A LOT for sunglasses. Like, understand inflation isn't about value of the dollar, it's also public value if the items.
Good choice, if you treat those glasses right, they will last you a very long time. I've been wearing the same pair of Clubmasters for 13 years now and they still look almost brand new.
Fun fact: Some luxury handbags are made in Italy by Chinese workers. Not sure if it's the same with Ray Ban, although I highly doubt an adept Italian artisan will make sunglasses for a non-luxury American brand.
I'm wearing my Ray -Ban Aviator remix large Blue Pink polarized gradient with Turquoise tips now.The only problem, well two. One they seem to slip off my face a little. and the other main one is the turquoise tips look more forest green than turquoise. I was seriously considering sending them back, but I still have them. I also own a pair of Chromance purple gradients that are perfect.
Ray Ban has gone to total crap in terms of quality IMO. I had an older pair of Wayfarers that have lasted me for quite a while. I still wear them occasionally. Last summer I made the mistake of purchasing a pair of polarized aviators online. They are total and complete garbage. The generic junk you see in Mall stores like lens crafters is better quality. The frames are flimsy. In a matter of six months of casual use last summer, the screws kept coming lose. One of the lenses outright just popped out--the right lens . And whenever I put even the slightest pressure on the temples the lens started to want to pop off. Sent back in under warranty. After going through the trouble and paying for shipping the glasses were returned 'repaired' only to have the same issues with screws coming lose etc...Was told I was not getting a new pair......never again....NEVER..Ray Ban has gone to garbage. I also don't buy the made in Italy label. Likely they are assembling them in Italy but the frames and lenses are probably made in China.
Thanks for sharing! I’ll also mention that ray bans customer service sucksssssss they are really awful you’ll spend an hour on hold just to talk to some one you can’t understand and who has the power to do nothing for you..
@@ShadeReview Well, the number I used was to an offshore Help Desk. Sounded like from India, based on the accents. Nothing against people from India but it was hard to communicate. I had to get a ticket for warranty work. Sent it in. Called once to see status but got no information other than, 'Ray Ban experts are working on your glasses.' When I got it back the lens didn't pop out but I still have issues with the screws backing out repeatedly. The aviators look nice. Other than that, they just suck in terms of craftsmanship and quality. I would advise people to have serious reservations if they are considering the aviators. They are just too flimsy. Cant speak for other products in the lineup.
I have noticed the quality difference between China made vs Italymade its clear as day to me. I have had numerous pairs, both made in Italy and china. the Chinese pairs are looser in the hinges , the plastic feels cheep on the Chinese as well where the italian ones feel much better. Also I know people who work for Luxottica in Italy and they say they don't get any parts from china at all the are 100% made in Italy when they say "made in Italy"
Oh and she also told me they save 75% to make them in china vs Italy so knowing Luxottica soon all Ray-Bans will be made in China so buy up the Italian ones when you still can
I love RayBan! Your videos just amazing. I checked all my RayBan and thank God they’re all made in Italy! Someone tried to sell one time one that was made in China and told me that the materials are from Italy, i just just no thank you. If i have to pay that much, I would definitely make sure that it’s made in Italy
I see a lot of people complaining about RayBan, I where prescription RayBans, bought normal sunglasses made in Italy and just replaced the lens. Been wearing them every single day for 6 years and they are pretty much mint except for all the white writing on the inside of he frame fading away. I wear them when I play sports too.
its not like Maui jim also cost way too much ?! but ok, if 200 dollars is a reasnonable price for an item that costs 20-30 bucks to make im not quite sure this is the right place to live in
I just got a pair before I watched your pod and my Ray-ban was made in China I got them sunglasse hut I called them to ask them are this glasses real or not they say real but they split the makers to bring down the cost but I paid 198.24 for my Ray-ban
@@curlyhairdudeify hi well I have watched a few pods on Ray-ban lately so I think they are good quality I was thinking all Ray-ban was made in Italy that was the reason I ask
My mother got me the RB3549 pair for my birthday early this month. They’re pretty great, though I don’t think I’ve seen you make a review of this frame before? The temples are pretty much what’s different I believe.
Where are you getting your figures from? Manufacturing costs of sunglasses are in the pennies, not even close to $35. Standard aviators cost an average $0.16 each.
Can someone tell me what model of Ray-Ban sunglasses are on the table? They have a gold metal frame and brown lenses, next to the ones with a transparent frame and blue lenses, behind the ones with a black plastic frame, right below the boy's right hand
I heard the polarization or RB was terrible. I found this out after I bought a pair and suffered from terrible glare anytime the sun was in any position other than straight ahead. Returned them and will not buy another.
