I love the dry run with the passing people. "Oh look there Kate!" "Ah well, Lauren. It's just another lunatic guy having a very special relation to his boat" 🤣

    Awesome demo.
Now try the same in real conditions. Wind, waves and all that fun 😁

Maybe if I'm on Loch Ore again and capsize over there... 😅

Additional tip, if you're someone of "larger build" like me. You may find it hard to pull yourself onto your kayak without it tilting enough to let water into the cockpit. Weirdly, I found it helped if I used the kayak like a swim float until I was swimming pretty much flat with it and then pull the kayak underneath my belly whilst still swimming. Logically it's the same motion as pulling yourself onto it but psychologically it seems easier to perform. Give it a go if you find the normal method difficult.

I tried it (we're talking about the part with deck cover on, right?) and couldn't get on due to the deck making the kayak higher. On top of that, when tilted, the drain holes along the side work in the opposite way. In this situation they let water in so a sponge or a bilge pump is recommended here (I had my trusty sponge with me 😅). My intention was to position myself flat on the water here but I just started too quickly... I'm always being too impulsive with everything haha 🤣. It still worked well though.

@@LetsGoPaddling I should have clarified my main kayak is not a Gumotex but an Itiwit X500 v1. One day I hope to be rich enough to get a Gumotex too though.

@@KayakingVince So it's for the closed deck. 😉
I'm not rich either. I just wanted to have a few reliable kayaks in my tiny fleet that would last me for years to come. Although I had to pay more to get them, in the long run they will end up being cheaper to use. Unlike certain other UA-camrs, I'm not going to fill up my free space with kayaks. What I already have is more than enough. 😅
Apart from kayaks, I don't really own anything. 😕

@@LetsGoPaddling Are you suggesting there's anything else worth owning beyond kayaks? 🙂

without deck, you can go also from one of the extrimity, , you just have to slide your body on the kayak . I did a test with beginners, it was easier for them than on the side

It's a great option for many as well but I couldn't do that - my arms are not strong enough to do it that way. 😟
It was much easier for me to use a quick burst of power and get myself to that stable point, almost like in a surfski.
