- Hi!
No music. No talking. Just work.
If you are taking your DELL LATITUDE E6400 laptop apart be careful and wear an anti-static wrist band or use other anti-static device. If you need to change a LCD usually you don't have to take screen out of a laptop. You can leave it on a laptop and watch the last part of the video where I am taking LCD apart. If you need to change a keyboard, you don't have to take all bottom screws out. There are usually some marks, like a keyboard picture, on a case bottom. If you need to put a laptop back to work be aware of screws. They are different and you better remember or mark them somehow to insure that you will put them back in to a right place.
Some laptops I take apart first time, so don't be serious on my time and performance.
If something got broken - ooops, it's your fault.
Believe me, some parts in your laptop are already broken, you just don't see that.
This video is like insurance for your laptop. With this video and some skills you will be always sure that at least you can try to repair your laptop. If it's broken you don't have to sell it or throw it away. You can find some new or used parts somewhere and change it. It maybe will be your new job or hobby. And if it didn't worked out you still will be able to ask somebody else to fix it.
So, just watch this video and fix your laptop.
Have fun and good luck!!

Thank you so much, I had to replace the screen and upgrade the 60GB HDD to a 256GB SSD. I had never done this model before and your clear, simple steps helped me to get through everything in less than 20 minutes.
GREAT! You are always welcome!
was that a sata ssd?
@@sweeren3619 you can put a sata ssd in the e6400 but it won't run the full speed becouse the motherboard only supports up to sata 2.0 of course an nvme ssd won't work
This helped me replace the screen hinges. Thank you!
Thanks, spilled water, needed hard drive out. Easy to get hard drive out! First 40 seconds!
thanks now i can scrap it, and make some money.
Mine start fan goes vrummm then shuts down, the screen is black all the time. What should I check?? I removed hdd and ram still black screen. ?? Thanks a lot
can you offer a video where you talk and on how to put i back together ps i like the video
Cool now can you do a reassembly video?
I can reassemble any laptop, that's for sure, but this video was made 10+ years ago....
You are welcome!!!
hey i have issue with dell latitude e6500 , so this laptop cannot find a nvidia geforce quadro 160m ..i update bios to newest verison and still not happen .. how i can fix it? :/ i use 65 ac adapter maybe it is problem i dont know ... help
You are welcome! You know, for example HP had some videos on how to replace some easy things like keyboard etc. But some of their videos are so out of reality. On one Probook model to remove a keyboard is like a torture. It is not only screwed but also had some hooks you need to push thru it. If you look at HP video, technician removing that keyboard like a breath, like there are no hooks at all...
So, keep watching, subscribe to a channel :)
HP laptop design seems terrible. I had to take apart half of the laptop just to clean the fan.
@@NaoPb unfortunate design. Thank you.
Great video
Can I upgrade the CPU of my Dell Latitude E6400...........If yes, where to buy it
Hi Regaz, could you tell me the thermal pad thickness for both the chips please? i don't know which thicknesses to use right now. trying to reducing the fan noise and heating issue on my dad's old laptop!
So my Dell LATITUDE E6400 LATCH HOOK broke.. $8 part on eBay ..looks like it could be simple.. any suggestions.. thanks
Very good thank you.
Would you know what would cause laptop not to power up, power cord and battery are good?
Thank you
Great video except for one big NO-NO. You never use power tools for electronics work unless you like to damage parts and items. It's an electronic, not a car you don't need torque or power like that but, thanks for the video overall. Made this a bit simpler.
There’s nothing wrong with power tools on disassembly.
@@darkside9129 actually there is a lot wrong with it and anyone with some tech background would know that. But, if you like risking your devices by all means do it the half ass way and fry a board or cost yourself more in repairs.
@@CoderCozz11 I do. And have done so for years. And haven’t fried a board yet. The only time I might not use a power tool is if the screw is too tight.
Luego vas a saber montarlo? Si vas quitando piezas y tornillos a lo loco.
Dará gusto ver el montaje...
can you tell me how to reset the bios password? on the e6400
Ty for this video im upgrading one and im taking it apart to clean out the old thermal paste.
thankss
THANKYOU for not talking haha. No messing around!
channelkerr You are welcome! That was a whole point in my videos!
I want to take the screen out and turn it into a monitor can i do that?
It helped me, Thanks!
i scrapped one because nobody wanted it.
i want to ask , i have pc like that , the henges are dead i want to know if i can replace them without replacing the display or display case ? i heard the henges are integrated with the display case .
Hi, to replace the hinges, you would need to remove the screen/upper part and take it apart and replace hinges. Please be careful, because this laptop is very old and due to age many plastic parts become very fragile.
Also, you don't need to remove many parts before removing a screen, most likely the keyboard and heatsink with the fan will stay in place. I removed the screen somewhere in the middle but you just need to unscrew it and unplug wifi, video cable and maybe webcam cable if it is separate. I didn't watch it thoroughly to see where the wifi is plugged in etc, it should be relatively easy to remove the screen only.
Another way is to use it with an external monitor without fixing hinges ;-).
Make sure you have the correct hinges first in hand. Mark all screws about where they are coming from and so the assembly will be easier. Take pictures also, especially how cables and wires are placed. If you do such a repair for the first time - believe me, as many pictures as possible are very helpful.
Last but not least, it could happen, when you take apart a screen, some plastic parts would be damaged (bezel, screw holes on the back cover) ... Before repair try to find a complete back cover with hinges and bezel, just in case ( price wise could be the same but tremendous value if needed.)
Thanks much for vid, perfectly clear with no noise or fast-tracking :) I need to replace the power jack in a e6410, what a pain, thank you Dell for building it ass-backwards...
Well done, dude. :-)
muito bom
+regazzz I Broke the backlight connector that you disconnect in min 8:2 dou you know if there is replacement for this ? or I have to get the whole LCD ?
AMAZING simple guide. Dell doesn't even have the manual out for this model, and as an IT technician, I found it puzzling to try to replace a couple of the buried parts... Thanks!
bro my laptop e 6400 nill is missed what can i do please reply me quick .