70 Dollars to make Back in the day and now 35 ?! Whahahaha.... I know these are just numbers for the sake of the argument, but one of my relatives worked in the industry up to the early- mid 90s and he said that while the lenses were the costliest a shipment of around one standard crate of highest quality lenses would cost them roundabout 3 Dollars a lense pair. When the shipment was large enough they we're able to get highest quality lense pairs for literal cents. Frame parts on the other hand, no matter the material were so cheap they practically regarded them as “free". The costly part was actually putting the frames together due to manhours spent. Every sunglass manufacturer including Maui Jim (even though I love them) makes insane profits on one sold batch alone. It's basically like printing money if your brand name is known. Since Ray Ban produces in China, were manhours are practically cents too i would argue that a solid 93% of the actual sales price in stores are pure profit. The rest goes to the shops and logistic departments. That's fucking insane. Everyone who buys a pair should realize it's a stupid Investment that only serves the 1%.
I never bought a rayban in my life, .. i have 6 different sunglasses, from Dita, Culter & Gross, Serengeti, Zegna, Masunaga, and just got my new one from Mini by Eschenbach
Mine say made in Italy but I forgot how much they where, they are very good quality sun glasses and I think it’s worth just buying them on the official ray ban site just incase an Amazon one might be fake. I mean if your just looking for some glasses/sun glasses then you probably won’t care if they r fake or not but.
Bought a custom pair from the actual Ray-Ban website. They’re Made in Italy 🇮🇹. They’re golden mirrored aviators. I Absolutely love them. I’ve also got the standard black aviators.
I have a question for you, you know when you customize them do you see how for example Hand made in Italy isn't on the arm? Like certain things change that could make them look like fakes on their site?
hi man I’ve been watching your videos lately. My grandfather gave me a RB3132 and I thought that they were Ben Affleck Daredevil’s Olympians since they have a gunmetal frame and red lenses. Then I just found out that the Olympians are the RB3119. I kind of want the Olympians but I think that what my grandfather gave me is very rare
My Ray-Ban creak, like, I can hear the lenses creaking inside the frames - Is this normal? They are genuine bought from Ray-Ban. Old original B&L Ray-Bans didn't do this.
I bought a pair of customized Rayban Wayfarer from the website and i asked to put my initials on the left temple. They read "Hand Made in Italy". However when i finally got them i noticed that they do not have a serial number on the right side they only read RB2140. Is that something normal with customized sunglasses or should i get worried?
Randolph aviators after watching your videos are probably the one's I will go for just really hard trying to purchase a pair in the uk and a lot more expensive than in the usa
I have 2 pairs of ray bans made in Italy and 2 made in Brazil and the quality is very different. I haven’t payed attention when I bought the latter, from now on I’m only purchasing ray bans made in Italy.
i've never seen a pair of rayban that says made in china on the temple, i have a clubmaster with no origin marking (they're probably are made in china), it only says china on the box which i believe on some markets they don't have to clearly state the origin on the product unlike in the us.
Bought a pair on Ebay. It didn't show the sizes. So it ended up being the smallest pair. Plus they were on sale hundred dollars. Ended up just giving them away.is it better to pick them up in person or buy it online and look at them closely?
Wish I could have watched this video earlier, but I could still draw similar comment as Shade Being a 10+ year RB fan, I haven’t been shopping new RB for quite some while, it’s because I already owned a few pairs of sunglasses that can handle most of the situations, clubmaster+wayfarer+aviator, they are all glass lenses and made in Italy What i consider having premium product will never comes with light weight like titanium and plastic lenses. They are for sure can make you comfort but not premium. These days i wish to find out a modern design from RB to add to my collection but I can hardly find one. They are either nylon+plastic lenses that made in Italy that looks cheap or acetate+crystal lenses that made in China which costs cheap. Just simply can no longer find a model with acetate+crystal+italy, or it has but they are the classics which I already owned. After this disappointing shopping around experience, I can conclude that if you go to a physical shop and see made in Italy or Japan on the temple, they will definitely print it. Other printings like T, K, C etc, I will simply assume they are from developing/semi-developed countries, and mostly from China. At the end of the day, I have just added a RB meta wayfarer and am planning to replace lenses for my defective classics, perhaps will buy a RB2132 to add in my collection. What a pity for this brand.
I bought a pair of polarized New Wayfarers, and they don't feel like a premium product nor am I blown away by their lenses...you're not getting a notably better product than the mid-grade knockoffs, IMO. Like...why are these lenses so bad? I'm a bit surprised that the Dr. Evil company that owns like 95% of the market is unable to engineer a lens better than this...
so since some ray bans are made in italy and others are made in china, are all ray bans made the same or are they made in different material between the two countries
I have my pair of wings ii for a year now I absolutely love them, not a single problem with the frame or lens, they are super clesr and feel more like visors than sunglasses worth the 300 imo :)
Ray ban? Try shady rays. I put my ray ban wayfarers down and picked up a 50% half off pair of shady rays wayfarers. Love them. Feel exactly the same. Look the same. Without the ray ban sticker. But it says shady Rays: so...new designer style. Oh yeah shady rays are assembled in America. Like ray ban orders their parts from Chinese designers and assemble and finalize it in their Luxotica line.

