I'm an American and I don't really have a preference. It's funny though because you pointed out some things I hadn't noticed before, which makes it a entertaining video. I moved around a lot as a kid within the United States; not internationally, and got hella confused because different schools I went to taught different pronunciations. I don't know where I picked it up but I used to pronounce 'herb' like the British for some reason. But that got corrected.

This video is spot on!! I’m American and studied abroad in England. The expression that threw me off the most was when they said “You alright?” instead of “How are you?” In American Eng, if u say “You alright?” it means it looks like there’s something wrong with u (sick, tired, etc). So people kept asking me that the first few days and I thought I must look tired or homesick and answered accordingly. Haha! It’s the little things!! Thank u for this video!! (Your accent is so good I thought u were American the first time I saw one of ur videos!!)

Most of U.K. know Americans have a lounder accent than most British people and Europen people. Japanese,Australians and USA tend to have lound accents.

🇨🇿 here - we are taught British english as in all continental Europe, but as we consume so much American shows, movies, we usually end up speaking American. I always loved Scottish english, but i have kinda forgotten classical southern english.
As i have seen Outlander all seasons now, that gave me proper teaching of Scottish accent.

As an American, we do use the word “posh” it’s just more common in the UK. Also the British do not speak more proper than us Americans they just have a different accent. Everybody in the UK is not posh. But your American accent was really good I just felt you over exaggerated our accent and made us seem like we speak less formal or proper than the British. It is an individual thing about speaking proper. You can be an American from Alabama and speak more formal and proper than someone from Cambridge England. Overall great video !!! :))) 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸 Thank you for your interest about our culture ❤️

It is the pronunciation of the vowels (which are different from country-to-country) which change an accent. Not the dropping of consonants. Dropping, or the changing of consonants is simply SLANG! 1: a consonant letter occurring twice in succession in a word (as nn in tunnel).
2 a: an acoustic impression apprehended or functioning as two consonants, produced by prolonging an articulation (as of \s\ in bus seat), by repeating an articulation (as of
\ in Spanish parra, or by prolonging the interval between successive components of an articulation (as between the occlusion and the release of \t\ in coattail).
b: a consonant produced by a simultaneous double articulation (as a \p\ pronounced with release of both lips and glottis).
c: two different consonant sounds occurring in succession (as \mp\ in stamp).

I like British accent. It's fun. I find American one is funny to pronounce for me with those "r" and "t" sounds. And British accent is easier to understand but American one to pronounce. Each one who learns English has his/her own unique English accent. Nice video!

Americans know what the word "posh" means but we don't use it. One reason is that the word essentially means "upper class" (a "posh" accent) and Americans don't have the same class hang ups as the Brits. (And even if we did, there is no "upper class" accent, for example.) We don't think of there existing a "class" of rich people -- just people who may happen to have more money than we do! That's because we haven't been divided into peasants and lords for a thousand years. The Brits still have a hereditary nobility!

You might get a kick out of this. I looked up where the American Accent came from. It turns out that for a while there was fad practiced by the upper crust in England to enunciate words a certain way. The colonies were still subjects of the crown and this way of speaking was emulated in the colonies. In England the fad faded away over time but in what would become the USA it caught on with the larger population and evolved into what became the American Accent. Or maybe just one of them.