Wow that was great cant do that with a apple product dell kicks ass.
Any ideia how to repair N9 led error ?
Reseat the CPU.
Replace the CPU.
Replace the motherboard / system board
Already tested with another cpu.
I am not sure why motherboard replacement didn't helped. I hope you will find a solution.
@@regazzz I did not replace the motherboard yet, i would like to find a fix for it, maybe heating the chipset?
@@lawrencelisboa6013 oh, I misunderstood. What is exactly happening, I am never had error N9 how does it show up?
@@regazzz The laptop Shutdown after 5seconds every time. There here a list of led errors:

Thanks what's the module you disconnect at minutes 5 ?
10:16 Now great grandma you can leave the cellar if you can reassemble the laptop in 20 mins with your blindfold still on. :)
Great Video btw, most helpful and not quite the nightmare i was led to believe

Thank you very much. It thelped me a lot
Helpful Tips, thanks
Hola. ¿Encajará la carcasa de Dell E6400 en el modelo Dell E6410?
I would like to get to my headphone (audio) jack to see if I can either solder or fix whatever is wrong with it. Is it necessary to disassemble the bottom portion of the laptop prior to going in under the keyboard? Thanks.
Joe Vitale most likely yes!
well done...thanks
lulz using a power tool to take out screws. I've never seen that before nor is it recommended.
+Mr.Fats well, now you know that's possible and nothing to lol about it, except if the person who is doing it can't do it right.
Thanks allot, !!!!!!!
Wish to know that if dell latitude E6400(having core 2 duo with a processor of 2.9 GHZ& 4GB RAM) with nvidia graphics cards is suitable for gaming.
i can bearly play POE on it. I have 2gb ram 2.93 cpu. I heard a guy on anuther post stat he culd play diablo 3. I am going to oc my grafix and cpu to see what it can do.
I would recommend upgrading RAM and CPU as well if possible, even though I’m six years late
Never again dell laptop!
Haha! :)
it,s helped me .thank you so much
+jahanzaib khan you are welcome!
Danke! :)
Help!! I can't remove the lid at 00:47 but in the video it looks so easy
Neither can i
@@az_cx I used some flat screw as a pryer near the battery area
To remove the bottom cover you just remove one screw near the middle then slide the cover towards the front a couple of mm , then lift off . It won't move until you slide it that little bit .
hang on, have you bought it with intel hd intergrated graphics, or with Nvidia Quadro 256MB Independent graphics?