Even the 35.00 cost is inflated. Only a few glasses are still made in the US. The majority are made in China and not a single pair (polarized or not) costs more than 10.00 (U.S.) to make. Don't be fooled. You're paying for the marketing and the name.
I got a prescribed rb7074 directly from ray ban site it’s a nice rubbery frame made in China. It’s good quality idk. I guess if it was plastic it’d be inferior?
I enjoy your videos a lot! IMO, regardless of where it says its made, it's still overpriced plastic. I'm guilty as all of you for wearing them nonetheless lol
you don't... the high profile models like the Wayfarers and Aviators are sure to say "made in Italy" on the temple, but for lesser known models there's no way to know until you have it in hand.
There's only one Ray-Ban, and that's B&L. After you try lenses like ambermatics, kalichrome, ultragradient, chromax, rb50 to name a few, you just never wanna go back to luxottica, simply another level.
I always wanted a pair of Ray-Ban’s. Until I got a pair of William Painter. The weight balance is perfect. And having to wear them as much as I do, it’s a must.
The price might be the same as from years back but you are now getting a way inferior product! The quality under Luxxotica isn't there and it probably only costs them around $20 to produce not $35!

One pair is still new in the box and worth $600 -$900 today. The other pair I worn at least four days a week every week since 1989. The other days I wear other B&L RayBan Aviators/Outdoorsmans or randolph Engineering Concordes that I bough new. Luxottica RayBans are shit.
Sorry to tell you, but Ray ban has turned to crap since Luxottica bought them. Put your money towards a brand more like serengeti.
@@filipcolovic1283 Serengeti are for old men and hipsters. Oakley may be owned by lux but their quality and durability is unmatched.
Even the ones made in Italy are made in china and the brand asks the manufacturer to write “made in Italy” so that they can raise up prices even higher . A lot of documentaries about this already exist in UA-cam
In China they will write whatever you want on the product! Believe nothing that comes from there.
I’ve had the same glasses for 5below for 2 years. I work construction and they’re still completely fine and do everything I need. Paid $5.00.

Oh yeah. The monopoly of sunglasses.

Thanks great vid Sir!
Awesome enjoy and congratulations!
If i buy off of raybans official site, does that guarantee they'll be made in Italy, id be getting custom ones, polarized, the colors i want, and normal head size.
Custom ones are definitely made in Italy
I usually buy RB from their official website, buying from other sites cheaper chances are you will get some nice fake ones

I bought a pair in amazon us last week, still waiting for it .
After watch this video, i worry about will receive fake
I just got my first pair of ray bans today, I picked up the clubmasters specifically from your video

Good choice, if you treat those glasses right, they will last you a very long time. I've been wearing the same pair of Clubmasters for 13 years now and they still look almost brand new.

@@ShadeReview I got the folding ones
So I got clubmaster I used the ray ban cloth to clean and the inside where they are blue is rubbed off? Now I'm scared to wipe it at all.
Fun fact: Some luxury handbags are made in Italy by Chinese workers. Not sure if it's the same with Ray Ban, although I highly doubt an adept Italian artisan will make sunglasses for a non-luxury American brand.
they will import parts from China
Watch the documentary of how luxury bags are made in Italian land
Just got my perscription pair in. Glad it says Italy on it
i used to use raybans, now with persol meflecto archs i buy cheap 649 and break glasses then replace them with optic lenses :3 comfort and style
649 persol are amazing!
Awesome if you take them to your local optometrist they should definitely be able to adjust them perfectly to your face
Just us a dab of glue on the screw 😂😂
This was extremely unhelpful.

If i have to pay that much, I would definitely make sure that it’s made in Italy
its same shit lol
I see a lot of people complaining about RayBan, I where prescription RayBans, bought normal sunglasses made in Italy and just replaced the lens. Been wearing them every single day for 6 years and they are pretty much mint except for all the white writing on the inside of he frame fading away. I wear them when I play sports too.
Maui Jim and Vuarnets are my favorite, I hate the luxotica price gauging monopoly scam.
Hard to go wrong with Maui Jim!
I have one of each. Maui Jim mavericks and the Wayfarers. The RB wayfarers are still my favourite style. Can't get away from it lol
its not like Maui jim also cost way too much ?! but ok, if 200 dollars is a reasnonable price for an item that costs 20-30 bucks to make im not quite sure this is the right place to live in

Same quality, or better from China.
They have a gold metal frame and brown lenses, next to the ones with a transparent frame and blue lenses, behind the ones with a black plastic frame, right below the boy's right hand
i think a comparison between 2 same pairs of sunglasses, but one manufactured in china and one in Italy would be a really interesting video
The best quality Ray Ban sunglasses were made in the USA, now they are just copies made by greedy people.
I heard the polarization or RB was terrible. I found this out after I bought a pair and suffered from terrible glare anytime the sun was in any position other than straight ahead. Returned them and will not buy another.
Try a pair of Maui Jim! You will not be disappointed
That's exactly what I have been told. Love the videos, subscribed. Thanks for the help!
Good information. Thank you.
The real question is, what's that watch on your wrist?

I never bought a rayban in my life, .. i have 6 different sunglasses, from Dita, Culter & Gross, Serengeti, Zegna, Masunaga, and just got my new one from Mini by Eschenbach
What about lens quality do you think there's a difference too?
Thank you . I was going to buy a pair of $280 in toronto . Now I will go back and see where they are made .
It'd be a better video if you had suggested cheaper alternatives with identical designs (eg caravans, aviators, wayfarers etc)

@@ShadeReview Thanks , you do too. Nice collection btw.
Especially now made in China is now frowned upon. But yes I used to buy Ray-Ban in 90s and they were $70+ now $$200 a pair. What a difference.
My Ray-Ban creak, like, I can hear the lenses creaking inside the frames - Is this normal? They are genuine bought from Ray-Ban. Old original B&L Ray-Bans didn't do this.
Wait he has spent almost 9k on Ray-Bans. Im impressed
I'm not. It's pretentious.

I have 2 pairs of ray bans made in Italy and 2 made in Brazil and the quality is very different. I haven’t payed attention when I bought the latter, from now on I’m only purchasing ray bans made in Italy.
They overcharge for polarized. Foster Grants at your local pharmacy ar 20 dollars and they have fully polarized lenses.
i've never seen a pair of rayban that says made in china on the temple, i have a clubmaster with no origin marking (they're probably are made in china), it only says china on the box which i believe on some markets they don't have to clearly state the origin on the product unlike in the us.
Bought a pair on Ebay. It didn't show the sizes. So it ended up being the smallest pair. Plus they were on sale hundred dollars. Ended up just giving them away.is it better to pick them up in person or buy it online and look at them closely?
If they were on Ebay they were most likely fake.
Bought mine (RB 4342) today without having watched that video.
Made in Italy.

@@ShadeReview Word up
Wish I could have watched this video earlier, but I could still draw similar comment as Shade
Being a 10+ year RB fan, I haven’t been shopping new RB for quite some while, it’s because I already owned a few pairs of sunglasses that can handle most of the situations, clubmaster+wayfarer+aviator, they are all glass lenses and made in Italy
What i consider having premium product will never comes with light weight like titanium and plastic lenses.
New wayfarers are garbage ,try the originals
I like RayBans. They are good sunglasses
so since some ray bans are made in italy and others are made in china, are all ray bans made the same or are they made in different material between the two countries
Thanks for the comparison 👍
